  1. agreed...however you gloss over the small point, that all reported faults are the same - one is unfortunate, twice a coincidence, we spotted a few more than 2 with same fault though, hence voicing concern to get other view points Re low octane usage - why doesnt the knock sensor(s) & ECU handle low compression fuels? That's true but there are approx. 5500 350's left in the UK which means that accounting for write-offs we can safely assume there were over 6000 made. Even if 300 people have written about issues, it's still only a 5% incidence which isn't horrific for a performance car. As I understand it, the ECU won't retard once over 5000 revs so think of it like a cheap tax for people who put 95 Ron in their cars. Nissan were like 'you want to put cheap fuel in it? Fine, but you can't floor it properly'
  2. I've considered the rear wiper delete but not sure I like the idea of a plastic grommet in it's place! I've had a quick go in my mates GT86. It's a nice place to be and it feels light and agile. The power is lower than most of its rivals but it still feels quick when accelerating. The piped in induction noise is pretty sweet too.

  5. Why would her salary need to increase? Why would it not? I wouldn't be signing a new contract that gave me (in my eyes) worse terms without a financial increase to make up for it. That's fair enough. I don't think an increase in notice period automatically requires a rise in pay to compensate though. Having said that, I'm with you and I'd be questioning any detrimental change.
  6. Yeah, and It takes less than 2 seconds for something to go horribly wrong. I never said I'd convict the guy, I said he was driving like an idiot. It's my opinion of his driving from watching the video. You have a right to take the opposite opinion and you're welcome to it.
  7. It's the old problem where only people with issues will start threads so it ends up looking like all the boxes are bad. In reality, for every person who asks about gearbox issues there are countless more who say nothing because their gearbox is fine. You're hardly likely to start a thread along the lines of 'Gearbox running beautifully today'!

  9. The 350 I've just bought has a resonated Cobra exhaust. I don't find it drones at all at motorway speeds. The only time you get any drone is accelerating in 5th/6th gear but once you drop to cruising it goes quiet.
  10. Due to there being a change in contract, there's not a lot she can do other than accept the new contract, try to negotiate different terms or refuse to sign the new contract. She could question the new notice terms and determine whether this is normal for her new role or whether it's something they've only applied to her. There should be an employee manual that states the companies policy regarding notice periods. If her notice differs from that it would be reasonable for her to ask why it differs. If they can't provide a valid reason then I don't think they could reasonably enforce it as it could be classed as discriminatory. This is all from my basic understanding of contracts and HR. Please take professional advice before making any further move. Acas (http://www.acas.org.uk/index.aspx?articleid=1461) are an independent advice service for HR matters and would be the best people to contact. I hope you can sort it out.
  11. The guy drove like an idiot then posted the video on a public site. He has only himself to blame. Anyone who uses a phone whilst driving deserves everything they get, that's far more dangerous that the excessive speed imho. That's not to say I never drive like an idiot but I'd never post similar to a public site, you're just asking for trouble. The sentence does seem excessively harsh though, I'll give him that.
  12. I'd also read about road noise when researching before buying a 350. When I first went for a test drive, I was pleasantly surprised how quiet it was. I'd say it's no louder than any other car I've owned and considerably quieter than my TF, although that was a drop top.

  15. The first tank of free petrol is already long gone ha ha! I haven't found any issues with the MPSS slipping yet but I haven't been giving it full beans in corners yet either. I'm based up north near Liverpool and working on Sunday so won't make Beaulieu I'm afraid.

  17. I looked at a Cayman and a Boxster when deciding what to get and the issue I had with both was maintenance. I have no doubt that the Cayman is a better sports car, the question is whether it's better for your intended use. In this case, the 350Z fitted my intended use (daily driver) and the amount of money I was willing to invest so that's what I got and I don't regret it for a second.
  18. Hi All, I now have a 350Z and it's frikkin awesome! I bought Maddog1982's from this forum. He was great and the car is a credit to him. It's the easiest car purchase I've ever made. The car is a Gun Metal '56 plate (Jan 2007) 350Z GT with all the usual GT refinements plus original dealer fit (as far as I can tell) reverse sensors and a sleek little black Nismo gear knob which I love, although it took me a bit of time to get used to the shape after always having round knobs in the past. It also has a stubby aerial already fitted. The history that came with it is huge and there are receipts for everything! It's currently on ~60000 miles and drives like new. Maddog installed a new clutch last year so that's a job I won't have to worry about any time soon . It's had the front and rear pads changed fairly recently so again shouldn't need doing any time soon. It's got Potenza's on the front which still have some meat on them but will probably need changing in the next year some time. The rears are MPSS's and still have a good amount of rubber on them. There's also a cat back Cobra resonated exhaust which makes an epic noise in the multi storey car park where I work The insurance was pleasantly affordable and they only real hit was the tax but I'm fine with that. I've had it for a week tomorrow and I'm absolutely loving it. It's easily the quickest, most powerful and most sophisticated car I've ever driven. The steering is a lovely combination of light at low speed with a weightier feeling and good feedback at higher speed. The power and torque are way above anything I've ever driven (previous most powerful was a 135bhp MGTF) but the delivery is so easily adjustable from brutal to civil that it's a pleasure to drive day to day. I like the mechanical and tight feel of the gearbox and the short throw makes quick gear changes a lot simpler. It was a little bit tight going into 5th and 6th when I got it (but no crunching) so I had a quick search on the forum and discovered the shifter plate adjustment procedure. It took me 10 mins and it now slides nicely into every gear with no tightness The ride is a lot more comfortable than I'd imagined it would be after reading reviews (head and shoulders above the TF even though that had Bilsteins) but is firm enough to maintain the great handling. The weight of the car really helps it to sit down on bumpier roads too which is also a massive difference from the jittery TF. Don't get me wrong, I loved the TF and will probably own another at some point, but the 350 is just in a different universe! The hatch was sticking on the lock when popping it so I put a penny in each of the springs as suggested and problem solved! There are a few very small parking dents in the passenger door and a few small chips hear and there but the bodywork in general is great for a 9 year old car. I live 10 mins from Revolve Automotive so I'll be popping in and bugging Ricey for a quote on getting these bits sorted sometime and potentially a front bumper respray. The Rays alloys were refurbed about a year ago and look perfect expect a very small area of kerbing on one wheel which I'll also look at getting repaired if feasible. The drivers seat bolster has a bit of wear as normally expected but nothing serious and I already have some leather colour reviver so will be sorting that in the near future. I'm not really looking to do any major mods and will likely stick to some minor cosmetic mods for the foreseeable future. I'm looking at clear reflectors, Z burger badges and possibly a head unit upgrade to start. I guess that's about it for now although I'll certainly be adding more in the near future as I find things to play with Here's a picture of it alongside my mates GT86 on the day I picked it up.   21. I came close to buying one of these but I really like juggling my watches and wearing the same one 24/7 would bore me so I decided against it in the end. I think the price is a bit expensive but not too bad considering the materials used, technology involved and quality of the finish.
  22. I think a shortened version of the 'Z' would work better. It balances better in the centre of the headrest. I threw together a (very) rough example of what I mean on paint.
