  1. Could somebody point me in the right direction for the hose that I need, what size do I need

    Thanks Alistair

The Mishimoto catch can is Universal hence no hoses included, but this video should give you an idea of the hoses / fasteners you will need to buy.

  2. Could this be the fix to oil consumption?

This guy replace both valves and installed an oil catch can. He said in the video description

"a good sign you can benefit from this is if you pull your front left vent line and its got a build up of oil in side.. mine dripped.. even though i first noticed also of wet oil build up when i ported the intake manifold it became more clear when i stated checking the lines"

My mechanical knowledge is crap when it comes to this, but i'm happy to buy the parts and send my mechanic this video so he can do the job. what do you guys reckon?

  3. Excuse my ignorance, but when it comes to Car knowledge my achilles heel has to be suspension.

What are the benefits of coilovers? I'm not one of those that's interested in 'style' and lowering their car (I personally don't think lowering looks good and surely can't be good for handling),

So what other functional benefits could i achieve?

  4. I used to get the distinct clutch smell (it would linger even after the car has pulled up and you could smell it when you step out) then one day the clutch went and it got replaced.

However the smell under hard acceleration past 4k rpm still remained. It's a different type of smell to the clutch one i had before (clutch smell is much more potent) Like others it's only really noticeable with windows down, and goes away after a few seconds of letting off the pedal. Since i can disregard the clutch being new, i put it down to cat's / exhaust like others have.

Edit: I also disregard belts because they have been changed recently too.

  5. Just went through your thread, alot of good work, well done!

I have received an email back from Custom Car Interior in Wales:

"Hey to answer this email shortly, yes I have seen sound man kits. I can do this for sure. My kit is better than a sound man kit tho as its completely flat on the back when the iPad is taken out. It looks more better. The sound man kit had a dent to tilt the iPad.

My custom work for custom panels are £250+ for labour.

If your interested I can talk more for sure. I'm based in the uk and can ship worldwide.

    Regards

    Marc"

Sounds promising, will need to follow up.

  6. Nice DIY Job looks very good, any reason why you choose to put it in the HU area rather than the cubby?

    Yes, i saw Rafa's finished work on a 350z here: http://www.imgrum.ne...0932515_8698440

That is exactly what i am after, i'm wondering if can ship my centre piece out to him in the US for the work to be done.

Unless you want to offer a service Wasso if people buy their own kits? You seem to be handy at fab work from the pics above :)

Iv'e also reached out to these Ipad installers for BMW's in wales for 350z quote. https://www.facebook.com/customcarinteriors

  7. This product looks like the best solution to install an iPad Mini into the cubby of the 350z:

http://www.soundmanc...ucts/sideslider - Check out the video on product page. I like it because it allows for easy slide in / slide out of the iPad with the power cable fixed into the dash.

This somewhat ready made product will still requires some fabrication work however and the video demonstrates what he did on the Toyota, which I imagine would be a very similar process for the 350z cubby.

FYI this has been discussed before:

So, because I am useless with this type of thing, my questions are:

Anyone already successfully installed this product?

If not, anyone who feels they have the skills can perhaps offer up the service for a fee?

p.s. I have already the contacted the company in America to see if he has any example guides/pics/vids of any '350zee' Installs he has done.

  8. Hey all, thought I would update the thread since the issue is now resolved.

So I diagnosed by letting it idle one night, after about 15 mins the steam started to appear again. Turns out the coolant was boiling in the reservoir, and a couple small holes / crack in the reservoir tank was letting the steam out.

Mechanic replaced the reservoir tank and got the fan working again (apparently the fan stopped due to the loss of pressure in the coolant system) it was a cheap and quick fix tbh.

Funny thing is the temp gauge never rose past half way all this time....go figure.

  9. Opening the bonnet would be my first step !

Yeh she swung by in the morning all worried lol, opened bonnet up and no visible smoke / steam etc, but coolant was low so i topped it up and she went on her way to work, which is when she took the video.

I did get an advisory on recent service for Exhaust manifold torn / leaking, so could be that. And in the past iv'e had to change the water pump as coolant was going down faster than i could top it up.

Gonna take it back to the same place that did the service to have an inspection.
