  1. Very interested in this thread! As someone else has said, talk about making lemonade out of lemons!
  2. Bit of a late update on this but just to keep this thread alive and show the car is still being worked on; I replaced the spark plugs and found it was a good thing to do as the ones that were in there were ~5mm too short. So now it's at least got the correct items in: Once that was done, I gave the engine bay a nice spruce up:
  3. Bloody hell your intake is shiny! Congrats on finding & fixing the leak.

    ARB drop links

Morning All, I've got a 350GT 'Skyline' (It's almost embarrassing calling it a 'skyline' ) Anyway! It's got the brembo brakes and the 'performance' pack, which basically means the same suspension that the UK 350z's came with. I'm after some front drop links (they look like an 'X' cross-section). Nothing upgraded, but can anyone make any suggestions on make/supplier? Thanks
  5. Cracking build! and I LOVE the colour! Always had a thing for purple
  6. Another little update: I waxed the inside of the wings before getting the arch liners back in:
  7. Cheers I did some more digging afternoon posting and came to the same conclusion. Glad I’m changing them!
  8. So guys, here’s one. I removed the old plugs and went to fit the news ones but noticed a pretty big difference in length. Anyone had this? My money is on the old plugs being wrong, or would that be a silly assumption?
  9. Not sure how many pictures you can upload to this site directly but here are 2 to remind you:
  10. Ah, seems like photobucket doesn’t need like too many people viewing through embedded links. The last batch have been through imgur, I’ll have to re-upload them. I’m replying on my phone right now, which is painful, but we’ll need to talk more about how your importing goes! I’m very keen on getting something over but have no experience of doing it.
  11. Then finally, something I've been meaning to do for a while; repair a dent / scuff. The previous owner had scuffed this corner previously, had it repaired by the likes of a smart repair tech and them promptly scuffed the same point again and given up. As it had already been repaired, I thought I couldn't make it any worse! So figured I'd try sorting it: First I filled the dent in the wing and the heavy scuffs on the bumper, then primed and sanded then both separately. To make sure all the surfaces were covered, I painted them both off the car, then mounted them to paint them in the same orientation and hopefully get a better match. I'm yet to buff it all but fingers crossed!
  12. Next up was the big job of tiding up the front arches:
  13. Afternoon all. Time for another update; this was all done at the same time but I'll try and split it up by job. So first off, the strut tops had some light surface rust, which on a G35 isn't covered by a strut brace, so I set about sorting that. Everything ground back, treated, primed and painted: While I was doing that, I tidied up various brackets:

  15. Not to step in and put someone off a purchase but I will say that that the connecting part mentioned above is a big job to replace! Plus, in my humble opinion (and I'm sure the 'nissan engineers know best!' argument will come up) I don't think it does all that much, having studied where it mounts etc. If anything, it looked like an assembly aid to hang various other bits off in the factory. When I say 'hang' I literally do mean hang; when un-done, it's suspended with some small plastic straps.
  16. Thanks for the replies guys. I went with @Tarmac@TarmacSportz because the deal and postage made them cheaper. Not sure if you're joking @Adrian@TORQEN or not, but if you're serious, Thanks! but please draw again and pick another winner as I've no need for them now
  17. Cheers guys. Can't help but notice the plugs needed for a a turbo set-up are cheaper...are you trying to suggest something?
  18. Hi all, Just jumping in on this thread as I've done a fair bit of forum searching. Which of the traders on here could supply a set of plugs for a VQ35DE (2003 350GT Skyline) I think I'll go for some Denso Iridium Powers...or whatever might be on offer. Thanks
  19. Morning All, Seems the noise mine is making might be 'normal'...which is kind of worrying. Similar to those above, I thought it was the clutch release bearing so replaced that along with the clutch and putting a lightened flywheel on. The noise was still there, and if anything, a bit more pronounced when warm. The worst bit is changing gear quickly at higher revs; it's still smooth but you can hear 'backlash' when you lift off to change gear. Does this sound familiar with anyone else or is this worse than normal? I'll try and get a video at some point.
  20. Hi All, Monumental thread bump on this! As the car is a weekend toy, the noisy gearbox hasn't bothered me too much but I would really like to get it sorted now. So, to recap, the CD009 is the box to go for, correct? and there are no issues with these? Would it go straight into / on a 2003 model or would there be any other bits needed like slave cylinder etc? Thanks all.
  21. Thanks guys. Stu, you're right, it is a peace of mind thing and even though it's a weekend car, I don't mind taking it out in the rain because it's all protected now. Strudul, I used a Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80 to treat any rust (after it was ground back) and then used some unheard of brand paint tbh. I bought this paint to spray some bits of metal in the garden and found it was really good! Luckily I had a load of it left so I used that. It's actually a hammered finish very dark anthracite colour.
  22. Finally, painting the underside and putting it back together: Once that was all done, I filled every possible box section with bilt hamber cavity wax. And there you have it! Nobody will ever see any of it lol, well, apart from you guys.
  23. Update time!! Now I've got a new laptop and I'm using imgur to save/upload pictures, I can finally enlighten you all to the work I've been doing over the last few months. So it all started off with taking the car to get the tracking done and finding the rear camber bolts were all pretty seized. I figured then was a good a time as any to strip everything down and clean it all up. Any rust was ground down, treated and then painted. At that point I realised I wasn't going to get the results I wanted without removing the subframe completely, so that happened: Everything that came off got de-rusted, painted and filled with wax: I tried a product called 'evaporust' to soak things in and I have to say, it worked brilliantly! I broke a few clips and snapped a bolt, and after calling the dealer, got everything ordered but couldn't get a certain nut apparently, so I had to get creative to save it: ....then it turned out they could get it, so that was a waste of time. More painting of things and making of gaskets:
  24. I sometimes do this to zed owners but they don't see me as one of the gang My 350gt is the same under the skin but they don't see it
