  1. That's what I did, a gradual process, I'm getting mine mapped again as I now have a nice shiny polished plenum to go on and the airbox mod is now sorted.

I did exhaust and HFCs before I had it mapped the first time and made 15bhp. My 90k mile DE surprised me pulling 281bhp pre map and 296 after. Hopefully with the plenum spacer and air box mod I should see just over 300bhp (Obviously an estimate on true power on the dyno)

I would have done it all sooner but some face lift bi xenon front lights came up at a good price :)

For an old car 05 I'm pretty impressed with it tbh.

This has been the first car I've modified in 15 years and it's quite addictive, I scoffed at the term Zeditus when first joining the forum but now I'm hooked.

Once the plenum has been done I'm going to concentrate on the overall stance with a decent fast road handling set up and bodywork enhancements to complement the face lift lighting all round.

I'm the very same, it's been over 20 years since I've done any work on cars but it's becoming quite addictive.

There's always something you can add or enhance.

I like subtle so I'm kinda limited.

Getting my lights done on the 20th (Sequential indicators LEDS and a matt black paint job)

    Looking forward to it.

p.s I'm not even kidding but i still don't know what a plenum is.

I've never got round to googling it because i never intended changing anything.

    lol

  2. Hi all, I was thinking about a remap as my car has a limiter on it ( 06 Roadster Import)

    It's limited to 120mph.

What's the good and bad about remapping?

Will it improve my BHP and will it affect my fuel consumption?

Is it really worth it and who's the best in the Glasgow area?

I don't really have a clue as the last time i needed my old car tuned up (1.6 sport mk2 Escort) I took it to a mechanic and he done it without a laptop and dyno etc, good old fashioned spanners and screwdrivers lol.

I'm getting old by the way.

Anyhow, if anyone can help me out i'd appreciate it.

Oh and Brummiestormer and Dougtosh can you send me those links we spoke about (driving lights and loom for steering wheel controls)

    Thanks lads.

  3. Hey ppl! Was nice to meet u all today and have a quick chat with some of u. Shame I couldn't stay out to play but have to pay the bills, just back, where are all the photos? Or is everyone too drunk/shaking from all the slip and slides on those windy roads?

Cheers Robert, did Dougy fix your radio? Sorry I couldn't help but the last sound system I had in a car was when I was 17 now I am half def from my exhaust so don't use them much.

No,but i'm going to take a run through to his place and fit the loom for the steering wheel, so we'll maybe fix the radio problem then.

Shame we couldn't make the whole journey, saw you leaving at Inveruglas.

I wasn't far behind you, I left at Tyndrum.

Your car is an absolute beast man.

I mean that in the nicest possible way.

Anyhow, nice to see you and the others today, what a nice bunch of lads (and ladies)

Some beautiful cars on display, made me feel kinda sad actually when i look at mine.

I'm trying bit by bit to improve it.

Enjoy the trip everyone and stay safe.

Avon skin so soft (Forest scent),

    Works every time.

    That or Jungle fever.

  7. My work's not even 5 minutes away

I take the car every day, I put my miles on at the weekend.

Wouldn't change a thing about the Zed.

It's dear to run but worth every penny.

The only gripe I have is the squeaky console.

  8. Some photos i took yesterday..

How would I go about getting the Z badge on the cubby like that? Is it a simple case of buying a badge and sticking it on? Are there any clearance issues? I think that looks fantastic :).

    Yep, it's that simple.

I lost my rear badge and some kind soul on here had a spare.

I was down at the hand wash place a few weeks later and the lad came out and handed my old one back.

It must have fell off when they were washing it.

Anyhow, stuck the spare one on there, it just clears it with no abrasion.

It looks good i think and it's not overdone.

    Thanks

  9. I so need to do this now.

    I've been threatening for weeks.

    But on slightly different note..

    Fixed my skoosher problem today.

There was no pressure at all and there were certainly no "jets", so i removed the small inline filter and joined the pipes with a small insert.

Window skoosher is now known as turbo wash.

I got all the info on this forum again.

    Thanks

  10. I wasn't told to keep mine up when mine was changed. Is this important as if it is, it's another fudge up by junction 17 cars!!

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

When the guy done mine he said to leave it up for about 4 days, let it stretch and shrink.

He also told me not to put any sort of detergent on it when washing the car, the same for any protectants as well, he said once you start applying these things you have to keep it up and that the roof would be waterproof for a few years untill you need to coat it.

When you do start using the sealent/protectant he said to do it every 6 months (before the winter/summer)

I forgot to mention mines is Mohair.

I think with your last question it'd be ok to put the roof down for a while but not too long, it needs to stretch.

    Hope this helps you.

    .

ps i need door rubbers too (top ones) so if any traders are reading this could you help me out?

    Cheers

    Robert
