Have you managed to get much further with this?
I am currently looking at doing something similar to a spare set of gauges. I am looking at using an Arduino due to is compact size along with a number of 4D systems LCDs. Thought you might be interested in the Workshop4 software package from 4D Systems .
No way!! We are both supercharging silver cars - and doing a gauge projects with an Arduino Due? I thought this was going to be my sensors project
I was going to have the Due provide A/D values mapped to sensor characteristics, then either output basic bar graphs on a TFT display or stay quiet unless out of 'normal' range values occurred. I'm not one for dash clutter..
I am looking at doing the communications directly with OBD-2 and using this data on a custom set of Nissan driver gauges, it is just something to fill my spare time, if all goes well I may install it into the car . I love to tinker with different hobbies from programming through to electronic circuit modifications

The compression rod is also known as the bannana arm, as it is in a banana shape.

If its a knocking sound like something is wobbling around I have the same noise and feeling, I've been informed it is my LHF Lower Control Arm, or as you call in on the forum 'banana arm'
Its the compression rod!

Check out a guy called Mr Patchbay on YouTube, this guy does some really crazy stuff with dash light LED's including dash lights that change colour with a remote from red to blue to green to white etc and I think he ships overseas (he's based in the US). Check him out this guy is a clever dude. He has an email address, I just don't have it on hand. All the work I've seen him do is on 350Z's (he runs one himself.)

Thanks for all the links,
I messaged him last night and they do provide pre-made clusters sets that you can plug & play.
I didn't want to take mine out and ship it out for him to modify so this sounds cool. Will see how much the costs will be and let you guys know. Dunno if I'll attempt to install myself, so probably see if I can get fitting done so I can watch and learn.
I plan to have something similar but try to avoid turning my Zed into a Christmas tree. One thing actually I was trying to look Into, white the white LEDs and shift changing light needle, is this totally legal or should I definitely be careful not making it too bright?
I read no blue lights or flashing that could distract drivers is allowed but is that more for the outside ?
And yep based in London, well Kingston.
If you was a little more local I could lend you a hand in doing the conversion.
Edit: I don't think that it is as straight forward as ordering from the states, as I believe that they are calibrated differently i.e. speedo 160 mph US and 180 mph UK. This could cause you a little problem, you'd have to have it recalibrated. Either go with ordering a replacement and having this done, or try tackling yourself. I have a guide available if you PM me your email (the guide is from a guy in the US, Eric).
You will need to order a new set of gauge faces from Black Cat Customs, they have UK spec available. You will also need a number of LEDs which are mentioned in the guide.

If your anything like me you could spend a whole day cleaning. Nice and clean though matey . Enjoy

Sounds normal to me, dash lights are 'always on'

I am currently in the process of doing this with my zed, I am just waiting to receive a set of new gauges from Black Cat Customs in the states.
If you check out my build thread you should see some parts on their.

If you need any advice I will be more than happy to help. Where are you based? (London)

I've order one of these OCCs. I will provide some updates once it arrives
-
Welcome along . You will love it, until you wave and/or flash at a fellow zed and they do not respond in the same way .
Looking forward to seeing your mods.

Has anybody had any experience with this OCC. I came across this when I was browsing the my350Z US-forum.

It seems to provide the needed functionality of an OCC, also the bracket fits to the PS reservoir mounting point.

My Hermes...
Don't you mean herpes? Terrible service.
Haha. I have used them only a couple of times, they seemed to be ok.

Unscrew the panel. There is a screw in the handle. Once you have this out give the panel a gentle pull upwards and it should come out.
Sorry I have just digested your post. It sounds that you have already got that far. If you use a thin flat-blade screwdriver on the clips around the switch units, it should come free nicely.
On the plug connector there is a press point, if you press this in and pull the plug, it should come free.

These look great

I thought I would provide a little update to things. I was a little bored this weekend, so I thought I would start to update the interior of the zed.I decide to tackle the lighting .
So I began with the driver and passenger controls.
The lighting for the door mirrors is annoying me now. I thought it was an LED type, so I need to source a replacement in Blue.....
I then decided I would do the AC Controls, although I complete the main lighting and didn't do the pointers as I thought it would be too much all in blue, so just waiting for some red LEDs then I will update.
I thought I would stop there for the weekend and wait for the new LEDs to arrive, but I left it nearly 3hrs and decided I would do a little more. The next step to take was to update all the switches, this was a pain in the **se. The LEDs in these are so so small it took me ages.
I firstly tackled the switches with roof open/close; ESP; and headlight washers.
I then tackled the heated seat switches on the centre console. This was a pain also. I thought I may be able to get at these pretty easily, but end up with the whole dashboard out (this was the first time, it wasn't so bad).
While I was in there I changed the position of the drivers side, as this has been doing my OCD in .
I understand this isn't an update to my Supercharging venture, but it is all work in progress . I am also waiting for a set of new gauges from the states to finish the gauge conversion.

Love IT!!!
Looking forward to seeing this progress.

Drinking your zed round a roundabout???
Use photobucket and just copy the URL.

They are a different type of fun. We still own a Clio RS and I can say I do enjoy driving it, but can't say I often have a difficult decision to make to see which car I would rather drive (the zed).
-
You can't get this much fun out of a FWD hot-hatch.
Literally two posts before yours you have someone talking about preconceptions and how wrong they can be. Drive a sorted Clio 182 Cup, a Megane RS and a GTI-6 and come back and tell me that.
The fact you can buy two of those cars for the price of a decent set of tyres for the Zed also says something
I have driven a GTI-6, Clio 172, 182 and 197 and all cracking cars, but I much prefer RWD cars. Personal preference.
-
The bottom line surely is the zed provides a reasonable performance, fair value for money, enough rarity to turn heads and IT'S FUN !!!
