  1. My main 350z is insured with a few mods (polybushes and brakes) for about £500 per year with hic. Just put a quote into compare the meerkat for this second car and the cheapest quote was over £1k. Not sure if it was the plenum spacer mod or because of 0 NCB (my NCB can only be used against the 1st car right?) That bumped it up so much. Will have to make a few phone calls to the specialist insurers by the looks of it.
  2. I wasn't in the market for buying a second 350z but an opportunity has presented itself to buy one v cheap (friend of a friend is selling) so I'm going to take a look on the weekend. The idea is that this car will mainly be used for tack days or in an emergency if there is a problem with my main car. It needs to be road legal to get to the track days. The car has been modified, things like a plenum spacer, upgraded brakes, polybushes etc. What's the best way to insure this car cheaply with limited miles? I would consider just doing temporary insurance only when I need it but so far I haven't found a company that will cover modified cars for just a day or 2.
  3. Resurrecting my old thread as I've now got a camera mount that I'm happy with so thought I'd share in case it helps someone else. Camera mount - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00CFPMDY4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_HA8ACbWHEA2HT Adapter to hold my phone - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B071XHYG5R/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=A1NY92AVJG8AQH&psc=1 Tbh I would probably spend a little more and get a metal one but this seems ok OBD2 sensor - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00H9S71LW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_vB8ACb22X7DCY Would strongly advise avoiding the cheap ones here as they aren't fast enough to transmit all of the data in real time, Google for Harry's lap timer sensor compatibility for a list of other recommendations. Also using Harry's lap timer app petrol head edition. Here are the results: Only issue I seem to have is that it doesn't appear to be picking up properly how much / when I'm braking so will have to play around with it a bit more to see if I've set something up wrong in the app
  4. Welcome. Had mine nearly a year now and loving every minute. I'm from Oxford as well. Did a track day at Abingdon last year and plan to do another in a few months, any plans to track yours?
  5. Fitted some wheel spacers today. Went 15mm front and 20mm at the back. Makes such a difference, looks much better now. Also fitted my knew gear knob. The original one was a bastard to get off but was badly warn. Next up, I think I want to get the wheels re-done, powder coated gloss black
  6. Not that easy unfortunately. It's a single piece of metal, the 2 Alan bolts clamp it onto the dipstick but the original bit is gonna have to come off first
  7. Has anyone else swapped their dipstick handle? My girlfriend bought me one of these https://www.z1motorsports.com/chrome-and-engine-dress-up/zspec/zspec-350z-billet-aluminum-dipstick-handle-p-11691.html They look easy enough to install, but the OEM one looks like it's gonna be a pain to get off. Anyone know how it's done?
  8. Was thinking about getting a phone mount that would be acceptable for track days and also one of those Bluetooth obd2 sensors that links to your phone so that I can record and time laps etc. What are other people using for this, any recommendations?
  9. Was thinking about some wheel spacers for my HR. Probably 20mm rear and 15mm front. Was originally looking at eibachs but considering the price difference between them and the torqen ones esp while on sale I am considering yours... Is there any real difference between the two? If I add spacers do I need different wheel nuts or anything like that? Also, if you could put the hks air filters for the HR on sale that would be appreciated
  10. It's just taking up space in my flat so it's yours for free if you can come and collect it from Oxford.

  12. After my track day yesterday I started to hear a new noise, like something catching the wind and flapping around under the car. Sure enough it looks like there is some plastic trim loose. Parked up on the road at the moment with no good way of getting under the car but I snapped a couple of pics... From the side just by the drivers front wheel: And from the front: Anyone know what this part is called and how it attaches? hopefully I just need to find a replacement screw or clip or something...
  13. Mine arrived today, thanks @14N for going to loads of effort to match up the colour of the Z. Just wandering now if I've put it in back to front
  14. Did a l2d taster session yesterday, it was worth the discounted rate at £60 but for the amount of time you get in the car certainly not worth the full £200 price. We are going to look at one of their 3 hour sessions where you get a car + instructor to yourself for 3 hours for about £300. Will split it with 2 of us so should get plenty of driving time
  15. Bit late to the party but I've had my team since gw1 so I'm gonna get involved, sending pm now
  16. I think it may have been sprayed before but that was before I got the car. The paintwork in general needs some work (couple of small rush spots around wheel arches, stone chips on bonnet, parking dings in door and a general machine polish) but I was going to save up and get everything redone in one go properly, I guess the decision now is whether I should try and fix just this bit or live with it like that for a while until I've got the cash to get everything done at once If anyone has any body shop recommendations around Oxford that would be appreciated.
  17. My car was parked up at Gatwick airport for the last 2 weeks and upon returning to it the other day I found that someone had clipped my rear bumper and wheel arch but didn't leave a note or anything. They've put a small dent and a scratch on the wheel arch and cracked the bumper slightly, it's quite small but definitely noticeable and I imagine would cost a couple of hundred quid to fix properly. I've spoken to the car park customer service who have checked the CCTV and can't find any evidence of the accident. They've advised to report it to the police and my insurance. Before I do that I thought I'd see if anyone else has been in a similar situation and what happened with them... I currently have no claims to report when renewing my insurance and my worry is that if I report this one then for the next 5 years I'm going to take a hit on my premium for a relatively cheap repair job. What impact will claim like this usually have? I have some not very good pics of the damage. And this is the car that was parked up next to me at the time, he has a scratch which seems to match up but I guess that's not enough proof that he did it...
  18. New wishbones and front polybushes fitted today. All set up ready for my next track day
  19. Nice, any plans for it? My only experience of the non HR engine is a couple of short test drives, how do you find they compare to each other?
  20. Thanks guys, the hydrodipping was done by a place close to me, http://a1hydroprint.co.uk I was v happy with their work and when I get the centre console etc done I'll go back to them. For the 2 door bits and rear strut brace it cost me £160. I think that might be a little more than average but I suspect that having the Z done a different colour may have contributed to that a bit. Wizard, I think you have me mistaken for someone else, this is my first Z
  21. Sorry both. Had another forumer pm me yesterday and transfer postage money this morning, it's no longer available
  22. Weekend bump, willing to post at buyers expense, would have to go out and find a suitable box etc. Will keep this up for another week then I'm just gonna have to chuck it.
