  1. 7k sounds like quite a lot for a car with so many niggles. If you're prepared to spend 7k you can get a much better car than this one sounds. To summarise: it's been run on unleaded; some people will tell you its fine, experts suggest otherwise. misaligned bodywork; could be the sign of an accident. I'd be looking under the boot carpet to check for straightness. EBC brakes; probably going to get shot for this as others on hear swear they're god's own brakes, but as a brand EBC aren't all that well thought of, so don't fall for 'brand new racing brakes' etc. missed a major service, I'm guessing it was the 55k big one. probably indicative of how the car has been looked after. For 7k. No. DB
  2. That stuff is an attempt at sticky-backed carbon fibre, and having used it I can tell you it is an absolute NIGHTMARE to work with. It won't stretch or conform at all like vinyl does so unless your intended part is perfectly flat you're in trouble. If you could get it to sit properly it would look a bit better than vinyl, but the chances of that happening are so small it's not worth the effort. PM rtbiscuit and get some good vinyl DB
  3. We don't, we pay Vehicle Excise Duty or whatever. At least they've stopped even pretending they spend the money on roads. DB
  4. You mean the way vinyl 'just peels off'. Because no one has ever ended up with knife marks and scratches all over their paint from a bodged vinyl removal... I'm on your side here, I just don't want you to end up with a shite-looking car because you hadn't thought this through properly. That's the point of mooting the idea on a forum surely? The fact that you'll be using a spray gun significantly increases your chance of success I'd say DB
  5. Why? Sorry but just because you can find one or two cheaper examples doesn't automatically mean the car is overpriced. Look on PH and autotrader, the going rate for this age and mileage is between £6500 and £7500. Yes it's at the top end but it's hardly 'way overpriced'. Also worth bearing in mind that although you never get the full value of mods, it does have a pretty expensive HKS exhaust on. Annoys me that because someone saw a UK car once for £5500 that's apparently what they're all worth now and anything else is overpriced. /rant DB
  6. It means their cup is always half empty I just think that as you have already said that you don't have the cash to get it wrapped professionally, I would think twice before doing something that has the potential to require professional correction if it goes wrong. My main concern is that bodyshops use sprayguns for a reason, and I think you'll struggle to get an even finish over such a large area with rattlecans. I would assume you can't colour sand this stuff? DB
  7. Pretty sure it isn't an import guys. The close up of a wheel where you can clearly see the caliper is of a rear wheel, so of course it has a tiny caliper. If you look in the other shots you can just about see the front calipers and they look the correct sise and appear to have the brembo logo on. It also has all the correct GT features and UK bumpers. If that's an import someone's dona a hell of a job disguising it because I've never seen an import with exactly UK spec before. I could be wrong, and if it is an import it's overpriced, but for a UK car it's a reasonable price if the styling is your thing and it's in good condition. DB
  8. I'm assuming you've thought through the implications of spraying your car in something that's designed to peel off? Kudos for having the stones to try something different, and white is definitely the way to go, but I'm finding it hard to see how this can end well, lol. Prove me wrong DB
  9. But seriously, other than the usual '320bhp' bullshit, looks to be pretty reasonably priced if everything is in good nick. Definitely go and look at it before bidding or making an offer though. DB

    Mileage

True, but my clutch went at 50k, so does that mean no-one should buy a car any older than 30k because the clutch might go soon? I fully get your point about clutches not being cheap, but they're consumables, and a car will go through several clutches in its lifetime, so buying a 100k car doesn't really put you at much more risk of clutch failure than buying a 50k car. However old the car is the clutch will go at some point. Same deal with tyres, at around £800 a set for something decent it isn't cheap, but it also isn't at all dependant on the mileage of the car. A zed is going to be expensive to run however old it is, so I don't think people should be terrified of something with 80k on it in case it explodes 5 miles down the road because so far it seems that all the non-consumable parts are pretty sturdy. DB
  11. With the Jenvey ITB kit on I can well believe 350bhp as well. Someone in the states made 370 at the wheels running Jenvey ITBs along with every other N/A mod you can think of. DB
  12. You could be on to something there.
  13. Black pillars, roof, mirrors and boot Carbon bonnet Black TE37s Green calipers You could play it safe and go for option 3 for the OEM look. Or you could go for man points and do the above. DB
  14. I would attempt to troll, but lack the awesome skills to make cars vanish Option 1 Option 2 Option 3 DB
  15. Photoshoptroll... ddcboyle, If no one has already done it by then I'll knock it together after dinner. DB
  16. Haha, IF i had 30k to spend. And it's unlikely you'll want my zed at the moment as it's at Abbey with an extremly poorly gearbox. Again. DB
  17. Because £30k doesn't get you a GTR Not far off: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201237484970906/sort/default/usedcars/model/gt-r/make/nissan/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/postcode/gl33nr/radius/1500/page/1?logcode=p I know you can pull out one example of almost anything at a stupid price, but this doesn't seem to be much of an exception. There are quite a few of them sub-£35k. DB If thats the one I think it is then its an import. Everyone on GTROC has warned people off the imports for some reason I was hoping they would dip below £30K in the next 12 months so I could get one but it appears I'm now buying a house instead If I had 30k to spend it would be on an R-34 (such as yours ) with some change to keep it mint rather than stretch to a bottom end R-35. And I definitely wouldn't get a 350z with a hideous bodykit and a useless supercharger (not to mention the interior from an Alfa). DB

