Have you tried a direct enquiry via DVLA? You can enquire about a plates availability on their website. If it's available and you express interest, they'll put it in a future auction for you.

Regarding cost, I'll literally just be paying for the kit (circa £35), the guy (a friend) that'll be doing the wrap will apply it as part of the process - he's not charging me extra to apply the coating. Can't really decline or grumble with that!

This issue seems to be catching! Both Spatt and myself have had exactly the same issue at the same time this past week. Both turned out to be a dodgy coil pack. Matt (Spatt) just replaced all 6 with 6 known good ones from ZMANALEX whereas I followed the suggestion above. Let the car get upto working temperature and start to miss fire/lumpy idle. Unplug (from the connector) each coil pack one by one. If you unplug a 'good' one, the revs will drop noticeably. When you unplug the 'bad' coil pack, there will be no change. It's a bit of a PITA to do, as it's just fiddly. But a little patience and it's an easy DIY job with basic spanner skills. Just remember to plug your MAF back in once done, eh Spatt.......?

Yes. It's essentially a rubberised paint that can be removed. First couple of coats will be a partial covering, but build up the coats like you would paint. Several light coats are better than a few heavy ones. Plenty of vids on YouTube for help

It's not a show and shine event Harry. Given the state of the roads following the amount of rain we have, I doubt anyone's car will be spotlessly clean by the time we all get there. Maybe when we leave, yes, but not when we get there We're all coming along to learn something

It's something I was offered as a service as part of a (gloss) wrap. Never heard of it (or the process) before. I'd be keen to hear of the better alternatives please mate.

As title, I'm after the kick plate/sill protector (black plastic thing with the Z badge on you see when you open the door). Really not bothered about condition, or broken clips etc as I really just want the 'Z' badge for an idea I've had. Seen them on eBay for £15-£20, but trying to find one cheaper cos I'm tight.

I'd say it may have been recoloured. Everything you've listed above (gaiters, armrests and seats) is now BMW Alaska Grey in my car. I don't even think cars that came with the frost leather got colour matched arm rests etc.

My vote goes to Plastidip. I did mine as a temporary fix after I demolished my front lip. Very easy to get a good finish, rubberised finish is ideal for the lip that's prone to stone chips, you can peel it off if you change your mind and a whole can (more than enough) is just over a tenner. What's not to like?

I'm going from memory now (which, has let me down before), but I think you've got the gaiter fitted incorrectly. It should pass underneath the ring(s) you're trying to attach the silver ring to, not over the top. EDIT: There are tabs on the gaiter that are spaced in different locations. By the looks of the stitching on yours, you don't have these in the right place anyway FURTHER EDIT: (Memory is coming back to me). There are two plastic rings that the gaiter sits in that are held together with plastic tabs and these are screwed to the underside of the centre console. Unscrew the two rings (still fixed together) prise them apart (making note of the tabs). You should then see the different location tabs for the gaiter. Pass the gaiter the other side of the rings than you have, locating the pins where they 'should' be (I imagine the stitching will be facing forward and backwards). It's basically a reversal of everything you should of done to remove the original gaiter!
