  1. never jump off a roof when your 12 thinking a bin bag will serve as a parachute.
  2. I'm attempting mine again tonight because of the socket issue. I have a long and thin 14mm socket as part of my set, quarter inch drive and it was still too fat, as far as I can see you need a proper 14mm plug socket to make sure it fits or you could be mucking about with different sockets forever, some are thicker than others. The plug socket will have a rubber bung in it aswell so they can be withdrawn properly or you could of course use blue-tac or whatever in your socket that fits. No idea how much these plug sockets cost, couldn't imagine it would be dear but I'm lending one off my mate who is a mechanic. The rest of the job looked fairly easy even for a first timer, just take your time it's not a race and make sure you have no plans for an hour or so..
  3. What's the best thing about a gypsy on her period? When you finger her you get your palm red for free
  4. Back out again today. Needed new discs so went for the mtec/mintex combo after hearing very good reviews so figured it was worth a shot as they are a bargain and if they let me down I'll just go black diamond. These were just too tempting at about half the price! I don't do track days (yet) so didn't really 'need' serious performance discs anyway. Test fit With caliper Finale (wheels and car are filthy, will sort that tomorrow! )
  5. Couple of pics when installing this kit today, obviously did rear aswel but no pics No pics of it lowered but plenty on here already. Very pleased with this kit, ride is firmer and inspires harder, more precise cornering. Can't fault it, Tein.. nuff said
  6. I think this is a pretty pointless thread on a zed enthusiasts forum lol, people hate on all sorts of cars for millions of different reasons? I hardly think it's a generalisation that most people hate the Zed!, from my experience most people love them!? People have an opinion. I think all French cars are cheap, inferior sh*te from experience, but again that's just my opinion. And as others have said here, what exactly are these people saying? Foolish nonsense Probably.
  7. 7 briggsybriggs face lift GT (don't tell the wife) 8. AndyZ33HR facelift GT
  8. what about the vq35hr engine? Ive been looking around today for clutch and flywheel combos incase i ever need one and am seriously worried by the prices and lack of kits available?? what are the options for hr owners at the minute? edit: forgot to mention it would only be an oem like for like replacement or maybe fast road.. but ideally just oem style considering the prices ive seen cheers
  9. Couldn't agree more! The more I do to it/plan to do to it, the more I love it. After the wheel spacers were fitted and I started to see even the most basic potential I knew I'd caught zeditis, symptoms included spending large sums of money the same night on springs, brakes, premium plugs, oil, etc etc
  10. Loving the look and choice of mods! The big wing I wouldn't be sure about but the rest.... MINT! Amazing you squeezed those wheels under those arches without catching , it looked an impossibility at first , had to look again 3 times
  11. For anyone who still has the stock bumper car aerial they should screw it off, walk away from the car and view it from the rear, instant amazement at the difference it makes. Why Nissan didn't make it hidden, or at least shorter
  12. I was going with the idea of removing the aerial, filling the hole and have the quarter professionally repainted which would have looked good but the car has never been painted before and thought it would be a sin! Instead I fitted this today, you might think it's too short but honestly I hate the aerial being there altogether on the zed, my evo was 97 and the aerial was invisible, the way it should be on all cars in my opinion.. p.s this one still receives perfect reception even in a poor area.. Next picture this week will be lowered on Tein's and/or drilled and grooved discs
  13. Cheers GM, slowly but surely the mods are coming
  14. Fitted bimecc 20/25 spacers this evening, next mod.. lowered!
  15. Had a full system on my evo and I have to be honest the sound was awesome and it was under 300 quid!! No real major issues with quality but it certainly did not just bolt on, lots of faffing around bending brackets and the down pipe brace literally had to be cut off.. was nowhere near the right spot. Only reason I picked it was because the evo being turbo I was only interested in the 3inch pipe from turbo back, fancy steel was not a concern. Good value for money but would not have one near my zed I went for cobra instead. If you are on a budget and don't mind a few swear words and head scratching/ time wasting I suppose a japspeed will do but if you DO have the money and you want a straightforward bolt on and no messing then go for a decent brand
  16. I need this spoiler! Wheres the best place to get it from?
  17. Welcome mate, also close to belfast myself, same colour as mine
  18. Forgot all about this thread until i got an email update!, thanks for the warm welcome guys. Just happen to have a few pictures taken at easter there. It will be getting a machine polish soon when i get the time. The paintwork is very very good and a credit to the previous owner but needs freshened up. Car is standard apart from a cobra non-resonated exhaust (not too loud, not too quiet, perfect) and a K&N high flow oil filter (so beware at the lights joking obviously). The DVD player i mentioned before is now installed as my Nexus 5 is too new for the factory bluetooth system and won't communicate. I also wired the steering wheel controls in very easily. Heres a few pics (please excuse the fly guts here and there, it was a spirited drive down as they say)...
  19. The cheap filter will cure all your problems. The cheapest is the twin rca plugs one which i cut the plugs off and soldered in-line to work. The 3.5mm jack version was over double the price at the time of purchase. Pay attention to the direction of audio flow if using the RCA plug version as my filter wasn't marked input and output. The input will be the male rca plug side and the other end with the female plugs are the output flow. So the female plug wires will be connected to your head unit and the male will be soldered to your ipod/aux in cable. It may work either direction but the results might not be the same.
  20. Hi folks got my car a month ago and loving it! Low mileage 08 model, when the weather is kinder and I get a free minute ill post a few pics up. Liking the fact my mpg is better than the evo I owned previously. As for plans for the car id maybe like it a bit lower, already done the ipod hack as the head unit was lacking a bit but didn't want to lose the blue tooth and install my old double din dvd player. Id also like a bit more noise out of it. Standard exhaust is subtle but a little too quiet. Other than that for now id like to just keep it clean through the winter and preferably in one piece!
  21. Just to confirm the cheapo in line ground loop isolator worked perfect between ipod cable and head unit. Virtually no noise at all now or at least nothing annoying/noticeable,very happy with result. In summary: Ipod y cable, hacked usb charger & a cheap ground loop isolator and jobs a good 'un. If you really want it versatile you could also solder in that 3.5mm plug at the start of the project so you can have optional aux as well.
  22. A few pics to show the modified usb charger so that it can be placed out of sight and connected directly to a 12v feed. If you are wondering why I have two wires it's because i was using high amperage cable, it was all i had at the time. Didnt want to risk using too thin wire and my Z go on fire or something. Also just a few pics of the job in question and testing. I also have to note that there is now some 'slight' barely noticable noise as a result of the charging feed but i hope to resolve this with a ground loop isolator added. I am just being fussy and want the crystal clear audio again. I will report back with my findings. Waiting on the isolator coming and then i'll solder it in and let you guys know.
  23. Yes i have noticed with in car audio systems Bluetooth audio is very hit and miss, some propriety systems the clarity is perfect but I have found cheap bluetooth audio accessories to be terrible. I am a believer that line-in directly connected audio feeds rather than streaming audio gives the best result. I had also considered bluetooth in this little project instead of wired but was concerned about the audio quality.
