    mp3 CD on '57 Bose?

Some US models got MP3 disc compatibility from the 2006 facelift onwards but not UK cars. As mentioned you car wire in an aux input: http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=47176
  2. For the record my Toyosports has been on for a year and not fallen off Needed a bit of a polish after the winter but quality is no worse than others costing £300-350. Made more sense at £200 though considering the cost of fitting and tweaking. Tail pipes suit the car well, unlike most others which are obviously after-market. Sound is a bit rowdy...
  3. Sales of the Z almost halved in 2008 and they switched to making the 370Z. Quite a few late cars have GT4 wheels as well as stocks of the regular wheels dried up. 2007 ~900 sold 2008 ~500 sold 2009 ~200 sold

    40K for this

    1. This is an special edition Abarth and nothing to do with average emission regulations. 2. If you spec up a VW Golf R with DSG, wheels, leather, xenons, and an aftermarket exhaust it's well over £40k.
  5. Sounds like mine originally... Tons of slack before you actually start applying pressure to the master cylinder. There's a bolt that allows you to adjust the position of the pedal when released. I lowered my pedal taking out the slack and changing gear became a hell of a lot easier! I can't find any pictures but this thread may be of use: http://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-drivetrain/128253-high-clutch-want-to-lower-your-clutch-engagement-point.html
  6. If it's only done short trips in traffic and/or was a demonstrator it could well be on the way out. The clutch pedal can be adjusted but you have to sit upside down in the seat and work blind behind the dash... Not easy!
  7. Your review suggests the opposite! Less refined, more uncompromising and perhaps takes itself too seriously? I think they forgot a Z is supposed to be a fun sports-tourer, not a hard-core racer. I've been working for the marketing dept of a Japanese car maker over the last couple of years... If it was Nissan they'd be getting a daily rant from me

    Boxster S

The 350Z was a global hit and the UK only got 1,000 per year. The 370Z is still relatively cheap to buy (when a RenaultSport Megane is £25k) but all the German rivals are more refined and cheaper to run/lease... Hence they only sold about 700 last year.

    Life after Zed

Bare in mind the fuel consumption is similar to a Z! Evo did a buyer's guide recently and there's a surprising amount that goes wrong, especially on early cars. +1 I once went to look at a cheap R26 after a rain storm and the central locking was going haywire. Fortunately someone else had bought it before I got there. No one mentioned the Mazda 3 MPS yet? Not the best to drive but 0-60 in 5.9s and low profile. Expensive road tax though.
  10. I know the S15 has some additional bracing to improve handling but most of the chassis is identical and only designed to 90's crash regulations. There are Z's putting 600+lb/ft through the stock running gear (gearbox, prop, diff, hubs...) so it is built for heavier duty. RX-8 350Z
  11. The S15 was just a facelift of the S14, proven by the fact that most oily bits fit both (speaking as a former S14a owner). The real reason the Z33 is so heavy is because it's a cut 'n shut of the V35 Skyline saloon. It's a foot shorter but the extra bracing for the big hatch means it ends up weighing about the same. Nissan was on its knees in the late 90's and couldn't afford to design replacements for its ageing sports car platforms which would meet global crash regs for the next ~10 years. That's why the S and R platforms were only facelifted for the domestic market and the Z was designed quickly (~2 years) and cheaply based upon existing tech. The lighter engine and lower torque of the RX8 means that the engine bay, gearbox, drive shafts, hubs, etc.. don't need to be so heavy duty. If the RX8 shares any bits with another Mazda it'll be with another light weight car, the MX5.
  12. If you do go for one, there's plenty of barely run-in 2010 cars around for £25k. It makes a lot more sense at that price because £30k+ is mint M3 or Cayman money. Not many RWD alternatives around unfortunately until the Toyota/Subaru coupes launch next year.
  13. Over 160k: http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=10933 Plenty of cars in the US done over 200k miles with no major problems.
  14. Ironically Renault has made better engines than Nissan in the last decade. The Clio 197/200 engine beats the Civic Type-R engine in every way (torque, emissions, economy) they just don't over-hype it like Honda. The Megane 250 engine is known to put out closer to 270bhp. The VQ series dates back to 1994 and it's well past its sell-by date now. It does a reliable job but it's no classic like the RB and SR series. As far as I know Nissan is still planning to borrow big engines from Mercedes in future.
  15. The price of entry varies massively between these cars but the Z will cost the most to run (depreciation, fuel, tax). Even with a discount you'll lose £10k+ on the Z over a couple years while you'd be beating buyers off with a stick when you came to sell the BMW or Porsche (and get most of your money back).

  19. Have you tried upping the pressure? I've got 38psi in my front Kumho's and it restores a lot of the feel and stiffness. No problems with uneven wear either.
  20. +1. In the early days (2004-2007) they could only get hold of 1,000 a year. Sales bombed in 2008/2009.

    03-06 BHP?

    Sorry no, 276bhp = 280PS. Again the engine was listed as 287bhp in the US. 276bhp = 280PS (03-06) 296bhp = 300PS (06-07 + GT4) 309bhp = 313PS (07-09)
  22. When I bought it was more like a £2k premium for GTs with higher miles, worn tyres and kerbed/bubbling Rays. Trade-in prices are only ~£500 more.

    03-06 BHP?

287bhp was the figure quoted in the US for all 03-06 models and automatics from 06 onwards. Not aware of any actual difference from ours.

    BMW Mini's?

I would avoid the early turbo engines. There are some well known issues that BMW quietly fixed a couple of years after launch. The earlier supercharged engine was low-tech and thirsty but has way more character.
  25. But putting the key in and turning to the first position only disables the immobiliser and that's enough to make the radio work