  19. That first interior pic isn't even of a 350z. Nice honest advert... DB
  20. Stop trying to unscrew it now before you damage anything. You need to take off the gear surround trim and clamp the gear stick (the actual stick) with some molegrips and hold onto them so you don't twist the stick off inside the box or something. The knob does unscrew, but it's really on there so another set of grips on the knob (protect it if you want to keep it) is a good idea. DB
  21. Exactly my thinking too. I started using it during my RAF training and other guys were getting massive crashes on more extreme stuff which (as you'll know) you really can't afford to have when you've got pointless training tasks to be doing. DB
  22. Oh my.... Those wheels. *retires for a change of trousers* DB
  23. My goals are a little different to most on here, but these are the two products I use: PRE-workout Product: Maxifuel (Maximuscle) Viper Active Price: £19.99 for 25 servings (Normal price from Maximuscle, but usually bought during their frequent offers) Effect: It's basically an electrolyte and carb mix, so whilst it's not going to make you suddenly feel like you can pull trucks with your wang, I find that just feeling hydrated and energised (i.e. 'ready' for my workout) is motivation enough for me. Worth noting that this should be drunk at least an hour ahead of your workout, as it can make you feel a bit gassy right after drinking it. Taste: Really quite nice in fruit punch flavour. Perfectly as drinkable as something like lucozade sport but much more effective. Period of use: over 1 year POST-workout Maxifuel (Maximuscle) Recovermax Price: £29.99 for 10 servings (again this is the list price, but I always buy in bulk during their offers when it is a lot cheaper) Effect: This stuff is great for immediate and next day recovery, it stops you feeling knackered after your workout thanks to the hit of electrolytes and carbs, and reduces aching and stiffness the next day thanks to the protein. Due to a lower protein content that pure protein drinks, this isn't going to turn you into arnie, and I'm not really sure that it promotes any significant additional muscle growth (perhaps a little more definition) other than by allowing you to work harder more often due to aiding recovery. Taste: In orange flavour it's by far the nicest recovery drink I've ever tasted, actually really nice tasting. Period of use: over 1 year Why I choose these products: As I said above, my goals are general fitness orientated rather than body-building. My fitness is targeted at MMA, so I include significant cardio and conditioning training as well as just strength. I also have to keep to around 80kg, so I don't want to uncontrollably gain muscle mass or retain water. If you're looking to turn into a meat-mountain then these aren't the products for you, but if you're training for general fitness or triathalon or similar, then I haven't found anything better for less money. DB PS. Before we get onto 'Maximuscle is s**t' etc etc,Ii have tried similar products from other brands and in this case they aren't nearly as good. For pure protein I'll agree than Promax doesn't seem the best value, but this stuff is different.
  24. Good idea I think. I'm not kidding myself that it'll ever make any difference to insurance whatsoever, but from a road safety perspecitve it seems pretty sensible. I think a lot of things to do with driving in this country suffer from having been concieved so long ago when things were very different, and then having been tweaked occasionally rather than overhauled when they should have been. My main issue with the current driving test is its lack of requirement to drive a certain number of hours in defferent conditions and situations. If you look at aviation, there is a minimum number of hours you must complete both accompanied and solo before you can obtain a private pilot's license. There is an acknowledgement that just knowing the theory and what all the knobs and buttons do isn't good enough to let someone loose with the vehicle, and that a person should be forced to experience a wide variety of situations whilst still in a learning environment. You also have to renew your license annually. Even the RAF, who are starting with a hand-picked group of exceptionally capable individuals still take about 6 months to teach the basics of flying a light aircraft. Now I acknowledge that a light aircraft is significantly more complex to operate than a car, but there's also a hell of a lot less to hit in the sky. I don't see why people think an intensive 4 week course is going to equip someone with enough experience of varied situations to be able to act safely as part of something as incredibly complex as the UK road network, it's really pretty stupid when you think about it.
