Hindsight's a wonderful thing. What an utter a**se I really feel for you there. Sod's law it hits yours and nobody elses car on the street. If your insurance doesn't cover, isn't it something you could hang fire on and claim in Jan (some big scrote was jumping on my roof, i chased him but couldn't catch him - type of thing?). Annoys me when you actually do pay insurance and the times you need it you're conveniently not covered for certain events! Hope it all sorts out for you. We've not got enough snow to flatten a yoghurt pot here so no need for me to worry... yet!

It looks like it'd be a tight fit. Do you not think that due to the size of the Ipad screen and it's non-curved shape that when fitted it'd look a bit of a dodgy bodge job? I'm happy to be shown otherwise as am really sold on the Ipad

Have been enjoying using the 4x4 with winter tyres on this week and then the wife decides she's off on a family visit taking no notice of the road conditions and leaves me the trusty Z to get to the station. Happy to report no problems other than a bit of sliding off the estate. More than could be said for a few cars all with better grip than the Z. Was tempted to pull up and take piccy next to the ditched car as 'snow scalps'. The ultimate would be a 4x4 left to the weather!

They're great pictures! Certainly set the benchmark for any claiming snow! In Bedford we've a mere dusting yet the whole town seems to be in dire panic turning a 20 minute drive into a good 45 mins... got to love the yocals.

oooo if you go to Italy, make sure you plan in the San Gotthard pass in Switzerland and head down from there. Some Amazing driving roads down the East side of Italy. We took a VX220 VXR and followed the mille miglia, an amazing tour though not too comfy in a VX220!!

Yeah, some really nice pictures on here. On one of the night ones I think you've a person waving a flaming torch or something around - a similar effect to the 'talk talk' adverts. Have you tried this in a more staged environment ie drawing with a torch on a long exposure? You can create some pretty interesting pictures doing that! Took 3 weeks to decide a name for our daughter so i'm not going to be much help there sorry!

Better safe than sorry, change all 4 now and you could always save the 'not-quite-dead' set for a track day? One crash due to tyres on the fringe of being replaced and you'll kick be kicking yourself. I use Falken ZIEX ZE-912's which were a good price and have done me well so far.

I remember when I first picked up my Z I was obsessed about keeping it above 30mpg and then had a little chat to myself about why I had spent so long wanting a z in the first place and it certainly wasn't the mpg. A month later and I got hit by the road tax and had to have another sit down. It's all worth it though. I tend to get 25mpg urban on a stock Z GT

Yeah that's the thing with black. Clean it's just the best colour but even a drive to the petrol station later and you start noticing the bits of dirt n dust.

I replaced a set of bridgestones with some Falken ZIEX ZE-912's. I've not driven too much in them since fitting but they seem to hold much better in the wet and especially on those slippy first rainy days after a warm spell. I even had the unfortunate experience of using them in a couple of inches of snow which they weren't so great in (no suprises there!) despite the fact that the bridgestones did need replacing I still found them awful in the wet and really struggled to put and power through the wheels. Interesting that the same brand albeit different size tyres on my Civic type R were also pathetic in the wet. I bought them from the delticon site and had a whole set fitted for a pretty reasonable price. Quiet enough on the road. Interesting read this whole thread!

wow 20-30bhp?! that's more of a difference than I'd thought, makes me feel a bit better on filling up with the expensive stuff now!

Pasted from elswhere... The air conditioner wastes more gasoline, hands down. Turning the heater on uses heat energy all ready stored in your cars coolant system to warm the air in the cabin. This is why your heater does not work until the car has been running for a few minutes. This energy is all ready in the car if you use or or not. The A/C on the other hand activates a compressor which requires more electricity from your cars alternator to run. The energy to power the compressor has to be converted by the alternator, making your motor work harder. Some cars also have an additional fan that turns on with the A/C to help keep the alternator cool as it too works harder. This fan also draws power though, creating an even greater load for your motor. If you wanted to test this, let your car run for a minute or two until its at its normal idle RPM. When you click the A/C on you will most likely see the RPMs on the tach increase. This is your motor compensating for the additional work it is doing by increasing the rate at which it works (RPM). Sorry for sounding like a science teacher, hope this helps and lets you shut your friend up =) PS: Using the A/C will cause you to burn more fuel if your on the freeway or in the city, either way. PSS: Often times, rolling your windows down will cause you to burn even more gas than using the A/C, at least while at freeway-speeds of 60+. This is because you are creating much more aerodynamic drag with the windows down. It depends a lot on the vehicle your in, but more often than not this is true.
