  1. With regards to the "what we can afford", obviously it will vary from car to car. With the brand new price of a 350z (no idea how much they were, 25k or something?), I bought mine for 8, impreza was 6, st 5, vxr 5, evo 4-6, the m3 was roughly the same depending on year. So it was more aimed at the current value of the 350z and what you get compared with others. Personally I wouldn' put hot hatches in a different category to sports cars. That is the body shape style. I know hot hatches that would smash the 350z on the track and what you get with the car. Its the coupe/hot hatch/saloon bracket that's involved in. I've had no experience with any car other than my old diesel focus, 350z and a megane RS. So it was purely by appearance, stats and GT/interior packages. As for the rs4 being In same category as m3, I wouldn't say it was. Personally id have the s4 with the m3, but the rs4 is just that bit higher and classier i.m.o. m3 is an upper market golf gti. You want a hot hatch, GTI. you want an upper model hot coupe, m3. its one of those stereotypical car for people with no ideas. (doesn't include the brand new models or those who just liked the m3, but the ones who wanted a car which everyone spoke about) As for categories, even though its an astra, the 350z is still a Nissan. Granted, Nissan is now becoming a better make, the R series has always been the big separation from ford and Vauxhall as it is basically a super car. The zed I see is the VXR and ST version. roughly same power, quality (in most aspects) and same price. The Focus RS is just an ST. It isn't anything special and can not be compared as ST-350z, RS-GTR, their completely different divisions. Ford just charge more for someone who buys an RS, with the same interior as a 1.6diesel focus with leather seats. Again, we all chose the 350z because we preferred it over the other cars in the budget. ST and VXR were probably a likely competetor for most buyers here, since its the sports cars for under 10k. The reason i bought the zed was because it looked way more expensive than what it was. The amount of "is that a porsche" you get with a 350z is much better than having your family car with a turbo. But, still in the same bracket because i did have to compare the cars. The fiesta and Corsa VXR, even though the corsa vxr is nice, were out of the thought process because its a girlie car. But focus st and astra vxr were there because they had certain advantages compared to the zed. The power of turbo, easily modified compared to the zed, few extra seats. But at the end of the day, you dont get a 1.8diesel 350z. p.s. I sound like im arguing, im not I just like to debate on things
  2. The way I tried to base it was, what you get for your money and budget wise. The s4 is above 350z due to what you get with the car etc, performance, plus the high reliability and extras. I put impreza in the same category as the zed, even though performance wise its faster and has 4wd, but the zed brings itself up with the high litre and appearance. One thing I was shocked at was the impreza is a few .seconds faster than the zed (down to the driver basically) but it tops out at 144....
  3. Ah was meant to say s4, edited now I would have said r8 was in the GTR category. I know nothing about jags, all I know is I cant afford one
  4. I've always thought the 350z was in the same league as Impreza, Evo, ST and VXR. Granted their all turbo, but price, power etc their all generally the same. Im not talking about the coupe or 2seater wise, just a general league of how much you earn to what you can buy sort of thing. Just curious to what sort of league the 350z was in. To me, the order is Super car: Ferraris, Lambos etc Inbetween: GTR, 911 turbo, Audi RS4 RS5 High end sports car : Porsche 911, BMW m3, Audi s4 Sports Car: 350z, 370z,ST, VXR, Impreza, Evo, Audi TT Normal car: 2Litre Focus, 2litre Mg Zr A to B car: 1.2 and 1.4 any car Im basing this on price and what you get wise. My choice was between all named "sports car" category. Just wondering where you think the 350z lies. Most don't think it belongs in with the VXR, impreza area, but I see no reason why not. The reason I chose the 350z, was because evo looks a bit weird from different angles, owned a focus already, impreza was a bit to common, VXR was the closest contender And what were your choices between? Im not aiming this at those who can afford a lambo but chose to buy 350z to highly modify, although do post your input and what you car choices were between
  5. Hey CS, Looking to build up a collection of vinyl stickers on the rear boot of companies who have helped with the supply of car parts on my zed. If you have company vinyl stickers, if you could get back to me by inbox ill talk more about purchasing one. P.S. Your inbox is full Dean
  6. In all honesty, Scottish independence could be the best thing to ever happen to Scotland. It's the not knowing what disadvantage there will be that make me and others vote no. Salmon Fish makes out that it is all going to be perfect, but it won't be. I'd be curious to see what downfalls there would be. i.e. Water, university. He says tax won't rise, but how long will that be confirmed? Edit: If it means we stay out the EU, that could be a good thing. I for one am voting YES to leaving the EU. Absolutely pointless us being there. We have no say in deportation or immigration policies (I know we don't have as much % compared to other countries, but we are more of a target than others)
  7. Nice photography *note: Must buy front bumper hook cover Zed seems mint condition, whats the plans or is it """"""staying standard"""""""
