  1. http://smartalloylancaster.co.uk/ these guys have an alloy repair service (obviously) but also have a bodywork/spay shed of the other side of the village- might be worth a trip down modd1uk. numbers on the website :-)
  2. If its just spraying theres a good place in kirby lonsdale I'll take it to, I think they might have a bodyshop aswell but just wanted to get some feedback here first. FYI modd1uk they were gonna respay/fix my alloys at £65 a corner- considering the work they'll have to do its worth a look for your respay. I'll try find their number tomorrow and let you know mate.
  3. ok some **** put this nice dent on my pride and joy and I need it fixing, question is does it look like an easy fix or a full panel replacment/respray job? I live in Lancaster btw so need to find somewhere quite close for the repair if poss. Also please forgive the state of the alloys, they are in a bad state but I'm onto that soon as I fix this dent! Thanks in advance

    non brembo brakes

Ok guys, the time has come to replace my discs and pads all round on my 54plate import and I wanted to ask your opinion on weather it would be better to upgrade to a brembo setup. Basically discs/pads for non brembo will be £315ish bought from CS and my garage will charge me roughly an hours labour to fit them, so I reckon totalling somewhere round the £400 mark, any idea how much I would be looking at if I decided to go for a Brembo conversion (obviously with new disks/pads aswell)?
  5. Left work tonight to find someone has somehow managed to put a nice big ding in the rear passenger side of my car, weirdly doesnt look like another car has done this as its on the pavement side between the rear light and the back arch so must be pure vandalism, needless to say I'm furious. I'll get a pic up tomorrow when its light but for now just wondered if anyone knows of a good bodyshop that can help in the lancaster area, and what sort of cost I might be looking at. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
  6. Got flyered this aft sometime, outside the pig and whistle pub where I now work (blade nismo kit 54 plate)- and whoever it was didn't even come in and say hello, how rude! Assuming this could of been Martin as I seem to remember him saying he lives in cartmel when we were talking at the lakes meet. Anyway who ever it was next time your passing pop in and say hi :-)
  7. Awesome news mate, always a great feeling when they fly through
  8. 20" mania deep dish multispokes, can't remember the name of the exact style but I love them and will look sweet when they are back to their former glory :-)
  9. well considering I havent spent any money on it other than running costs since I bought it I feel its only fair to splash a little cash on her, and as I have some spare now it would be very rude not to..... Firstly need to refurb the alloys as they are tatty as hell, then sort out some servicing and get new brakes or upgrade them to brembos, then might dabble with the styling a little- dont know where i want to start with that yet cos she wears a nismo kit at the mo but i'm sure there will be plently of posts to follow this one. Today is a good day
  10. ...and it passed with flying colours, not even any advisories not bad for a 54 plate import with 70k on the clock that I bought in may for 5k. Couldn't be happier! Now to decide what to spend the cash I saved for potential mot fails on.... mmmmm
  11. Not sure if this is posted in the correct section but please feel free to move, Basically after experiencing a sticking clutch issue twice this week after being stuck in some serious traffic through town, Ive searched through some older posts and fingers seem to point towards the clutch fluid. It would seem this is correct as when examining the said fluid it would appear the previous owner mistook "clutch fluid" for "bisto" and filled the car with gravy instead! Anyway jokes aside, I need to change the fluid asap so I was wondering.... Is it simple enough to do on my own or should I take it to a garage and pay them to deal with it? I prefer a more hands on/teach myself approach but as I happen to have an extra long 5 day weekend this week I was hoping to spend most of that enjoying the Z and not waiting for the guys in the garage taking their sweet time doing the work while I'm without my pride and joy. Cheers guys, thoughts please
  12. Do you have any pics of ur navman install mate? I was looking at doing the same but wasnt sure if the 7" screen would fit, considering the panoramic ( if you can get one as they are discontinued now i think ) are pretty cheap.
  13. looks like they did some good work on your alloys, preston is only down the road from me so I'll be checking them out, whats the finish on your alloys btw?
  14. Ok so after talking to some of you lovely people at the recent lakes meet about the desperate need to refurb my alloys I'm finding it difficult to make a decision. Basically I love the syle of the rims and dont want to ( or can afford to ) get new ones so a refurb is my only option. My original plan was to take them to a place in Kirkby Lonsdale http://www.smartalloylancaster.co.uk/ who have a few spray options, they would strip the wheels back and re-spray/laquor for £65+vat per corner. This sounded great but the issue I face is that potentially I may end up with cracked laquor again. The other option I am aware of is getting them powder coated, one of you told me its a better finish and costs less or about the same as a spray, but I dont know anywhere round this neck of the woods that does powder coating. Ideally I want a nice shiny, bright, mirror like finish on the dishes and a shadow chrome effect on the centres (pretty much what the rims were like when they were new) I will try and add a couple of pics of what they look like at the moment so you can see how bad they are, any advice would be awesome, cheers guys

    new battery?

cool thanks I will bear that in mind, I've messaged zmanalex so I will see what he comes up with first. Just 1 thing though, I've read once a battery gets so low it fails to start that means its time to get a new one- I take it even if I get it started without a new battery then it wont recharge properly?

    new battery?

    pm'd, thanks mate
  20. I went to start the car this morning after 5 days away and it would seem the battery has died :-( A quick look at my local Halfords store and I was shocked to find a new one will set me back £95! Any idea on where to get one from from and roughly how much it will be? Cheers Liam
  21. sadly there is no manual or paperwork for the seperate alarm/immobiliser system. Ive booked it into my local alarm guy on weds for him to take a look, hopefully he'll be able to suss it out
  22. Ok, my newly bought zed has got what I think is a toad stirling one cat1 alarm/immobiliser fitted, but I keep setting the dam thing off! Basically it seems inconsistant, when i unlock the car with the cars keyfob (remote) and open the door the alarm goes off. So i have to press the stirling fob once before opening the door to deactivate the alarm. once in the car with key in ignition once i turn the key the indicator lights on the dash flash 3 times and if i dont press the stirling fob again the alarm goes off! And sometimes, but not always, when i turn the engine off after a run and open the door to get out, it goes off again!!! Has anyone any experience of this before, or any advice on the sequence of fob pressing?! BTW the stirling fob does not open the door locks, in my last car, a honda prelude, the central locking and alarm/immobiliser were in 1 fob but here on my zed they are seperate. Any ideas?
  23. plan is not much tbh, gonna get the wheels refurbed as the laquer is in pretty bad condition and I'm gonna have to get disks/pads, other than that its sweet for now...... until i have some spare funds in the bank that is lol
  24. here ya go :-) http://s687.photobucket.com/albums/vv23 ... FairladyZ/
