  1. Adrian Flux via Equity Red Star (part of Lloyds): £730 500 Excess with reasonably priced addable extras. I guess now I'm just asking if anyone has any experiences with claims, renewals or anything else with Greenlight, Brentacre or Adrian Flux? £60 between them - might be best to pay more for the better service than going for the lowest initial cost (although I do hear good things about Adrian Flux...) Thoughts?
  2. ok... Brentacre: £789.99 with Highway Insurance (Part of LV) Greenlight: £748.48 with Zenith (additional track day cover ranging from £100-£1000 track dependant) Excess of £500 on both, fully comp. (includes 3rd party of or other cars, courtesy car, audio, windscreen etc..) Tempted to go with Zenith - anyone had any experience with them or Greenlight? On the phone to Adrian Flux now...
  3. Prestige tired hard, £995 Chris knott couldn't quote (as I'm under 30) Going to try Greenlight and Brentacre (As recommended by Prestige)
  4. Zurich ask if you're a university graduate if you go direct. As for working in the industry it was an internship in 2007. I've been very busy in my life, just can't sit still! I do think that inexperience with the car might be the factor in this one. Car isnt modified and I live in a building with a secure locked car park... All very odd. I'll let you know results.
  5. See I've done the gocompareconfuseed.com broad search, went direct got a refused a quote when I went direct, hence the forum post...I'm not that lazy! Thanks for the advice all, i'll get on the blower!
  6. I used to work at an insurance brokers in 2007. They used to "Refuse to Quote" on insurance costs if the client had been elsewhere. Has this now entered the car industry? i.e. If I search on Gocompare or Confused, do companies just refuse to quote if you then go direct? My renewal is due on the 28th December and I'm keen to beat my current renewal quote from Elephant of £800. Any brokers here want to see if they can get a 26 year-old home owner, Graduate (x2 Masters degrees), 6 years no-claims (named driver on policies since 17 years of age) Born and raised in UK. Full-Time Employed at a University as a Project Manager, and Part-time property business owner. Owned and driven cars in USA, Cambodia, Malaysia and some of Europe. No points or convictions (ever) also passed Pass Plus in 2005. Access to a 1947 MG TC 1250cc as a named driver. Postcode and personal details on request. PM me with contact details, numbers offer codes etc. Thanks, J
  7. Are you guys open for a quote this weekend? My renewal is the 28th Dec.
  8. I bought the first one I test drove. If you can get a 57 plate onward car they have the 313 engines and a rev limit to make the gods @*!# themselves, and a noise thats thrilling too. You won't regret it, it's a car that rewards for both smooth driving and hooning, and is an excellent mile muncher. It's presently sitting in the driveway in the rain and even now I'm in disbelief that I own such an awesome car. I've given myself goosebumps just looking at it. Go for it.
  9. Fantastic news! Nothing worse than being in that grey area of repairs/claim/await court etc. really awesome news for you
  10. Windscreen washers are fine, perfecto. Just headlight washers, driving me mental, not working.
  11. Ok it's totally not working. Tanks brimmed buttons been pressed with lights on...etc Is there a fuse for the system? Des anyone know where it is?
  12. I prefer to believe that there's a pad stealer...
  13. Exactly it's certainly not know as the 'gently push down with the palm of your hand until the catch engages panel' "Rules" were made to be broken!
  14. Its all about the press-to-close. But then again I'm "well strong" so if I'd slam the bonnet down I'd put the car through to Australia...
  15. I bought mine then only realised after driving all the way up from Newcastle one of my cup holder pads was missing ... how gutted is my passengers next tasty beveridge going to be! One of mine is missing, too, which also happens to be the passenger side... maybe the passenger side doesn't have one...or there's a passenger-side-faux-leather-cupholder-padding-stealer about!
  16. Was he driving a reliant robin? Difficult to crack 60 though mind.
  17. No wonder it took me more than FIVE goes with a big empty plastic coke bottle to put water in!! And I still didn't know when it was full, there doesn't seem to be a way of telling? Last car I could look down the tube but its all tight in there and...black plastic...(awesome.. lol) I too have had the washer blues...Lesson...do not overfill with antifreeze washer stuff....it covers your car with foam and you end up having to pour water all over the bonnet straight away to make sure it doesn't mark lol I like them.. I just wish there was an OFF switch lol I hear pump when pushing and pulling stalk - but does that pump feed both headlights and screen? Ok so...to re cap - I've not driven her since Sunday afternoon and I brimmed the washer bottle on Monday. Today I was able to pour the best part of 3L into the bottle. Drove around a little it help eject any bubbles, emptied in the best part of another 0.5L or about a pint. Clearly the system is taking a while to clear the air in the fed headlight washer bottles so I'm guessing what's happened is I've been driving with the headlight washers empty or not full enough to fire the headlights, but full enough to do the windscreen. Does anyone know the full capacity of the washer bottle(s)? FYI didn't use washers today as I wanted to see how much air might be in the system. Going to top her up again tomorrow/Friday and see if I can fit any more in before I leave. If its dry weather (awesome) I'll stop off at Reading services as usual and check to see if I can fit any more in. If she stays brimmed I'll know shes full, thus if I activate washer and nothing happens its probably electrical.... the mystery continues...
  18. Doing this tomorrow - Might have to buy some extra screen wash
  19. You know, Crail nr. St Andrews. Old air base now used as a drag strip, fun zone for cars etc...
  20. I always lower it on to the catch then push firmly, not with finger tips but with reversed palms on the edge of the bonnet lip, thus spreading weight and not getting finger prints on the bonnet. I honestly don't think that slamming things does anything any good, you wouldn't slam a cupboard door or a glass would you? Plus I wouldn't want to risk damaging a headlight, seal or bonnet because I slammed a bonnet closed. Just my 2p
  21. Right...they definitely DON'T work for me... Did the following steps: Filled the washer tank up to the brim, no bubbles, measure tube was full also. Turned on car Turned on dipped headlights pressed button (nothing) pulled stalk (2 seconds) (nothing) Turned lights off Turned engine off, then back on Turned lights on pressed and held button (nothing) (not even a noise for a pump) Turned the car off and had a think... Gently pulled out washers, bone dry, pulled off debris of daddy long legs and friends (so they obviously popped out at somepoint!) See above and repeat, no effect, no spray, sad face. Any ideas? Could the pump/motor be dead, could I still be doing something wrong?
  22. Looks like I've sparked a decent debate here. I saw on another thread (How to change your side markers without bumper removal) that the headlight washers have a separate washer bottles - are these fed by the main washer bottle - thus why we need a full compliment of windscreen cleaner. FYI I'm in a MY07 '57 or 313 model (non GT-spec) - any chance I don't even have the washers!?
