So the zed failed its mot this week on a snapped front suspension spring, the problem is neither me or the garage know what the spring is to get a replacement (will be doing both fronts anyway). Bought the zed years ago, still running on the same lowered springs when I bought it and it is very low. The only information I have is I'm pretty sure they were apex springs and the part number for the shock absorber is 56110 cd700. I really hope someone can help, if nothing else I just need to know what the actual drop is on the spring, I'm sure its 30mm but dont want to just guess. Thanks in advance everyone

Will use the second set as winters aswell, dont wanna let the nicely refubed alloys suffer in the salty grit- mistake i made last year!

I'm after a set of wheels with legal tyres to use as surrogates while mine are in for refurb, just thought it would be worth asking you guys first before buying off eBay. I'm not bothered what they are as long as they are legal! Locally as possible to Lancaster would be a bonus, thanks in advance!

Genuinely gutted to have missed you all at the Lakez meet this year, started a new job recently and couldnt get the weekend off, massive sadface. Had a look through the pics, a fantastic turnout again and some really amazing looking cars! Could anyone tell me the kit on the orange Z- K90 HAW? I want to give someone all my money for that kit right now!!! Anyway, next years event is getting booked off work 12 months in advance, no way am I missing another one!

sorry to hear Martin you had similar issue after lakeZ meet, seems to be a real problem with car vandalism around there- I had my dent done parked outside the pig in cartmel just over a year ago- rear passenger side when i was parked kerb to the passenger side- work that out?! still makes me angry

Just had some work done by a company in morecambe, took out a huge dent in rear end panel and respray cost 150 quid- real bargain, immacculate work. Got a quote to take out some door dings and touch up some panels and the guy said minor work (including keying) would only be 70 quid per panel. Not sure where your based at but for 3 panels @ 70 quid a panel, it would be cheaper than to claim...good ballpark figure though

Would have to agree that slightly over priced but if history is there than it's a good deal imo- especially for the mileage if that checks out, sometimes hard to be sure though with imports. And can someone clarify this- auto levelling? (I have an imp and pretty sure my lights dont "auto" level) also, washers?? dont see any there.....

Just a quick question re:headlight tints. Do they decrease the visability of the headlights at night and if so by how much- is there a way to compensate this if so? Also, is it legal to tints the headlights?

I'm sure he wont mind me saying this but you should get in touch with martinmac, a little bird told me his roadster may be on the market soon as he maybe upgrading..... *cough* *gtr* *cough* And his roadster is the sweetest one I have seen check out the pics from the lakez meet last weekend there are a few in there.

I almost put a post up last week asking the same question as I'm having my alloys done soon aswell, was gonna go shadow chrome on the centers with polished lip but after seeing those orange ones!!!!!! Might have a re-think, wonder if they will still look as good in orange on multi-spoke 20"??

Looks like a great job!! Would you mind me asking what the total charge was for the refurb and was there any serious rebuiling involved? Reason I ask is that mine are in serious need of some tlc and will need sandblasting/rebuiling before spraying. I'm from Lancaster so chorley isnt far from me, and only 1 place near to me will undertake the work as my alloys are multi-spoke and apparently a bitch to refurb!

Just picked the Zed back up from the garage after what turned out to be quite a bit of work needing doing, and shes running like a dream again :-D Huge thanks to Keyser for sorting the exhaust (which is gonna take some getting used to as its pretty much silent!) and also the rear calipers, and thanks also due to Mitz for sorting disks/pads what a difference they have made! Also managed to grab a bargain 2 front tyres (vredestein ultrac sessanta) with 5mm left on them for 90quid delivered thanks to ebay :-) Altoghther a very happy day! Looking forward to taking it for a proper run :-D

The answer to this is simple, answer yourselves honestly this question and all will become clear....... If you won 100k and spent that on a GT3 / GT-R / Ferrari / Aston whatever I'm sure that we would all thoroughly love said car for approx 1 month, however the thing inside us that makes us who we are as enthusiasts would start thinking, researching and low and behold sooner or later start reading/looking at ways in which to mod said car. Someone will always have a modded supercar and the option will always be there so we covet this, embrace it and dont (really) mind what the costs are. It is ours to make unique and personal to us whether it be for bragging rights or just the love of individuality. The cost is irrelevant at this point, you own a 10k Zed you dont care throwing a few grand at it as it gives you the joy and satisfaction you desire for making it your own, the same would be said if you could actually justify spending 100k on a car, the modding costs would be in parralel to the modding affliction. I have been doing this as many of you have to varying extents for years, ever since owning my first car- a 1979 canary yellow mk1 fiesta when I was 20 which cost me 150 quid and I will continue until I am so old I can no longer legally drive, its in our blood.

oh and 1 more thing as you other guys seem to be slacking I'll get in there first................. yeah there we go :-D
