  1. before snow comes down... After... ffs... ffs....ffs...
  2. most of them came out... a few bashes on the inside of the car... still need to see what damage there will be tomorrow... neighbour has now moved the car out...
  3. Came home from a walk... had just cleaened the drive from snow going out and the snow on the roof had falled down.
  4. Get your dads car or taxi if you trust they drive better then you... or call work and have them help you out...
  5. J you getting an rx8?
  6. look at the video's on the autosock ones, deffo easier then chains but both are supossed to be pretty easy.
  7. You're right, you can't! ...........Nope, hold on, you can! A tropical beach sunset:
  8. Maybe worth mentioning on how you are driving the Z in the snow too? TSC off since you can't really use it when it's to slippy, very little power and high gear and feather the accelerator. Oh and drop the PSI in the tires works wonders too...
  9. Anyone tried the 'autosock' ones? They are TUV approved so would recon they are very good... heard about a few knockoff ones that aren't as good. Would need a set here since they don't grit many of the roads here in Dublin (only main roads) They are all out of stock in Ireland and the UK... http://www.autosock.co.uk/faq.html Q3: What sort of conditions can I use them in? A3: They'll improve traction on any snow or ice - even in soft, deep snow, or in wet snow. It's recommended that you take them off when you get back to tarmac, although the reality is that they probably will be driven on tarmac during those intermittent tarmac / snow / tarmac / snow conditions experienced before leaving the snow for good. (The TÜV test included 50 kilometres at 50 kph on dry tarmac. AutoSock passed this "Misuse test", but of course tarmac driving is not recommended as it increases fabric wear very considerably.) Was sitting looking at winter tyres and found something pretty interesting; have used the eire tyres place before (with very good result, cheaper then camskill etc) http://www.dackonline.se/ & http://www.eiretyres.com/start.html Funny that they are the same frontend exactly bar the top left corner Think I'm going down the sock line if I get stuck they seem to be a good option to get out of an ordeal until I can get a cheapish winter tyre and stick on my 17" for next year. Also worth mentioning that 'old' rubber winter tyres perform far poorer then brand new ones due to the rubber hardening. the Z could do with some extra additional weight in the rear, sand or coal bags would do nicely I used a carpet the last time I reversed up into the drive (if you got a LSD diff you need to only put it on one side too)
  10. 25cm expected in the next 48hours... no end in sight... ffs!!! gaaaaH!
  11. I managed to get my plans in place just in time .......... driving the Arosa now and picking up the new Polo on Wednesday for Wifey
  12. snow is wrecking my head and my car plans!!!
  13. I havent wheel spun once personally, but my car is fwd. studs IMO is OTT plus with winter tyres you can drive at 5c at 70mph nice and peacful not much wear either. studs would out super quick and they are noisy and they would give you less grip when its not deep snow. Love to know how they are on a 350 though. studs would be far superiour no discussion there on snow and ice. Not so on normal roads I guess, they don't wear that bad if you don't go spinning the tyres and driving to fast. FWD = massive difference since you get the weight on the engine over the tyres too. The Volvo is like a tank on the snowy roads with the vredstein tyres point and shoot, not so with the Z, might be the quaife diff making it a tad harder too (more predictible but need to be aware) Trying to source some snow chains now *Just in case A
  14. great idea, was thinking the same today going around in the snow with the 17"'s Goodyear F1's ... would probably not get a nankan set though since my experience is very poor with them... do you find that it starts spinning as soon as you take off or does it give you better start traction? For instance I didnt want to drive the car without the TCS but couldnt get going due to the engine killing itself (power) assoon as I tried taking off... so had to spin-start the whole time... the thread and rubber looks very good but wonder how soft the compound would be. btw studs is the way to go (if legal) conclusion it must be far better with them winder tyres then any summer ones...
  15. Great news, Nissan passed... and Volvo passed... new tyres for Altezza in the depot so after they're fitted I'll get going booking that one in too! Nice emission's on the Z now
  16. nobody happier then I, worth to not that the side light, rear light and brake light is all the same bulb...

  18. So the answer to my own Q >>> there should be two lights.
