  1. So after nearly 11 weeks of waiting.. wheels are here new front tyres should arrive early next week..
  2. Just so you dont put the wider rear wheels on the front by accident
  3. love the way it ties in with the tinted rear window too..
  4. Sounds good, though I still won't have my new wheels by then looking forward to this though, food and photos..?
  5. Could be a bluewater meet in march?
  6. Cheers guys! Really hope it's the end of it now. Only concern is it doesn't do it again as we don't know what caused it. Everything else looks fine though... Hopefully the weather is nice enough to go for a drive Saturday! Then I think I'll pull the trigger on some new wheels Hurry up then man! Been following your build, really looking forward to seeing it complete! Definatley mate!
  7. So it's back! 4 and half months since the intitial breakdown so safe to say I'm pleased it's finally back and working. Went to pick it up from sly on the Friday. New part fitted, new gearbox fitted and MOT. Stopped off at bluewater on the way home to let the traffic calm down a bit.. And finally home. First time the zed had been to my new house, whilst it was away I set about giving the garage a lick of paint ready for its arrival, hoping I'll squeeze it in ok. Thankfully I did When out Saturday for a little drive, this time trying to have a bit more confidence in it, and all seems well. Having not driven properly for ages it felt like a rocket ship! Haha only little niggle now is I still have a little rattle up front somewhere. Hopefully I can enjoy it now
  8. So another update.. Gearbox in and tested, gearbox seems good, but original problem STILL there! Spent some time researching in to what can be left as possible causes.. Found an interesting post explaining how that below 3500 the vvel is at minimum lift, and its after that that it starts stepping up. For this to work there needs to be good oil pressure (about 100psi). Sly did pressure test it, but I wondered if this was at idle or through the rev range, where the pressure would increase, and any seals or gaskets leaks may become more apparent. Also producing the original error code of low oil pressure where a leak is not holding the pressure. So seals or gaskets being 1 option, crank position seemed to be coming up as an option. The crank PS needs to be in perfect sync with the cam position sensors, faulty sensors have produced similar symptoms for others and no error codes, though the guy that had this had a much more intermittent issue than me. Mine is every time without fail after about 20-30 mins of driving (once the oil has warmed and changed viscosity maybe?) Spoke to Sly about my findings and he said all seals and gaskets are fine, as they were checked and replaced when we did the timing chain chasing this problem the first time round. This put my mind at ease that at the time the infamous oil gallery gaskets were changed for the upgraded ones. We left it that I will start sourcing some sensors. A while ago Adrian sent me this pic, a pic he got from Litchfield. This particular example of a dodgey is on a GTR with 30k miles, producing the same issue. I showed a mate this picture again, the same mate that helped me change the VTC solenoids over ages ago, said he was pretty sure mine was like that. So I gave sly a call saying hes pretty sure my seal was split. Sly said he'll check but they are split seals anyway, similar to that of a seal on a piston so it may be that, but hell check anyway. Anyway next day Sly calls saying hes found the problem, when they took the vtc cover offer to check the seals they found wear on the shaft bit itself.. not sure how or why. But definitely looking like it to be the cause, everything else seems ok. How it should be And mine As you can see there is a fair bit of wear, Sly said they missed it before as it looks machined, its only when they see another example of how its supposed to be that it was obvious. So I set about sourcing another cover as I didn't fancy nissan prices of £1200 Thankfully found one in the states for a very good price, so that's on the way, probably not arriving untill the end of the month however. Fingers crossed once this is fitted that will be the end of my problems, just want to get in the car again and enjoy it!
  9. I'm from chelmsford in a 370 and my mate is also in chelmsford now in my old 350. We are out chelmsford/braintree basically every saturday (though my car is out of action atm) We should defiantly do something in the new year! Have always enjoyed Z meets in the past!
  10. So update on the whole still not working saga. So end of October, got the Z back to Slys. Didnt trust the car atall, and knew it would be just my luck that I'd break down on the dartford bridge, so got it transported there instead.. Made for a cool picture on the Kaizer facebook page. After a few weeks of having it and testing it, Sly couldnt replicate the low oil pressure error, however, the car did keep going into limp mode, sometimes bounce at 3k (maybe what was happening with me on my recent test drives?) and sometimes even falling out of gear. I knew my gearbox hasnt been 100% as I tend to get slip between 4-5 in manual mode, if i come to a stop its like it goes into neutral, then lurches me forward as I try to set of again, and I have even had it get stuck into what I suspect to be 3rd before untill I reset the car. Anyway this time for Sly, it threw 2 error codes on the gearbox, 1 of which basically listing every solenoid under the sun and the other being a G sensor. We agreed it would be cheapest and easiest for me 2 source a used box. Luckily last Friday I managed to find one from a damaged 2010 roadster, with only 2400 miles on it for a good price, that arrived today, so fingers crossed!!
  11. Massively! Proper Jdm style would be at least driving right! Lol £2.5k later and nearly 8 weeks without being able to properly drive it isn't good! Will give sly a call tomorow, think it's going to have to go back!
