  1. If you want t use the main dealer then glyn hopkin off v8 (where i got my z from) seemed fairly helpful as dealers go and did both a p3 on my car in november when it was traded in and a p1 when i bought it a month ago
  2. looks, looks, looks... used to work at nissan's r&d centre in cranfield for a few years, loved the z's when they came in then, had the press poster of the facelifted z on my wall for the last 3 years so i bought one bought it because as a daily mile muncher it really is comfortable, 32ish mpg on a run (ave) but if you wanna play you can. Although i really do love the outside, the interior was a massive selling point, the z's interior is above the previous gen tt in looks and build quality - though the audi might win on materials despite the z's v solid feel! for the money, what other sub 3 year old can can you get that comes close to the looks and performance of the z with the reliabilty... i know i'm preaching to the converted but i think they're v cool cars!
  3. I'd have thought a regular polish and wax should keep on top of that but nissan red is notoriously bad for fading on other models, i image its a similar paint on the zed :-(

    mpg??

i drive 120 miles a day and in the brief time i have driven the z to work i averaged low to mid 30's through country roads/back roads, dual caridgeways and lots of roundabouts, on the daily commute to work its great to have the power there if late but really its all about the feeling of driving it, comfort and good stereo and air con on the daily drive, fun drving is best for the weekends when theres not much traffic... imo the economy, cost of servicing and interior comfort is why i bought a z over a low mileage r33 gtr, compared to that the z is frugal
  5. ditch the carrier and put the cat in the cargo net ... you'll be able to fit a carrier's width and letgth in probably but the height is an issue as the boot is v shallow, although you could just remove the fasle floor and spare wheel?
  6. any pics of the seat runners mate? how much are you looking for them?
  7. Please dont be offended mate, i love my vw's! i said relitevely slow compared to the z, they're not slow but they do not feel as quick as the z regardless of what evo said. I have driven a few and like i said i am even putting all the gear into my project car so i'm not slagging the thing off but the experiance is very different to the z in all honesty the reason i chose to spend so much time and effort cutting up my vgc corrado and welding in new rear floor, cross member, stripping it of all wires and original parts and rebuilding it as an R32 is because the technology is great, reliable safe handling, pretty quick as standard and easily diagnosable in the event of faults occuring Also i prefer the look of the corrado inside and out, but the amount of extra time and effort needed is only worth it cos it will be the car i want when i'm done, if you need a reliable rapid family hatch the the r32 is a great motor, similar fuel economy to the z but has 5 seats and a boot so is a very usefull car

