That was the risk you ran when you bought it. It could have cost you considerably more than that, so look at it that way. To be honest, what it's cost to fix I think you'll be doing well to break even; which is what I would have expected if the engine didn't eat itself given it was just a temporary, brief stop gap in the first place. I'd be making £1k loss. Not good I had to contribute towards the engine rebuild, warranty only pays £5k (hopefully)
