Well it's been a while and the project took a turn the engine did go back in but then a rotrex equipped car became available so I bought it and returned it to standard and removed and sold the stillen kit I then fitted the rotrex kit to my car The end result looks much better and the kit is much nicer under the bonnet and with the built engine the car feels so much Keener it rips to the redline it's actually pretty frightening to drive now when you keep your foot in. At 14psi it made 540 and 585 at 18psi but couldn't push as fuel pressure was dropping out I've since discovered a split fuel hose so hopefully that's sorted now Anyway a couple of pictures

Engines back at the car 🎉 Dressed up and ready to go back in at the next opportunity

In a bid to tidy up the engine bay on the new build I thought I'd powered coat the pipework to match the stillen manifold

My head gasket let go at 14.5 psi but the internals looked perfect when we pulled it apart

I had a new impeller fitted and used vortech themselves in the states I took the opportunity to upgrade to the si impeller over the sci which netted a few more psi I definitely wouldn't trust anyone other than vortech to do the job and I don't think they will sell you parts This being said I did come across a UK guy the other day thats rebuilding a load of chargers and seems to do things correctly so might be worth a chat with him regarding the aftermarket impellers you talk of https://www.facebook.com/UKSuperchargerRepairs Good luck

Engine will be done end of march hopefully in and running end of April Just fitting it in around all of life's commitments 🙄

Bit of progress yesterday and a few quality hours in @350Butcher aka butchers performance shop/shed and the heads are on Just need to clean a few more bits this week and then hopefully get it closed up. Some close ups of the ARP 625s and the dynosty gaskets hopefully they will never need to be seen again 😁

Block was bored to take new JE pistons and we used the black ...I think they are grade 1 bearings on the crank

Long overdue update on this. life well and truly got in the way this year and I ended up buying a stop gap love or hate the looks what a car it is to drive and dose all the family duties realy well so think it might stick around for a while. Anyway you're not here for that! now life has settled down a my focus is back on getting the z ready to enjoy next year so here's some progress pictures I have also had a koyo rad matted to the stock ac condenser to keep things cool

So finally had chance to drop the engine off to the machine shop today with @350Butcher It's gone to https://ricwood.com/ for the work my buddy has him build all his race engines so he should be good enough for my old z😅 we also managed to find time for a good old breakfast to fuel us up The engine should be back in a couple of weeks and the build can start going in the right direction ready for summer 🌞

Decided against them to after a chat with the machine shop today

That's about it Dave just need to swap the water pump they sent pattern one instead of oe by mistake and then bearings once we get all measured up

The main box arrived today the heads are stripped so it's time for the machine shop these rods should take some bending 😊

In a bid to keep the z cool with the new motor I thought a nice rad upgrade wouldn't go a miss. I had previously ordered a mishimoto rad as it keeps the AC but the quality didn't look the best so I opted for koyo and will have the stock AC condenser mated to the koyo The welds on the koyo are much tidier than the mishimoto for a start so that a good sign some care was taken in the making of it There will be a little trimming involved here and there but at this stage we are far from stock configuration so it's all about what works from here on in Heres some koyo porn

Bit more work done this weekend and we're almost ready for the machine shop I was hoping in a way to see a obvious failure but nothing was really apparent apart from little inconsistencies on the gasket as if the coolant and washed it a bit but that's clawing at straws. Hopefully It was just a case of what the yanks call head lift due to the massive cylinder pressures experienced when adding boost to a high compression motor. Once the parts are cleaned up a bit and the heads are stripped down it will go off for machine work and I'll have the block checked for any cracks etc but on visual inspection it all in realy good order. But as for the rest of the engine it's all in realy nice condition which is testament to a good calibration from Litchfield and excessive oil changes and maintenance. so if you're thinking of boosting and if it ruins your engine the answer is no just don't ad to much boost 😂 So enough waffle here's some pictures