  8. I shall do a boot weight guide in this topic next month, short on cash this month buying loads of stuff for the car that ive left for months >.< So ill go grab that tool from halfrauds as im sick of having to spend 20minutes trying to remove the orange clips from the actual boot when they don't come out with the plastic. Also need to take a few photos on how to get the boot trim off, as some people panic (like me) about this Whilst im there, I need to do some other work. Upcoming guides, and if the admin/moderators are okay with it, ill be doing a "ddcboyle guides" topic, with lots of guides inside of it, page 1 being the index. Just for the simpletons like myself, incase people prefer my guides to others. If the don't, it means I don't clog up the guides page 1) Wiper Delete / Weight remove 2) Rear Light Removal / Rear Bumper removal / Rear indicator and parking sensor removal / Rear licence plate light removal 3) Front bumper removal / Headlight removal / Front reflector removal 4) Door card removal / Wing mirror removal 5) Centre Console removal / CD Player removal 6) Boot plastic trim removal 7) P1 Service on 350z (oil and filter) The guides will be done in the next 2months, as I have to get to all these parts to either remove the vinyl wrap, or do a modification Moderators / Admin, can you get back to me on creating my own guide topic in the guides sections. Reasons above Looking at doing Video DIY Guides, If I can manage to get the missus to hold the camera and not take "selfies" every 2seconds
  9. How did you know they would work if their from ebay? The only thing im curious about is, im sure they all have the same distance set to when they beep. But if one of them is a little thicker, would the main settings need to be changed? Mine look all old and crusty. I dunno what spray the garage put on, but vinyl pulled it off >.< and no, not my bad de-wrapping skills Im looking at a new set, im 100% its because the paint has been removed, they only stopped doing their job properly when the wrap came off.
  10. If you have front, sides and rear nismo kit.... Get that badge stuck on! even if its not genuine, id still put it on mine lol. Ricer to me, is putting a supercharged sticker on your car when its n/a, or sticking air scoops that don't scoop any air.
  11. Not sure if its worth a "mod" rating, but my parents had to keep buying new tyres after someone stabbed them three times. They thought it was reoccurring road they were going down, until they bought a new tyre, had it fitted on the drive and hadn't driven it and was torn. They just bought a camera from maplin with a sensor light to view the car, wires were linked up to a harddrive and reset every few days so it stored all previous weeks data, since then nothing has happened. I know it not ideal AFTER the situation, but worth looking at if its something you will worry about in the future for peace of mind.
  12. Ashtray? Even when i smoked i had the window down, sunshine or thunder storms lol. Thats a glorified coin holder. You either put fags in there, and the car stinks for weeks, or you open window and tap it out (except you have to hold your arm all the way back when releasing the cigarette, otherwise it swoops back into your car and behind your seat.... burn mark..... >.< )
  13. How did you cut the centre part of your nismo bumper, where its black? Ive yet to have to cut somewhere like that. I was looking at two different options, One was the string you place down before hand, wrap over and the string cuts all the way through. Another was tape with a metal piece in between so you can cut directly on, remove the tape and then place down. Just curious how you had done it, presuming you didn't cut straight onto the paint itself? p.s. wrap looks great
  14. Done so now Not sure why nissan didn't design the 350z properly first time Everyone knows you need extra drink holders! (maybe not in japan.)
  15. Thought id post a quick and simple, how to remove the rear wiper guide. For Those who haven't done it before or are car modification simpletons like myself. It excludes the wiper washer jet removal, but will add this in time. Apologies for the half green half silver car. I removed the wiper whilst wrapping, and this guide was taken half way through me removing the wrap on the zed. Skill Level: 3 (Follow the instructions and it will be okay. The only thing you can damage are clips. If you make a mistake, £3 will fix it) Skill Level is 1-10, 1 being a simple job. 10 being professional job. Initial step : Remove the plastic trim from underneath the boot. The easiest way i have found (without the tool) is to just put my fingers around the sides and pull back. The clips can break, they are replaceable. If you do not want to risk breaking the clips, pop along to halfrauds and grab a clip extraction tool device implement. . Step One: Locate the rear wiper blade Step Two: Where my finger is pointed, this is the part we want to get off first. You can either thumb and index finger and twist, or you can simple just use both thumbs and lift either side away and pull up. The part you want to be removing is the lower plastic cover as seen in photo 3. And you want to lift it off from the area my finger is pointing to Step Three: Once removed, place it to the side, you will see a nut holding the actual rear wiper into place. This is a 12mm nut. Simply remove this, and again place to one side. This may be stiff, but it will come out. Lefty loosey Step Four: Just a close up of the nut and spanner, incase your just looking at photos. 12mm. Step Five: Nut has been removed, now to just take off the rear window wiper. This can be a pain sometimes, it will come out but you may need to gently wiggle it to get it away from the spiral metal of the bolt. Step Six: Wiper now removed, you will now see a rubber cap. Step Seven: The Rubber cap fixes itself into position both above the boot and underneath. To remove it, simply put your finger underneath, and pull out. Step Eight: Complete exterior part of the wiper removal is done. Step Nine: Go to the underside of your boot lid, you will see the wiper control motor. There is four things you need to do here. 1) Remove the connectors from one another 2) Cut the cable tie away from the wire (cut the cable tie, not the wire), so it is not attached to the window motor 3) Undo all 3 nuts holding the motor into place. These are all 10mm. Another photo showing the 10mm for those who dont enjoy reading. After all of this. You are ready to put your halfrauds rubber/plastic piece into place to cover up the hole. IF there are any questions about this, or any other steps you would like to see, please comment below I am keeping my rear wiper on the car, so will always have availible for photo purposes.
