I went with the Optima Red Top 4.2R. Zed Roars into life in an instant now.
-
A big thumbs up for Halfords - the old battery (a HCB005) had a 4 year warranty and was 3 years and 9 months old. They tested it and replaced it without a quibble. Even fitted it for me. Result
So did this fix your belt squeal issue?

Update time!
Went ahead and bough the swish 6 cell battery back in November and I have to say I'm very, very pleased with it and would certainly recommend one if you can stomach the price (£130 ish).
I'm ashamed to say I don't use my Zed that often any more since the R33 unexpectedly entered my life back in January. But there's been a few times recently that I haven't used the 350 for a fortnight and go to start it on a cold day and it roars into life with absolutely no hesitation at all. I will be gradually replacing all of my batteries with the 6 cell technology.

So Nissan came to our office with a range of vehicles to test drive (Note, Juke, Quash, Leaf, X-Trail). I gave the Leaf a spin and it wasn't bad at all.
Out of curiosity, I asked if he has the Club discount pricing for 370 and GT-R at hand. The GTR is around 10% he said and needs to be confirmed with Nissan before someone can purchase it on the Club Discount.
The 370z however has 20% across the whole range. which according to his table of figures means I could pick up a 370z Nismo new for 30k as opposed to the usual of 38k! Which can then be bought outright or taken on a PCP....tempting.

Without wanting to totally hijack the thread anyone reccomend someone who can do a similar sort of thing (full detail + ceramic coating) in North Yorkshire/Richmond area?? Obviously because it up North I'm expecting it to be half the price....
Hey bud, being from West Yorkshire myself I'm shocked daily at how much things cost down south lol. I can't help you I'm afraid, I would Google and call a few places

Spotted you in my rear view as you stopped behind me at the lights
Floored it on orange
Kept up behind me all the way to my office, saw a grin on your face as I turned off

Thanks Lee! Was great meeting you all and seeing all the awesome rides, great turn out! I think a D1 throttle controller is gonna be my next mod after hearing about it from buster and then seeing it in action on Hodakas ride

Iv'e been subscribed to his videos for some time now, very informative and well explained.
Also, check out the CarThrottle channel, its a UK run channel, very funny car videos.
MusclevsTuner is also a funny one, run by some southern US guys.
And if you have Netflix, I highly recommend the documentary 'A Faster Horse' about Ford and the design & production of the new 2015 Mustang, was added to their library recently I believe.

Looking forward to it! My first Zed Meet I may have finally put my Hydro Dipped Rims on too
-
Think I will avoid doing any of these things and just keep using Vpower religiously.
Exactly what I've been doing since i got my car, Shell Drivers club is great too, get money of fuel every quarter.

I've just booked in for the start of April, he did me a deal on the full detail with paint protection @ £300 so I'm going to suck it up and see how good it is.
Mine is a black 370z which has a lot of swirls and generally looks to have been not well looked after by the previous owner. It should be a tough job for him
Good to hear, let us know how it goes I'm thinking to book early side of April as well, was going to get it done this month but thought I'd let them settle in first, they have recently moved to a new facility. Also need to get my insurance renewal quote next month
-
Actually it may have been a 370, i cant remember now lol, it was a black car at night lol
-
I thought so aswell from behind, but it defo was a 350 from the side view, one of the later models.

Anyone used the seafoam product, gets good reviews
Dont touch it , its rubbish , have seen it wreck engines
It's effective, so effective in fact that it can also be dangerous, either avoid, or use it carefully.
An alternative would be Terraclean.
I'd be very wary of using Terraclean myself also
Really!? I'll have to do some more research, so far iv'e read that it can't fully clean all areas of the engine if it's direct fuel injection, which leads to my question is the 2004 VQ35DE Multi-Port or Direct?
EDIT: It uses SFI (Sequential Fuel Injection) which is just a more efficient version of Multi-Port according to Z Wiki: http://www.350z-tech...hp?title=VQ35DE

Used 10K boost (spray can through the air intake) On 3 seperate cars including the Zed. A ton of crap came out the back of the two ford focuses, not as much crap came out the Zed when I used it at 74K miles, which leads me to think that the previous owner was using V-Power regularly or has used a cleaner himself before.
Anyway, noticed a huge difference on the two ford's in terms of acceleration and power, noticed little difference with the Zed.
Iv'e also used Cataclean (put down the fuel tank) on the Zed. This one gave me a much a smoother idle, and the emmission figures at MOT test came in Low, so it's done something good.
Iv'e got some Halford voucher taking up space in my wallet so looking to try a different brand soon, iv'e heard the Lucas Oil brand is the best one out there from two separate mechanics.
And many dealership garages use BG44K when they service vehicles.

Might be good to have a back up place, as a plan B. If the first person arrives and sees there's not gonna be enough space, post on the thread to let others know to head to the alternative place?
Car squealing on start up
in 350Z General
Posted · Edited by DarmoZ
For over a month now, I'm getting loud constant squeal from the belt which lasts 6-8 seconds immediately after I start the engine. I notice the belt squeal stops as soon as the volt reading reaches around 14v (which can take 6-8 seconds on a cold start) The Squeal happens on non cold starts too if left for more than 15 mins, although it's a not as bad / long then.
I have replaced the Battery with a brand new Optima Red top. The engine cranks into life instantly now, but the Squeal issue described above is still the same.
So this leads me to think it could be Alternator? or something else (loose belt). The belts were changed with brand new gates belts back in September 2015.
FYI in May 2015 i installed a new car audio system running a total of 900w RMS.
Any insight or advice you can give is much appreciated.
Ill add a video to demonstrate
