  1. Thanks Snjur! With other cars, on other forums, some people report possible premature gearbox/synchro wear with short shifters, but I've also heard a lot who say it's a great improvement. Funnily enough, I've just put a weighted gear knob on this evening, so will see how I get on with that first! From what I can make out, there doesn't seem to be any negatives with engine dampers, save for the outlay! I wonder whether those who've fitted them have noticed a difference? Seems like a good way to reduce engine movement without going down the urethane / solid mounts route, from which there's generally a subsequent increase in NVH.
  2. GSF 40% off till midnight tomorrow (21/02/16): "CDE40" 5% off at sparkplugs.co.uk "SPRING-PROMO-2016"
  3. Thought I'd do the formal introduction thing; my name's Lee and I'm from Poole! Bought jimboy2's 350Z HR, 39k, few tasty mods incl Cobra res catback, Berks HFCs, HKS drop-ins, UpRev remap... Few tasteful exterior mods too; when I've given her a clean, I'll post some pics up. It's been well looked after; I love driving it, not been brave enough to turn esp off yet but it's been cold & wet & I'm getting used to the drivetrain etc - haven't quite mastered the clutch speed one requires for the perfect change yet, but enjoying finding out! Have booked a skid-pan session at Thruxton for next week (there's a current promotion on till end of Feb - call them up on 01264882222 and quote "project pictogram" and they'll give you 10% off: under £90 for an hour learning car control - make sure you specify you want to use your own car!) Also booked a few track days; can't wait! Bedford in March, Brands in May, Silverstone in November and thinking about Oulton in July as well I've found everyone on here to be very helpful so far and I'm looking forward to Z-ownership
  4. I'm thinking about getting a short shifter and engine damper; I'm keen to hear people's experiences with the different available options
  5. GSF 40% off until 21/02/16: "CDE40" Sparkplugs.co.uk have a spring promotion on "SPRING-PROMO-2016" Apologies, think I should have posted in the aftermarket section!
  6. GSF have a 40% discount until tomorrow (21st Feb '16) that includes Bosch lambda sensors "cde40" Sparkplugs.co.uk sell lambda sensors and have a spring promotion on "SPRING-PROMO-2016"
  7. Plugs & coolant arrived There's a 5% discount code that came with the plugs from sparkplugs.co.uk "SPRING-PROMO-2016" Ordered Thursday and the plugs from sparkplugs.co.uk & coolant from vospers both arrived today (Sat); great service! Reading a guide on here, it suggested renewing the radiator cap at 30,000 miles and coolant hoses at 60,000 miles - does that sound right? I've had my eye on some new hoses, but wouldn't have thought those or the rad cap would be routine maintenance? (Mine's done 39k)
  8. Thanks for the replies, will stick with the oem coolant and oem spark plug heat range @GMballistic and @OllyB Good shout for the website @chirag1988 , in a previous thread, @350zedd posted, "Always used Denso FXE22HR-11 for the VQ35HR engine However, these plugs have now been superceded by the VFXEH22 which were introduced in 2010. Have a platinum tip and are part of their Iridium Tough Series. So I guess you can use either, the VFXEH22 being the latest version" So looked up the newer code using the website and the newer version is cheaper and also there's an even cheaper option (the TT) & it's listed as being compatible with both the older and newer codes and as being even more advanced! http://www.sparkplugs.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=VFXEH22&x=0&y=0
  9. I've read a lot of threads on here, the manual and did some online searching, but I'm a bit unsure on the correct plugs to get. Was looking at these as I'm happy to spend a bit more if the performance is better. http://www.torqen.uk...0003-m40hl.html Has anyone had any experience with these plugs? They has a higher heat range, which translates to being a colder plug and this is better if using wide open throttle for sustained periods of time (whereas a hotter plug with a lower heat range is meant to be better for shorter stop/start driving). Mine is N/A with a few exhaust upgrades, I do a mix of shorter commuting (approx 20mins) and am planning on three or four track days a year. I'm thinking I'd be better to stick with the standard heat range plugs as my driving is a mix of the two extremes of driving (short commute & wide open throttle track days), however if the linked spark plugs offer better performance and the cons are minimal, I think I'd go with them! From what I gather, the oem ones are the denso iridiums and ngk also do iridiums but some people seem to think the denso is a safer bet (from threads on here - all other opinions and experience welcomed!) I've not done much research on coolant yet. Anyone have any suggestions on coolant type & where to get?
