  1. I see, thanks guys, i shall look into it more, see I did say I was ignorant! I just found that diagram explaining offsets too so it makes more sense now.
  2. Hey guys, See alot of great looking cars on here, with all different setups etc. I'm interested in doing the same, but if I upgrade my wheels I want to go the whole hog. 19's, with 245 front, 275 rear tyres. I'd like to lower it a bit so they fill the arches nicely... probably Teins lowering springs which are iirc 17mm front and 14mm rear? Then to make sure they sit nicely stick some spacers in. My question is how does all this effect the suspension, handling, fuel consumption... if at all. Are there problems with this sort of setup rubbing in the arches or naffing the turning circle or anything like that. Bit new on the actual mechanics of changing my wheel setup, never modified a car before Dave
  3. Welcome! Clean looking Zed you got there!
  4. Is it too late to add a +1 to my booking?! Got a mate wants to come along in my car! Dave

    New bumper!

Hi, Got myself a new bumper, from Zmanalex on here actually, great service. In great condition, OEM bumper with aftermaket lip, carbon air intake and badge smoothed over. Currently it's blade silver but my car is an Azure. Which means a respray. Local recommended bodyshop have quoted me £200 to spray it. Has warned me that the colour is sometimes a problem even though there is only one shade of B17 Azure Blue. Something to do with the type of metallic paint it is. Anyone have experience of this? Can anyone confirm only one shade of the colour too? Pic of the bumper > I think it looks sweet, looking forward to getting it on. Will be dremelling out the standard grille and putting mesh in. -Dave
  6. I live in Southampton and commute past the services every day, just wanted to check! haha
  7. Aye ty mate, i'm in, signed up! Shoudl be fun. Let's hope it stops raining long enough this week to give her a good clean before sunday!
  8. Would also like to attend! 2003 GT, Azure coming from Southampton if still places available. Will need the rest of the week off to get her tarted up for it damnit. What time are people meeting at Rownhams? -Dave
  9. There is an excellent guide on the forum here for stripping and cleaning the motor and doing it all yourself. I had the exact same problems with mine, and for now I just took the card off, reset the timiing, and sprayed a ton of silicon lubricant on all the wires, pulleys, runners etc whilst operating the window up and down. That has been running fine for a week or so now with just one blip. Will be doing the full strip down and grease up when the weather gets a bit better. -Dave Edited to add : viewtopic.php?f=35&t=30870
  10. I'm in southampton but work in verwood, always up for a meet if im around
  11. are these private clamping companies legally allowed to tow your car away? Surely if they are not an official body it should count as theft?
  12. Painting as in stripping back and full respray or just a blowover? It might well be an option, mine is pretty damaged I think... not sure if I could get it perfect even if it was professionally repaired. I'll let ya know mate -Dave
  13. Have a MY03, Azure Blue, Gt Spec UK zed. My current bumper is getting very tatty, and some sod has clipped one side of it while i was away working. Looking to get a replacement used one at a decent price as opposed to trying to repair and spray the current one. There are a few bits and bobs on ebay but thought I would try here first. Live in southampton, happy to arrange shipping or collection depending on distance and price. Anyone have anything available? Dave
