SISSY! Bet they grit the road outside your house......... 5 miles of narrow untreated country road for me before i get to the main road. Funnily enough though, when it snows thats the bit you can get along albeit very slowly and carefully. Its the main A road that grinds to a halt! What really pees me off though is all the t0ssers that don't appreciate you're in rear wheel drive and hence crawling on the country road ice - they just tailgate you all the way - especially the chelsea tractor brigade! id like to point out last winter... they gritted the road CONSTANTLY when it wasnt even cold. thus running out of grit and letting it get coated in snow. i was still out anyway i love driving in the snow and would swap your commute for mine

that, i think, will end up being the plan. just want something of a professional finish. most likely i will do it at xmas when i have access to my pillar drill again. still would be far easier to buy.

and as for removing something to make it UK sounding, i have no idea but my best guess would be there is a built in baffle or something in yours suppressing/attenuating the noise. if your lucky it could just be an extra bit added onto the line to damp/attenuate the sound and you could just cut it off and weld the hole. but most likely it will be integrated.

For vehicles over 10 years of age the max level allowed is 103 dB. UK: Basically there is no legislation in the UK that sets a max noise limit for production cars. There is for motorbikes, and for kit cars and specials, but not for production cars. It is an offence under C&U (I think it is) to modify the exhaust so that it is noisier than "standard". I need some alloy wheel centre caps and have no idea how to search them on t'internet. They have small allen keyed bolts holding the current ones on which i assume i can remove and replace with different, less ugly ones? ill get a pic if it makes it easier? EDIT: ok heres piccy of what im rabbiting on about, or should that be barking?

ugh i know what you mean, the eternal darkness being the worst bit im going to get some big floodlights and a patio heater this year so i can work on the car when i get back from work