  12. So update, though nothing exciting... managed to swap out the other solenoid on saturday. Only just got out in it properly for a road test, half hour into it... doing it again. :surrender: A previous conversation with Sly, I had learnt that this is everything changed related to the code now. Short of the replacement solenoids not operating properly either..
  13. On my old 350, I had nismo v2 also, with tarmac side spliiters. I had my side steps colour coded, but the lip on the v2 gloss black. Nearly changed a few times but always kept it black in the end. My mate, the new owner had the lip colour coded when getting the bumper re done, and to be honest it looks a lot better than I thought. I would may even go as far as saying I prefer it. Below is a pic of my old car (top) but with my mates ownership, so grey lip. And below that is a pic of another mates car, with a black lip.
  14. Ok might give this a try. Thanks a lot.
  15. Thanks a lot mate. Yeah I'm so gutted I couldn't make it! And I wouldn't know to be honest, I wouldn't say mine is under load, more low speed deaccelerating. And havnt actually linked any problems to it yet anyway, just keep an eye on it I guess. Hopefully it's just normal! Thanks mate, and if you do you shouldn't be disappointed with the seats! Thanks a lot Man, that's nice to hear that it shows change the wheels at id be at the point where I want it to be visually
  16. ok mate cheers. Would I need to worry about air getting in the system after removing the coolant hose? Swaying toward removing the cover because of this? Cheers
  17. cheers for the reply Alex, I take it that would leak out some oil? Whats in the hose?
  18. Trying to swap out my VTC solenoids on my 370. Moved the expansion tank out of the way, access to both is fine and done the left one no problems. However the right one, as I pull it out it hits a pipe below, so i cant quite get it out. Looking for advice how to do so? Should I be able to, but just being stupid? Would removing the pipe be a ball ache? Fluids everywhere, air in the system etc? Can I remove the cover that the solenoid actually bolts to? Cheers
  19. So driving up to Trax in the morning, it happened again!! Met some mates for the drive up at a petrol station round the corner, obviously a gentle drive there, and from there onto the A12, only once we just got on there was it up to temperature, in which we cruised at a steady speed for around 10 miles or so. Came up to a lorry, in which I slowed down as other cars past, and then put m foot down slightly to pass. This was the first time that day the car would of gone over 3k RPM and straight away giving me the familiar symptoms. Pulled over, and set off again gently, only to pull into another petrol station again, here we decided best to turn back home before getting on the M25. A few stops later the CEL came on again, and a very cautious drive home got us back home. Plugged in the code reader, same code. P0524 Low oil pressure. Took a look at the solenoids and found the LH one to be leaking oil. Given the fact that before when we realized the problem was still there, we took the replacements back out, the solenoids in there now are the only old components related to the error. Pretty confident this was the problem a call to sly to confirm, A friend and I tried swapping them back out. Both perfectly accessible after moving the expansion tank to one side. Replaced the leaking one, no problem. However there is a pipe in the way on the bottom, RH one, stopping you from pulling it out just enough. Settling for the LH being changed as that was the leaky one anyway, went for another spin, again only 20 mins or so but got a few good pulls in. Problem seemed to of gone away, but drawing from previous experience I couldn't relax, so intended to go out for more, longer drives to be sure. Side note, even my mate picked up on the whineyness. Like me, thought it to be more whiney than usual. Concluded I need to go for more drives and go from there. So didn't manage to get out until Saturday just. Nice to be back in the car, especially in the seats! Went for a little drive, all seemed good. pulled well through the revs and was genuinely starting to enjoy the car again, 20 minutes or so, I came to a stop at the roundabout. As I stopped, im not sure how I came to this, but something didn't seem quit right. And sure enough as I pulled away it did it again! As I was half expecting it, it was light throttle so wasnt anything major, but enough for me to see it was back. Drove it home again and spoke to Sly again, as really need to change out that other solenoid. I would rather not drive the Hour plus drive there in the state it is in if I can help it, nursing it back home felt bad enough! Any advice as to how I can go about it? Is removing the pipe going to be the ball ache I suspect?
  20. OK so time for an update.. Picked the car up from Sly the Friday just before TRAX (23rd) all was running ok, he had it running on the ramp for a few hours and took it for a road test up to redline etc, Stopped off at bluewater on the way home to grab something to eat and let the que for the bridge settle down a bit. Had been a very gentle drive up untill now but all seemed well, though at low speeds when entering the car park it seemed whinier than usual, though was probably overly paranoid at this point. So stopped off and obviously couldn't resist a picture When we got back to the cars, I moved out of the space to check for leaks etc, and saw a tiny 'wet' patch, concluded ill keep an eye on it and went home. The next day we did some seat fitting. As nice as they have looked laying about in different rooms of the house for the last year or so, it was nice to finally get them in. With the Planted frames and recaro rails it was pretty straightforward. Out with the old (and time for a hoover obviously) Had to pull the old passenger seat base to get the old passenger weight sensor (to be taped underneath the new seat) And all in! No lights on the dash or anything! I love them, and they look at home in the Z! So out for a quick blast to test the seats and get some confidence in the car ready for the drive up to trax in the morning. Was brief with about only 10-15 minutes worth of driving once up to temperature, but a good few pulls in there throughout the rev range. All seemed ok. (more to follow)
