And to be honest the standards have dropped overall, probably as people are so busy and dont have that much time. My instructor does tend to make us prepare more than other instructors though and I was training 5-7 times per week for this as I just wanted to make sure I was as ready as I could be. Didnt want to fail this one!

Well there's 9th which is the highest of which there's only a few, my instructor is just about to get his 7th. He's been training since he was about 10! You have to wait the amount of years between belts so 2nd 2yrs, 3rd 3 yrs and so on. 7th onwards are honorary titles awarded for your services to the art.

Can teach now, once all instructor certs passed, although I do a bit now anyway but whilst my instructor is about. Took me about 9 year lol, had a few years off with other things going on in my life. Also failed my red belt once, just through nerves and if I'm honest not training enough. Next stop 2nd Dan.

I AM SO HAPPY!!!! Found out I passed my black belt today, for anyone involved in martial arts they'll appreciate what a nerve racking journey it is. Next stop wedding in Dec, slightly less scary but not much

It is, and that's kinda what I like about it! I have the loud shouty car, I'd quite like a subtle barge that I can chuck stuff in & kids eventually. Probably separate the two, though. If that's you're attitude to kids I think you should reconsider, although I think they're quite bouncy when they're young so might be ok
