  1. Had a little bit of a play with my headlights, cant tell in the pics that much but basically blacked out the non reflective parts and magnifier and then added some new led strips for DRL and also sequential indicators which is pretty cool ( runs from inner to outer with amber when indicating like the new audis)
  2. Can't Believe i didn't try that!! i am totally doing that this weekend.. mind=Blown!
  3. You can get new dampers from ebay etc much cheaper than nissan, go for the ones that are rated for a tailgate spoiler. They are stronger, it helps. If its still not strong enough then new springs.. Have you removed the boot lid weight? There is a really pointless weight bolted into the boot lid also, does nothing, if anyone knows why it's there please enlighten me! Anyhoo, remove weight, fit spoiler dampers, if still no success try springs but I didn't need to go as far as changing the springs on mine.
  4. Pre-warning.. i made a mistake when i was doing this repair.. don't use any more than 2 of those tap washers on each pop spring.. i did it with 2 and it was still catching every now and again.. i put a 3rd on 1 side to try it and then the missus being rather heavy handed slammed the lid down 1 day and the little metal bar that slides back in the middle of the spring bottomed out on the lid so i now have a tiny little bulge dent on 1 side of the tailgate where the little bar bottomed out, really winds me up... 2 spacers max, or 3 but be very careful not to slam the lid...
  5. I'm going to black the lights, handles, wheels etc same as the Z badges when I get time.. It's all a bit miss matched at the moment
  6. Toffee apple is the way they explain the finish on the back of the tin funny enough.. It's called candy apple red lacquer.. Best result is painted over a silver base coat but I wanted a slightly darker finish so went straight over the red
  7. It's the original red paint but it's been coated with a candy red lacquer.. Looks amazing when the light hits it but I'm terrified of chips or scratches because its impossible to match.. Respray every time!
  8. Treated the z to a good old fashioned wash so I could finally upload some pics!
  9. Pics as she sits at the moment.. Still got a few bits to do but what a colour
  10. That might be perfect. I will send you a pm.. It's mainly just the front lenses I need to replace but I think it's going to be easier just to swap the units over then I can have a fiddle with my old ones and not be scared about breaking them by accident
  11. Not much visually changed but I don't think Ive uploaded a pic at all yet.. I will take some tomorrow after I've treated it to a wash..
  12. erm.. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 27..? Dont you just love touch screen!
  13. Any chance you've still got the front headlights?
  14. Hi guys, Thought I better post here again.. It seems I joined in 3017 when I first got my Z but then I got so tangled up browsing for fixes I've literally never been back on and logged in until today! For shame! Anyhoo.. Turns out they guys I bought my Z from were not the most honest.. They filled her up with some rather thick oil to stop the smoke cloud on startup and sold her to me in full working order.. Obviously after I serviced it.. Death cloud! I should point out.. I'm new to 350zs or at least I was.. And it already had a catch can fitted. My assumption then brought me to valve stem seals.. So I took it off the road, waited for a few (8) months until I had the time to take her to bits.. Then realised the catch can had been fitted the wrong way round and the plenum was sucking the oil from the bottom of the can. That put right, I took it for a test run and filled the catch can in 30miles!... Did some fore research and had a chat with my mechanic friend and we decided the best way forward was to drill out the Pcv, blank off the plenum and stick a breather filter on the other side of the catch can. This seems to have sorted the problem but please tell me if anyone has any additional info I might have missed. After that I've spent a small fortune fixing the other bugs.. Corroded badges, rear tailgate lifters, rear tailgate springs/poppers, window motors, scratched trim etc. Anyway.. Hi again, now I've got her back on the road and I'm looking to do some small but fun alterations I should be alot more active. Thanks!
  15. Hi guys, I'm having a huge issue trying to source some headlights.. The lenses on mine are full of little spider cracks. After some digging I've decided not to dig deep and replace for aftermarkets.. I want to get myself an old set of OEMs, split them open and style them myself.. Demons eyes, DRL kit, sequential indicator strips etc.. But, I've spent about 2 weeks finding breakers on ebay and messaging them.. The headlights seem to be like rocking horse.. Erm, food? Anyone got a set they might be willing to part with? Oh, if it helps, I've got a 2002 import so 2003spec with the HIDs as low beam and rubbish yellow standard high beams.
