I don't remember noticing anything abnormal, but didn't check specifically. will do if it happens again. Yeah I thought it was time for the deerstalker and driving gloves! Thankfully it hasn't happened again since, but I will have to check it over in daylight Cheers Mike

Thanks for the replies, will check levels and for leaks after work. It started blowing cold when i was sat idling getting the car washed, but when I got moving again it did heat up... so could have been an airlock like Zeus said? I did about 50 miles on the motorway afterwards and Coolant was at normal temperature (needle just below horizontal)

Just started doing it today, is there a valve could be stuck or more likely an electronics problem with the dials or control box behind? Brrrr!

You can get the light to go off, if you drive more economically. Also the fuel gauge doesn't seem to measure what the tank level is, it just shows a level relating to the readout on the dte.

I had this years ago with another car, don't know if the same would apply to the Z. It was caused by me only running the car for a few seconds when cold. I called out the RAC man, all he did was keep turning it over until it coughed into life, took a while though!

I can only comment on general megane problems - water ingress through front speakers (wet door pocket or underfloor storage) - electric windows play up (water again) - door lock buttons can be temperamental - airbag light on could mean clock spring on steering column has broken generally dodgy electrics in Renaults

Sounds like he's a chancer, I get them at work now and again. The ones I get are agency labour and it's short term contracts,so I get rid of them and they become someone elses problem. If he's a decent guy then you could try helping him to improve, but it's annoyingly to carry someone getting paid the same wage as you.

Got the exhaust leak fixed, replaced the triangular gaskets between manifold and cats. Engine check light came back on this morning after staying off for a day. just 1283 this time so I'm hoping the ecu is relearning after running rich for a while...
