I had the same problem, till I realised you need to remove the white bit, you'll need to do a ecu reset, if the engine warning light is on, there's a guide on here and on the net how to do it. Just be patient it's all about timing, good luck!
I've owned two Honda's, still have three in the family a CRV, civic type-r (ep3) and civic vti (em1) and never had an issue with any.
There are really easy cars to work on and maintain and also vtec always bring a little fun factor to it.
I would say do the normal checks, check for rust.

Sorry to bring up a really old thread. But I've recently received d1 throttle controller as a xmas present and for the life of me, I can't figure it out.
I've connected everything, followed the guide on here and tried connecting the connectors other way around but it seems like the unit isn't getting an power at all. Anyone got any ideas?
