  1. Apart from the red band position marker. What's else is the difference? My 370 wheel Is supposed to be "leather"... I'm sure it's never seen an animal
  2. Unless your N54 had all of this replaced before you bought it And lets be honest, theres a bit more potential in an N54 than a VQ37 at the end of the day Of course... And so it should with 2 turbo's on from the factory.. I do like the N54 and they can go to big bhp... but for ya man who doesn't realise what he is buying then they can be a shocker for bills
  3. Aye.. I have only had 7 engines out of 98x cars and had them rebuilt.. I take it that you know about the piston liner failure that causes the scoring? Presume so.... depending on what bits fall off bore degradation can be rapid... Let's not get into the chains that snap or the ims bearings that collapse... Feel free to roll the dice.... 10% is a fair estimate but it's not a game I will play anymore... had 3 x 911's and they have all been @*!#..
  4. 987 isn't a reliable car at all... Engine problems are rife, boroscope can see what's happening on the day.. A week later you could be into a full rebuild.. Even the DFI units are now starting to score bore .. Gearboxes have poor detents and syncro's and jump out of gear.. Poor engineering with big price tags
  5. Boxster / Cayman reliable? No no no.... I think one of the only cars that meet a comparison is the BMW Z4... maybe Audi TT.. But if you want one with 300bhp+ And a similar year/mileage then you will pay plenty
  6. Oh....Pretty sure DCT's are more than £5k...
  7. The thing is..... Anything that 300bhp has potential to throw big bills at you. I cant think of any car thats an exception... You have to try and get low miles if budget permits and thats the best safeguard.. Im not saying higher miles are a bad thing, just low miles will let your mind sleep easier.
  8. What do you mean by "thicker " mat Colin ? Mine seems to have a plastic type wheel cover, then an undermat then the boot carpet with 370z lettering
  9. Yea.. I have some sound deadening foam On the way that I'm gonna cut to mat shape.. 30mm thick so should make some difference hopefully
  10. Yep... I know what you mean.. And it's just t my personal opinion of course but I do find the tyre noise far too intrusive in the cabin on the Z... I have owned 911's, Z4M's... M3,M5's, Impreza's, skyline,300Zx...XKR's... the list goes on and on, but I have been driving years, but I have never heard a cabin so noisy... I guess I'm sensitive to it as many don't seem to mind.. Ultimately it may lead me to selling the car if I can't get it too an acceptable level...
  11. Ah get ya.... Yep the 35i can be a bit sketchy on trim level, the 35is seems to have lots better standard spec.
  12. Hi Andy. Berks is ace, just out of my price range though Cheers..
  13. Hmm, Not easy eh,would hate to throw big money at tyres for the sake of sound and not have any discernible difference...
  14. Reality means it must have full BMW dealership history i guess... Or if an indy has serviced the car then receipts from BMW service department to correspond with service dates. Many if not most have full BMW history though i would have thought...
  15. December bump.. Might treat myself for xmas though..
  16. I have a 40" snap on cab and box.. It has a lot more drawers than that though... Lots of large drawers might be a bit useless.. I guess it depends on your line of work..
  17. I like vredestein tyres, they are on of my favourites Are you saying the 370 is still very noisy on them ? I feel that anything must be an improvement over 4 yr old Bridgestone RFT's
  18. N54 is a forged engine in 35is They are tough but turbo's do fail... and you have to pull the engine to fit new ones...look at £2500-£3000. High pressure fuel pump Low pressure pump Injectors Water pump Vanos solenoids Cam ledge bearings All common things.... Again you need a warranty
  19. The 35is is a very good car Very different price point to the Z though I have had one and I would advise to never run one without warranty.. The bills can be ruinous... Good luck
  20. Hardly risky..... No real horror stories... A BMW 35is could empty your pockets if it went wrong, and if it gets over 60k,the warranty is close to £1000 a year..
  21. I find the suspension is awesome for the car that it is.. I had a line of BMW Z4's...And the suspension was like concrete on them... Road noise is very high, but im still on original Bridgestone RFT's.... Im gonna get them off soon. But the noise when i first bought it was alarming, coming from a Jag XKR i thought there was something wrong with the Z...