  14. Thanks Martin, speedy reply!
  15. Hi all, Trying to decide the best route to go for replacing my OEM bumper on the zed. It's a '53 plate, and Azure is the colour. I work away quite a bit and after my last trip I came back to a crack in the front bumper at the bottom, and the top, drivers side of the bumper where it meets the wing protruding slightly and not sitting flush. It's also worth mentioning that I do quite a few miles, 12-15k a year in her, so there are quite a few stone chips in the current bumper as well as the new problems. As I see it I have serveral options for replacement. 1) Get the current one off, repaired, resprayed and refitted, assuming it is not beyond repair with a big crack about 5 inches long down the front. Estimated cost is about £200-300 if i do the fitting myself. The sprayer is a little concerned about colour matching having done an azure zed before. 2) New bumper. Same rough cost for spraying. Colour matching issue. Nissan dealer estimating £600+VAT for the part. Seems excessive to me. 3) Ebay or forum. Used Azure bumper. There are a couple on ebay right now, look to be in good condition, reasonably good prices. Possible concern with colour match, although I wouldn't have to pay for spraying so...? Fitting should just be a bolt on job though? I could likely collect it and fit it myself all in one weekend. 4) Aftermarket bumper and spraying. Not sure on fitment, colour match still likely an issue. Don't have the money right now for a full kit, so just a front bumper may look odd? I have thought about going aftermarket, but think they would likely look a bit odd without other kit (skirts, rear bumper, diff etc) to go with them. I particularly like the do-luck wyvern front bumper, but that in particular would probably look a bit odd without any side skirts at the very least. Anyone have experience of this? Also how well do these aftermarket kits fit to the car? Are they bolt on and go like the OEM parts or do they require some jigging and filling? Anyone have any opinions on the best option of those listed above? Anyone ever bought a used OEM bumper of the right colour and just whacked it on? Given the mileage i'm doing this might be the most sensible option given the snow-plough front of the zed that creates stone chips constantly. Any thoughts, opinions or experiences would be welcomed, I really can't decide what to go for. I just know I can't leave it as is, it's stressing me out everytime i see it -Dave
  16. Personally I find this to be a common occurrence in the wet conditions. Been particularly bad this year as the roads are still covered in salt and shite making them slicker than ever. I'm also running with the stock bridgestones, and you have to be pretty light on the accelerator on anything remotely resembling a corner, or even pulling out at junctions at an angle. Think I'm going to replace them pretty soon with Toyo's or maybe Falkens (been hearing some good thigns about them despite the budget price). I have to say though I run without the ESP on most of the time, I find it horrendous. When it does kick in it feels like you have completely lost control of the car, it's a horrible feeling, the way it kills the power, and you can't compensate for it instinctively. With it off, if you feel the back end give a little, with a few gentle movements you can normally get it back very quickly and smoothly, the Zed is well behaved if you treat her right . Echoing what a couple of people have said, if you find it a very nerve wracking experience when the back end goes on you in a torquey RWD car like the Zed, might be worth doing a couple hours or half day training somewhere, just to give you a bit more confidence and control if it happens again, which it likely will :-D Glad you all ok! :-D -Dave
  17. Sat behind a fellow Azure zed this morning on the M27, with a Nismo spoiler, looked very tidy! First time in quite a while I've had a nod and a wave from another Zed driver too! (Although I kinda hate you as I now realised how much I need the LED rear clusters ) -Dave
  18. Ordered my K1 from CS on tuesday, and it was delivered yesterday!! So once again thanks to CS for great service. Now I just need to not be stuck working in Norway so I can get home and get it fitted! Haven't even heard a K1 int he flesh yet, so to speak. lol Dave
  19. Corner's aren't too much of a problem in large parts of the US mate ;-)
  20. Just make sure there's lots of money in your bank account, and don't add it all up when you get home
  21. Hey guys, Just a quick one really. Due to work commitments and not being able to forward plan very much it's difficult to get along to meets and stuff, so was wondering if anyone around Southampton/Bournemouth/Portsmouth area is running with a K1 and fancies meeting up sometime so I can have a listen, maybe go for a quick spin? (in the passenger seat of course, happy to offer some petrol money) Seriously considering buying one, but I don't think the youtube videos give a real idea of the sound, and I do quite alot of miles so wondering if I could live with how loud it is, or if I would need to upgrade my stereo too. -Dave
  22. Think that man was yanking your chain. You might get 450 from a tank on a run, keeping on the well behaved side of 70, in 6th gear, with no stopping and starting, but that's about it. I average 300-350 miles from a tank driving sensibly, mix of motorways and around town driving. You'll get alot less than that if you always in stop/start traffic or hooning it. Mate of mine with a Zed who mostly does short journeys and has a heavy right food never sees above 20mpg. (more like 17-18) -Dave