  16. its a good point about peoples mistakes. I remember reading somewhere that high speed and street racing aren't the cause of most accidents, but people changing lanes without indicating and just jumping into the faster lane doing 50mph with no build up speed.
  17. Ah damn. So theres no easy way of fitting pre and post together without doing some repair work then? that's not good :/ Did you manage to fit it all in the end?
  18. That cant be real lol... one side would surely move, and would defo move if someone got our the car haha.
  19. How does this actually stay in place? Is it just sitting there? Just thinking if I have things on the boot mat and their heavy, itll slide the mat moving the divider?
  20. How would I know which ones were right? Tried searching but theres various different makes of parking sensors? Going to have to remove the rear bumper again to test which ones faulty, but is there a sign on them? Or are all models fitted with the same type? (it was fitted from the Nissan garage on purchase from what I found)
  21. Im presuming to find out if one is faulty I would just get someone in the car, with it in reverse, and swipe my hand over them individually? A few of them have some of the paint off them, not sure if this could be an issue? they were fine initially, I wrapped the car and were still fine just a bit more sensitive, then after removing the vinyl It beeps a lot at the slightest thing. So im presuming, its not the control box, but maybe individual one or all of the paint-broken ones needing replaced. Was just wondering if its a simple swap for the actual bumper part, ive seen some cheap on ebay but never knew if it was a set part you had to use.
  22. Im sure its down to the vinyl wrap taking away some of the cheapo paint on the reverse parking sensors, but when I put the car into reverse, it just beeps all the time as if theres something behind me. Is there a way to repair them? I.e. can I take the silver ones out and buy new silver ones without changing the wiring?
  23. I blame the dinosaurs for the ice age. If it wasn't for all those Threefiftyzedsauraus polluting the air, they would still be here. Global warming, climate change etc has very little to actually do with humans. As a whole, yes humans "may" be speeding it up .. slightly. We pollute the ozone with our fuel and waste, we create more animals to eat, therefore they are producing more waste, and cut down trees which fix the ozone. However, by a general sense, we have only sped it up by like 3%. The Ice Age happened because its what happens. Its like Earths extra season that comes every few million years.
  24. Its going to be a close one, but id put my zed on it, we won't go independent. However, its a good way of showing the rest of the UK, by UK I mean England, that Scotland is more important than they believed initially. Scotland could run on its own, no problem. We have the exports available to make more money than England in a sense of per person or per piece of land, excluding general income London brings being the business capital. We have our own army, and would be taking a certain % of the RAF and Navy aircraft and boats since Scotland has been paying its taxes into the military. Export wise, we will find our own trade site, since London has been the main export location and import. However, Scotlands capital connects to the sea and is only 400 driving miles from London, thus, still as close to Europe (400 miles being very little in exportation). Jobs. Well we would have the same amount of jobs, with the possibility of more in the Scottish government and Armed Forces. Those thinking about Scottish independence and saying Scotland could not cope on their own are far from the truth. Scotland would never be a super power, with the little amount of people we have living in Scotland is nearly half of the population of London. We would simply be a small country. But my own opinion on it, even though Scotland can work on its own. Whats the point in splitting? We gain nothing. Either side. The only reasons I can come up with why Scottish people want to go independent is: 1) Don't like being called English.... ¬ It was 400+ year ago, get over it. 2) Not enough money gets spent on Scotland from the taxes, I.e on roads etc ¬ Watch you have free water, free prescriptions and free university when were on our own, England chooses roads, we chose those. 3) Scotand does whatever England wants ¬ Partly, however Scotland has different laws to England, which Scotland gets to chose via their government. Certain "tests" such as the no smoking in public areas ban that came to Scotland first, did so because it would aggravate less of a population trying it on a small country, rather than a large city in a country where the rest are not affected. 4) Showing the world how strong Scotland is ¬ History shows how strong Scotland is, through invention, wars, holding our country against an empire. If your proud of Scotland, you don't need independence to be prouder. We have our flag, our government, our laws, our land, we just group together to make sure the Island is strategically protected. The rest of the joint commitments are part of this. Obviously, im Scottish against independence