    New Car

lovely car mate, used to have a red one at work for a while last year, v imposing and pretty solid It's obvious... ...he's a p0rnstar  it seems he doesnt wanna say!
  9. mines insured as a 350z gt, all they said to me is they'll pay out market calue etc, this is normal for all insurance companies surely? hence i bought gap insurance when i got the car and when i had my hightly modified corrado insured before i stripped it i had all mods named and individually valued and an agreed valuation on the car, this cost about 30% more than other companies through HIC but it gives you piece of mind!
  10. good choice, i broke one and am installing all the running gear into my corrado vr atm. not knowing which version you are looking at... i used a written off mk4, about 50k, you might want to look out for... leaking rear diff oil reseviour condition of rear diff and propshaft bolts (these had rusted so much they instantly rounded off on my one and were a pita to remove (not that you will but bear in mind for servicing!) wear on the seats and wheel - steering wheel is terrible and wears quickly condition of brakes - expensive discs and pads comparable to the z there is very little room to work in the engine bay... the R32 lump is awesome but fills the space o and unfortunately, compared to a z it is relitively slow, although the handling is unflappable and will benifit from a remap straight away if you can afford it to bring it within z car speeds o and if you have a bit of cash to spare, add some schrick cams, induction kit, cat back exhaust and remap and you'll be looking at 310 bhp+ and it sounds like a mental race engine :-) the gearbox will take up to 600bhp and the engine itself can supposidly handle somewhere near 400bhp on stnadard internals. Get yourself on www.r32oc.com
  11. yep i was looking at 2003 on coupes with about 40k and full bm history, decided the z was more fun, and i work in a place with hundreds of car nuts and most who i talked to said the z seemed like so much more value for money and there's been no badge snobbery at all!
  12. yep it was bmw rape i was talking about! i mean the leate e46 m3's, always dreamed of a csl since i used to park my corrado next to one when i worked at nissan a few years ago... stunning cars! - they make such a cool racerace noise!
  13. if your looking at an m3 beware the servicing costs! it decides when it needs a service in respect to how its been driven, bloke at work traded his in (had in since new for 3 years or so) against a new s5 cos it was so expensive to run. The reason i chose the Z was cos it was cheaper to do the miles i do each year, was looking for m3's and with what my z cost you can get a v nice facelifted one... its a difficult choice but i suppose you gotta work out what you wanna spend your hard earned on
  14. Ok I've spoken to the accident repair place, its at the insurance approved one so i could get my sexy lil yaris coutesy car - good that i can get to work though!# Anyway, they have been authorised to order the parts and carry out the work, its total bill is... £6k!!!! Thank you to everyone who has posted and pm'd so far with offers of help and parts, awesome! but doing it through the insurance and launching a claim against the borough council so it all has to be pretty much all new oem parts from nissan apparently! boring! lol They have assured me that the chasiss is straight and here is a list of parts Front Bumper wing Indicators Light Wheel Tyre Front control arms Hub assembly Strut Washer Arch liner pretty much as i thought but bloody hell, the prices form Nissan! I have had a word with the bodyshop manager about aftermarket parts and he is not prepared to fit an aftermarket bumper on the grounds he always find they require a good few hours more paint and prep to fit than standard and thats whats been quoted. He is very willing to paint and or fit a bolt on front lip spoiler and i havent asked but hopefully clear front repeaters! He asked me to find a pic of the spoiler i want and email it to him then he can work out whats required, so that gives me a challenge at lunch time o and thanks Gaz for the pick of the stroesk bumper, i rang you or a colleague at envy just before the bodyshop rang back and i wont be able to take the bumper now but will proably be in contact about the reflectors!
  15. cheers for the responses fiberglas wings dont really apeal, the cars never gonna be a light weight machine so steel is fine + i could weld up the holes in the wing for the idicators if i decide to go smooth! i think that clear front indicators are the way forward as i'd rather delete the side wing mounted ones! i wont be around this saturday now, helping a mate move house and out in london for the eve but defo need to get to a meet/show to see whats out there (you see so much when you actually own the car!) yeah there might be chassis damage, i hope not but i will find out soo i'm sure!... if so and is irripairable i think i might cry! lol
  16. aye, tried that, the maximise is greyed out, i'm just copying the link and pasting it into a maximised window, not ideal but works!
  17. On Friday, my 12th day of possessing my z (bought it a week before but didnt pick it up straight away as i insisted on getting some marks tidied up, service etc) I drove round the roundabout on the estate my house is on and the back end flew out wildly, tried correcting with steering and throttle but that didnt help and continued to slide into a kerb with the front left wheel and came to rest against a lamp post i have lived here for 2 years without incident and the highways agency are constructing a new major road from this roundabout and the associate earthmovers have left a trail of mud and diesel which wont have helped anyway thats the abridged version... the car is now at the insurance approved accident repair centre looking a little like this the damage i can see is knackered front bumper, near side front (nsf) light, nsf wing, nsf indicator, nsf wheel, bent steering rack. fortuately the bonnet, sill and door are all ok, the inner wing apears straight as the majority of damage ocured to the wheel, hece the bent rack and the impact against the lamppost (the oly fecking one there! )was quite low speed, it just looks bad! I dont believe the insurance will write it off for what is relivately minor damage as they are all bolt on parts and it is/was a very mint delaer fresh 56 plate gt pack. Questions i have really, how much are a new front bumper idicator and light from the dealers? Cos i fancy using this as a means to mod! Any one got any experiance asking a bodyshop to fit non standard parts in replacement for the standard ones they are meant to be replacing? I only really want to fit a subtley different front bumper, with a splitter if it has indicators on the front corners id like to fit silver ones and seeing as it needs a new wing i'd like to delete the wing indicaotrs and fit z4 style ones where the z badge is (did i imagine these or are they available?) i've seen a great selection of bumpers on envy's z store buy am having trouble with the images - when i click on them they open a seperate window but it is too small to see the pic! if ay one can be of any help it'd be greatly appreciated! i'm in a new yaris courtesy car and although frugal the 110 miles round trip to work each day is already driving me mad! cheers guys and girls! Andy
  18. best way i know to wash the car is pressure wash the whole car, arches wheels etc attached foam lance and cover in snow foam leave for the soap to soak into the dirt pressure wash off then i use megs gold class wash stuff in a wash bucket with a microfibre (different for wheels and body) rinse off dry using a drying towel over all dry the wheels then lift bonnet tailgate and doors again (washed these earlier) and dry tends to work pretty well as the microfibre cloth is supposed to keep the dirt off the paint
  19. 24 Fuly Comp Garaged 3 yrs NCB 15k a year £1300 The special Z discount isnt applicable as chris knott only covers over 25's! despite the fact the ncb's were attained on a grp 16 gti and 18 corrado, wasnt happy. Is it any wonder there are so amny uninsured young drivers on the road! but i suppose i'll have to see next year!
  20. why not chamge the seats then? if you wanna keep the wheel just look at aftermarket electric or manually adjustable seats, each brand will sit differently and through maybe sitting in other peoples seats in they're zed if you can find one you might be sorted! Think yourself lucky, i'm 6'5" and my hair brushes the ceiling, my legs are too bent and the wheel almost rubbing on my thighs (i'm no fat bastard though! lol) but i decided to put up with it til i fit different seats to drop me further down and back
  21. erm buy the looks of dont do what i did and get from nissa, about £60!!
  22. was looking at nurrish's sytem earlier but the nissan one still kind of apeals, can you post some pics of the unit in your car? is it the cubby mounted one or the exposed unit with different fascia panel? o and if this is birdview can it accept the reversing camera nissan fitted to the primera or pathfinder? cheers andy
  23. body polish wont touch it mate, i usually clean exhausts with mr muscle oven cleaner to remove all the hard baked on crap then some scotch brite fine pads then finally go at it with autosol and a soft cloth, wont take long at all and autosol or alubelgum are purpose designed metal polishes worth bearing in mind though, the harder you polish the better the finish as you are applying an abrasive to the metal
  24. technically the chap left the scene of an accident without giving his details - a criminal offence. His car hit your car, regardless of the fact it was an opened door that did the damage - imagine if a parked car rolled into the sid eof your z cos the dozy owner left the handbrake off, thats an accident that you'd claim on their policy for, so's this. Call, or go and see your local plod explaining you have the photographic evidence and cctv, + discribe his manor and they will be interested as the can prosecute the ignornant ****
  25. yep been in nissans for eyars, i remember by dad getting a 300zx from work and him and my grandad comparing the engines with my grandads old maxima, tried and tested vq engine, never forget clarkson's a plank! :-)
