  1. Enjoy it and welcome! Wheels before the Zed was a Golf TDI - Zed blew my mind
  2. I'll give this all whirl tomorrow. Should the wipers be on also? You know there are whole playlists on youtube dedicated to headlight washers? I'm not alone!
  3. Is it weird I'm this excited by headlight washers?
  4. Interesting - is there any way to know if the button is in the off or on position? As far as I can tell it doesn't seem to "toggle" or illuminate anything as most of the other buttons in the HRs do.
  5. Do you hold or just tap the button? Cant wait to try this...
  6. OK so I know my Zed has headlight washers: Has a button, the little plastic covers on the bumper...but... Has anyone ever seen them working, or footage of them working? I've followed the instructions, (wipers on, lights on, press button) But I've never seen any over-spray bounce off the lights. I have however seen the "tears" that stream up the bonnet/front wings when driving in the wet - might just be rain patterns. Who can prove they work!? (Pictures/video or it didn't happen)
  7. Oh also experience of driving the car can factor in... I've owned/driven it for less than a year, thus I'm more likely to bin it, apparently.
  8. Turned 26 in September, 6 years no claims, no points or convictions. Car parked in secured garage in posh part of Cardiff. Homeowner, driven all over the world (USA, Cambodia, Malaysia, Cyprus etc...) Elephant wanted £1200 at renewal so I went searching. AXA came in at £835. Told elephant and they matched it, no questions. The game seems silly to me. Tomorrow I'm calling up some of the dudes the forum recommends, I really want the costs down to around £600 I don't think having a 57 313 coupe in black helps (I've heard colour can often factor into insurance quotes) Good luck!
  9. You're going to love it buddy. I test drove mine on a whim then bought it less than a week later. Addictive! On the Clutch issues, if you still think its dodgy get the fluid emptied and changed and see if that gives you a better experience, not a big job, £40 all in from my local Nissan Dealer. As with all cars you also have to adjust your driving style to the car. I dare say that if its your first step into RWD sports cars you'll have a fun learning curve ahead and some things will irritate you (handbrake always gets used as a sodding arm rest by the passenger which can make for a fun game of grabbing their arm at hill starts) and others you'll love (2nd gear roll-on in a tunnel, the length and power of 3rd) Enjoy her!
  10. Does this same schedule apply to the VQ35HR engines too? I'm due the 64k service according to that schedule, but I get my oil done every 3k miles anyway as an old habit. Also, looking at going to Wessex Garages in Cardiff: any good reviews? Thanks!
  11. Wish it would stop raining for five minutes so I could clean the car!

  12. I was having this issue too, its definitely heat/air in system related. Had the stealers change and bleed clutch fluid (£29.99 all in!) the kid who works on it (I ask for him by name) does all the GT-Rs and Zeds in Cardiff. Problem now seems to be resolved. Good solid return to "up position". I did notices that the little pot in the engine bay was all manky so perhaps its not been changed in a while - doesnt appear to be a standard service item either. It was worrying when I had to flick it back up manually with my foot. But now she seems fine. FYI I've never had any noticeable clutch slip (6th on motorway no clutch slip related lag, firm engagement from standing), and it's an HR engine on 61K miles. Also seems to engage all gears better now, too.
  13. I believe the warranty only covers you if its rust from the inside, out. I've found a bubble on my roof yesterday while cleaning - I'll be checking with Nissan soon, but I have a feeling if they pull the roof interious out the car and find its actually from outside in they'll lumber me with 14hrs of labour or something silly. Is there any way of telling if its inside out, rather than outside in?
  14. Another Cardiff! Welcome to the Forum! Post some pics!
  15. Any ideas on how serious this might be... Going from 2nd to 3rd (uphill about 50mph). Re-engaged clutch and then the engine instantly bounced up to rev limiter with no further traction, (ESP was switched on, mind) and then a strong smell of burning, double de-clutched, and then it seemed to *pop* into gear. My petrol headed friend said not to worry as the clutch has just gotten hot and "glazed" and that it would be fine "later". Bit vague... I'm new to this high power clutch engagement malarky - last car was a diesel Golf - but it does seem that the clutch is quite good, I keep stalling it at the lights (n00b) but it has done 55k and I keep reading that that's quite good going but also high for a Zed. First time I've had this problem...and just to put it in perspective I've done about 3K in a month (new car, itchy feet, new toy syndrome etc..) Thoughts?
  16. Could always be worse - you could be the guy who crashed his Veyron... Then you've had the world's media on your bum and people like us goding you, too! http://www.facebook.com/AllanLambosGarage always cheers me up... but as U83R5Z said - you make you're own destiny. My advice - don't let *it* happen - be the first mover. Drive safe!
  17. Just got mine, 57 plate, 309/313 (depending on what you read) for £9k You've got a realistic price bracket - I got mine at an absolute steal from a main dealer - don't know how that happened. Good luck and
  18. Just so we're clear...I ain't no Frenchy. Oui? Thanks for the welcome notes, and the comments. Found the car completely by chance at a main dealer (I was driving home from ASDA, and waiting from my friend to arrive for a visit) drove past and spied the rear of the Zed out the corner of my eye. Pulled in, eyed her up, thought "f*** it! lets have a drive" and three weeks later she's in my parking spot...didn't even check under the bonnet... Got her cheap too - shes a 309bhp, on a 57 plate. Pretty sure the clutch will need doing soon as its on 55K - back box dropped from flange after I got back from Elan Valley - almost didn't want to get her fixed, BEAUTIFUL noise, but it made the "boot" a massive resonator so I had that fixed on warranty (phew). But really happy with her and the dealer, its going in for a BCM recall tomorrow - whats that about? Loving the forums - thanks for the warm welcome - I'll have more pictures as the months roll by!
  19. "Day-um" that's a deep shine! Nice job!
  20. Its good to see the forum promoting safe driving. One that's always good to learn is to not look at the inside of a bend, always look at the curb or white line, or whatever marks the outside edge - this stops you from tightening up on the inside of the bend (as you may use this as a target and drive toward it) and potentially cross into the other line of oncoming traffic. I'm lucky enough to live within shot of some of the most picturesque roads in the country Evo triangle/elan valley/Black Mountain pass, etc., Its easy to see why these roads are stunning, but also dangerous and to not be taken lightly. Looking as far down the road, across the hills etc IS a life saver and can help you prepare for potential obstacles (sheep, down trees, sitting water, Citroen Saxos racing...) Being prepared, being aware, being sensible and being patient; all play a part in enjoying a sports car such as a Zed, but also staying safe. I'm very happy to see we're all on the same page!
  21. Hey Guys and Gals, Bought my 350Z about two weeks ago, and I'm pretty sure I'll never want to buy anything ever again with less than 300bhp! Immense car compared to the old Golf TDi!...Do I miss the fuel economy - yes. But did I have as much fun as I do in the Zed? NO WAY! Totally in love with my Fairlady (bet you don't hear that too often) - thought I'd better join up to some sort of forums in a pre-cursor to the sure to follow panics over clutches, brakes, tyres and detailing! Looking forward to sharing experiences and solving problems with you all...following this five post thing! Here she is on the Black Mountain Pass and Elan Vally.
