Doubt it very much. I don't think most non car enthusiasts would have any idea what they are. Don't kid yourself, how many times do we hear the phrase "The GTR is better than *insert expensive prestige marque here* because it's so much faster everywhere!"? People are buying them because they have bragging rights, just as much as they are because they're a good car in their own right.They want one specifically because it's not a Porsche or a Ferrari or an Audi, which is as much to do with brand snobbery as it is buying an R8 over the fat Nissan. I would believe most owners buy the gtr because their budget wont stretch to "enter prestige marque here", sure I have seen some owners change from prestige marques to the gtr as it is faster but most buy because for that performance and budget its the best out there in terms of outright speed. I think your quite unique Ekona, I have no doubt you enjoy the Porsche for its driving experience, but I think your 80 20 split is way off the mark, in my opinion and experience of knowing owners of course. 79.5% probably want you to believe they have bought a Porsche as they are enthusiasts of its abilities, 19.5% are fat, balding middle aged men going through a mid life crisis hoping to attract a new younger replacement for their ageing wife by posing down the wine bar and have zero interest in its performance abilities. The Porsche is also out of most peoples reach which makes it something to aspire to All valid points But i have no aspiration to own a Porsche regardless of how good they are, they just dont float my boat. My desire stretches to more than a Nissan as well though, but given a lets say Porsche (whichever model) budget to work with, there are other cars i would much prefer to own! I probably wouldnt want a BMW either ( M car), unless my circumstances changed dramatically where i needed something more practical, seating etc I dont think anyone is saying owning a Nissan is their ultimate goal in life, but nor is owning a Porsche. One day i hope to have a Gallardo or maybe a 355 Spider, i wouldnt doubt for one minute you could say either of those are better than a high end 911, but thats what i would have given the choice

I started one of these members build threads when i first joined but the thread is gone it seems, not that i got any further than the before photo. Well after photos coming soon, will still be some minor things i want to do but the bulk will be done. Why best of both worlds, I am trying to sit somewhere firmly in the middle of being good on the track without too many ill effects on the road. Whilst i realise there are many more things i could do to improve the car on the track it is still a weekend and occasional evening car that i want to enjoy on the road. Hopefully i have found a happy balance with the parts i have chosen. I know this thread is worthless without pictures, but they wont be far away, new boots are landed and on route, quick refurb with a little bodywork tidying and i will be back
