  1. Hi all. My car is booked in for its mot this week but I'm a bit worried it'll fail on the state of the 'W' brace, which (like most) is badly corroded and looks a state! Is this checked as part of the mot? Can I simply remove it before hand if it is? Thanks in advance! Chris
  2. We're these the ones selling on fleabay for £450 but just reduced to £350? Would defo have had these but just ordered the whiteline equivalent a few days ago :/ Glwts!
  3. I've already doused every moving part with ptfe spray with no luck, but I'll give your suggestion a whirl
  4. Hi all, My 350's rear end squeaks like and old victorian sprung bed when ever I go over a bumpy road surface. I know it's really noticeable as I've had people I kow mentioned it to me, that I've driven past. I've done a search on here and came up with the rear arb drop links to be at fault, which I changed out. Now although they defo needed changing, it hasn't stopped the squeaking. Any ideas what could still cause this? I had a good look whilst changing the links but there's nothing obvious. Any help/advice appreciated. ......it's driving me nuts!!
  5. See this ginger zed quite often....anyone on here?
  6. I know this has been covered on here before, but my windscreen washer hasn't worked since I've had the car, and thought it's about time to sort this out! When I try and use the windscreen wash (front or rear)it activates the headlight wash initially, if I try again it won't do anything to any of the washers at all. Anyone had this or any ideas why it's doing this, before I start ripping bits off to have a look? Thanks in advance! Chris
  7. Just checked. Mines the more basic model MVH-AV279BT, but everything is working without exception!
  8. The intermittent wiper has 6 settings which are really good!
  9. Yep.....just found it! I'm going to take it all back now and take the incoming mocking I deserve!!
  10. Disagree!! One setting only, which iirc goes off once every 40 seconds or so. Had a two hour drive back from Milton Keynes in drizzle getting increasingly frustrated with it. Not enough rain to turn the wiper onto constant and intermittent is so far between wipes as to make it as much use as tits on a fish!
  11. The intermittent front wiper setting is about as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike....fact!
  12. Just fitted exactly the same head unit using the same method, with the exception of the handbrake cable which I just tucked away with no apparent problems. Just an additional: if not already aware, the dimpled plastic centre console marks VERY easily.....as I found out 😕
  13. Just run Busters mod after fitting a pioneer head unit and noticing I had to crank it up to full to get much sound. Also thought it had four pre outs, but only two and a set for a sub woofer. The Buster mod worked brilliantly thank you! Anyone though of starting a How To section?
  14. Had no idea that Simon had passed away! Great guy and brilliant mapper. Got my impreza close to the magic 400hp with his mapping skills. I'll agree that the speeds that you can get to whilst live mapping can get inappropriate and that you're totally in the hands of the guy driving....usually a stranger as you said, but it still makes sense to me that a car mapped on the road will make the power on the road, where as a car mapped solely on a dyno can make great figures on the dyno, but chances are it won't be the same power on the road. Much like training two athletes, one on the road and one on the tread mill. I know who'll be quicker in the real world
  15. Simon (Jolly Green Monster) has a huge reputation in the Subaru world and feels much the same way about mappers who solely map on a dyno. Besides, I remember a certain guy called Jez from a place called Horsham Developments who once live road mapped my impreza.....without a dyno in sight. Made good numbers on Surrey Rolling Road the same day. I'm not a mapper by any stretch but but the argument is that the fuel/timing cells that get adjusted on a dyno are then 'out' when put on a real road due to things which cannot be recreated on a dyno, like cooling, drag, road resistance etc etc Like I said it's an age old argument and a big old can of worms, though a dyno is certainly a good tool.
  16. Looks similar to the K4 system that came with mine when I bought it a few weeks ago. It's fully decatted and immensely loud!
  17. Stillen Louvres on flea bay for £215 Ebay number: 121507299281 HTH
  18. +1 All my previous cars have been live road mapped. A car which has been solely mapped on a dyno can be made to produce those figures on a dyno. ...whether that then translates to the same power on the road is an age old argument, as you cannot accurately reproduce actual road conditions on a dyno
  19. I was always advised to stay away from uprated radiator caps by the guy who used to live map my impreza. His take on it was that the standard cap is designed to relieve pressure from the cooling system at a given pressure. If you then put a higher rated cap on it, any excess pressure has to work harder to release through the cap, and is more likely to find weaker areas in the coolant system to vent the excess pressure, including, potentially, your head gaskets. If the cap is regularly venting then there's an issue! IMO if you're worried about running higher coolant temps, Id look at uprating the radiator and/or run waterless coolant
  20. That's awesome. I'll start putting my shopping list together
  21. Ah thanks for the input. So ideally I'd be looking at coilovers. Looking at the Bilsteins and uprated spring cost, not much more pennies would see a reasonable set of coilies. What's the standard ARB size and what's a recommended upgrade? I'd normally look at powerflex for poly bushes but they don't seem to do them for the 350.
  22. Tbh it doesn't roll too badly on the standard ARBs (which may be uprated at a later date) but the oem spring/damper set up is quite soft and feels and performs like it's been set up more with comfort in mind than turning ability. It's OK up to a point, then it goes all boing-weave-wobble-boing round the bends lol
  23. After coming from a focus RS, I've found the suspension on the Zed a bit wallowy in the bends, especially when approaching said bends in an enthusiastic manner I just want to sharpen/stiffen up the suspension a bit and want to know if a spot of lowering springs will do the trick? I've done a search and it looks like most are just going for the lowered looks more than anything.
  24. Any pics with the rear lip fitted? Potentially interested
