    Roof revival

Sorry chap. I have jad a scout around for info with not much luck. It might be worth asking someone like premium detailing or envy in the traders section and see if they can recommend a product.
  6. Cheers fella Noble are keeping your details...they described you and clark as "Good contacts". what has them puzzled is what damaged the hub. Also the guys that resurfaced the discs thought there were "castings" but we think that was just the kangeroo paw confusing them. Just bedded them in and seem ok.
  7. Car fixed. £ 700 and a hub lighter (thanks alex). Noble are not convinced it wont come back as they are still puzzled as to how the hub deformed and why it had created such a problem. But at least its sorted.
  8. I raised this as a query when I replaced mine. As many have already said not being "road" pads doesnt make them bad pads. What would be interesting is if it would invalidate your insurance, if so and you fit them ... i wouldn't go shouting about it. I went for Reg 90 approved Cosworth SM pads to be safe from Horsham Dev (Basically best I could get staying within regulations). I checked my pads when they arrived and the approved symbol is small and would eventually rub off I believe so how you would go about proving or if anyone would check is another matter. I doubt DVLA or Police will strip your brakes down to check!! Maybe someone form Sky, Chris Knott etc could comment on insurers position?
  9. Re. Member discounts you have signed up to the site and therfore are a Member and can use the discounts If codes are not present on the discount thread you may need to pm a moderator to get the code. Sky has its own section in Profesional Traders - viewforum.php?f=150 As does Chris knott = viewforum.php?f=173 As does Livingstone Warman viewforum.php?f=172 Could start there
  10. Pads and calipers are fine i believe
  11. Im wondering. could a buildup of pad material cause the vibration but not show when checking runout?
  12. The runout thats left after the hub had been replaced i believe was acceptable...but when measured in the air. Its almost like its only when its under preassure. Aparently they have checked suspension, calipers etc. So any ideas?
  13. Nobel seem to think they can be refaced. But i dont want the problem coming back.
  14. I think thats what noble are going to do.... i just want my car back
  15. Still old disc atm.. not put the new ones on as they were checking if it was just the hub flange. has anyone ever heard of the hub flange deforming without a heavy impact?
  16. Aparently there was no significant runout when the discs ar on and in the air. Noble are saying though that the runout out on a hub flange is only normally seen if the car had hit something. Which unless it did it whilst i wasnt looking it hasnt! They cant see evidence on the bearing of an impact so they are baffled. Given the strength of the hub flange they woudlhave expected the bearing to go if it had been hit hard enough to deform it. Has the disk damaged the hub flange (is that even possible!) or vice versa? Or is it something else. They also are baffled how come there is no apparent run out on discs ( in the air ) yet vibration is still there. The new discs are still sat with Noble but I have already forked out for hub, if they bang new discs on and it doesnt do the job ill still have to pay for them. Otherwise its re-face the disks to get rid of any irregularities but again more pennies..... and is the disc still going to carry some deformation?
  17. Ok.. So new hub on - run out checked. Discs back on runout checked.... All ok. Road test..... vibration still there.... Im getting really annoyed now - any ideas anyone? To be precise the vibration only occurs around the 60mph under medium to firm braking. Its throught the steering wheel. Firm braking - no noticable vibration (though that may be because its decelerating to fast), Soft braking - no noticable vibration, Braking at lower speeds - no noticable vibration. Im giving it till the weekend and then im going to start looking at other cars
  18. New update.... looks like there may be a hub problem... the garage are continuing investigations new hub is on its way and discs are going back. Not very amused as they said they had checked the hub already so im not sure how it was missed or if it was just discounted. But have said they would be suprised if it could have caused the runout as the hub deformation is very small but in the abscence of anyting else its the only thing they can think of as it was still there. Given that the cars not been in any prangs/hit curb in my ownership the only thing it can be put down to is a pot hole or something. But i imagine I will never really know. So waiting on new hub then check the old disks are ok. Many thanks to CS and Clark for their help and hopefully this will get sorted! Bum... again...

    Rusty Stillen

There are different grades of stainless but over time they will tarnish. I had one from EUK (Cobra) on previous car and it stood up really well but I still had to clean it every now and then. Autosol should clean it off in no time chap - i imagine you will find it is just on the surface.
  20. Ditto can you let us know how it stands up to a bit of wear.
