  1. I did something rash last night and joined a choir, despite having one rather obvious handicap i.e. not being able to sing I have always wanted to be a part of a musical performance but I can't play any instrument so singing seemed like the best choice. I can't read music though and felt a bit out of my depth at the first rehearsal, only scraping by because I already knew the songs, well Christmas carols. I have rung a singing teacher and am waiting for a call back so am really hoping that she will be able to help me get over my nerves and teach me how to sing properly but maybe I am deluding myself since I have no natural talent? Any encouraging stories or should I just give up before making a total fool of myself?
  2. Mm, I could buy shoes instead with the money I've now 'saved' by not buying the gear knob I think that's how it works anyway?
  3. Thank you both. I like 'kick plate' best so I'll use that if it ever comes up in conversation, ha ha GMballistic, showing off? Moi? I think not Mind you I just went out to my 'posh club' and I was annoyed that no-one could see my lovely boy because it was too dark
  4. Just took a little shot of Stan's illuminated door bit and wondered what it is called? Please can someone tell me? Thank you ]
  5. If I'd known it was definitely Craig I'd have gone over and said 'hello' I'd also have given him the address of a good leg waxing lady
  6. Ha ha, Stanley tried his heart out there
  7. Hmm, I suspect you know a little bit more about 'drag' than I do That said however, I did see a spectacularly bad transvestite this weekend. What real woman would wear a see-through blouse and bright orange bra to visit a National Trust garden? Also, if you are going to wear a skirt that's split to the thigh, you really should shave your legs
  8. Thanks everyone I'm getting used to being called 'mate' now and think it's growing on me Maybe I should get rid of the moustache and beard combo though? Off for a drive now because the courier has finally turned up so I am free to leave Two Bears Towers - yay
  9. Thanks Zeezeebaba I am definitely enjoying driving Stan. Very, very different car to Mr Z of course but Stanley likes fun too and I would love to get him out on a track p.s. I don't mind being called 'mate' but I am an old lady so maybe not the best thing to call me?
  10. Chanel No. 5? Perhaps a more masculine fragrance for Stanley. Boss bottled or chip fat and cigar smoke? Yuck I'll have you know that Stanley is a refined kind of chap and perfectly in tune with his feminine side
  11. Thanks GIXXERUK, it does handle well, although I scared Mr Two Bears yesterday, apparently, when I really put that to the test Nah, no Magic Trees for Stanley. Maybe a light spritz of Chanel No 5?
  12. Your threads always amaze me. I haven't got a clue what any of the parts are and I don't understand any of the things you say about them but it all looks incredibly difficult and impressive
  13. Thanks Ken Graham that's easy - STanley
  14. Thanks As always, I chose my car because I fell in love with the colour I have driven him a lot this weekend and had loads of what I assume are admiring glances but mainly from rather young men much to Mr Two Bears amusement. They must get a shock when they see Miss Marple sitting behind the wheel at Hugh
  15. Yesterday was a very sad day for me as I had to leave my beloved Mr Zed at the garage with a little crowd of interested chaps peering at him But I am pleased to present my new baby, Stanley He is a much more practical choice for me now I am living in rented accommodation with limited parking space and neighbours who could probably run into another car in an empty car park Stanley
  16. You get your mangle out regularly? In public? I think that should remain between you and your therapist!
  17. There's always one I still black lead my grate
  18. Thanks Buster and Keyser If you know any really nice villages that you think I should look at, please let me know as it is difficult to get a complete feel for an area when you don't visit often. I like Milton Abbas but the houses are very small and I want something with a bit of land for the horse.
  19. 'Making progress'? What's that then? Love from Miss Marple
  20. Thanks ace I am going to look in exactly those areas!!
  21. Thank you everyone for confirming that there is about as much use for double de-clutching in today's world as there is for black leading grates!! I can now confidently call someone a silly old f*** or similar. Alex, I think heel and toe was the thing I was supposed to be learning next if I had kept up with the track sessions but that has all come to an end now, sadly
