Mild effort was not enough! After 3 coats of primer and 3 coats of Satin in looked like this:

Great from a metre away but bad close up. Learned the valuable lesson that paint doesn't hide bad prep.

Sighed a bit, then resanded the piece. Mixture of 320 and 600 again, but mostly 600 and the last bit done under running water - presumably a variation on wetsanding. Very effective anyway.

Now looks like this - ready for round 2:

The plus side was that I discovered the driver's side was either gloss, or satin + clear coat... need to do some test pieces for a proper match.

Just do both then it'll definitely match.  Probably wont take too much longer than doing the one and mucking about with testing paint and lacquer.

    The list in full:

    1. Jaguar XKR (2006-2014)

    2. Jaguar XK (2006-2014)

    3. Volkswagen Golf (2003-2008)

    4. Nissan 350 Z (2002-2009)

    5. Renault Megane (2002-2009)

    6. Jaguar XJ (2003-2009)

    7. Subaru Impreza (2000-2007)

    8. BMW M3 Coupe (2000-2006)

    9. Mazda MX-5 (1989-1997)

    10. Ford Fiesta (2008-2017)

    Or...

    1. Car bought by old people who are likely blind and with crap reactions

    2. See above

    3. Driven by mums, chavs and old people. None of which are great drivers.

    4. Cheap powerful RWD. Say no more.

    5. It's French. Probably fell apart and caused it's own accident.

    6. Oh look, it's another old person's Jag.

    7. Chavmobile extraordinaire.

    8. Cheap powerful RWD mostly bought by drug dealers. I rest my case.

    9. Fisher Price 'My First Sports Car'.

    10. Fisher Price 'My First Car'.

    Sums it up nicely. ;););)

    Lol didn't you have #7?

  3. It's definitely more bumpy on lower sidewall 19s than stock 18s with 45 sidewalls.  Personally I've become used to it, but my missus hates the car this way (and complains about the ride quality).  So probably not a great idea if you suffer from a bad back.

On the plus side you will definitely look better when they pull you out the car at A&E as you'll have a better stance (well on the car anyway B))
