Glad im not the only one that failed miserably is there some sort of technique to it? as i just seem to get faster each time its much easier to learn from a higher speed imo under more braking as it smooths it more. like an empty motorway slip lane with plenty of room to recover, 70-0. best way to start is begin braking having your foot positioned how you will have it, dont touch the throttle at this point. do this till your comfy braking with your foot at this funny angle. now with the car stationary with the engine running press the brake and pactice using the throttle, pick a number of revs and try to get it while holding the brake then try mving about the revs to get a feel for it so its familiar. holding the brake as you do this. now go onto the road and give it a go. plenty of room required to be safe with noone about, track would be ideal. put the two motions together, at first you will find you give it to much and it lurches or too little. tis all about practice thats how i was tought. cheers, thats on my to do list now btw, first time I tried braking with my left foot.... = glad there is a law to wear seat belts It was in my dad's chevy with him in it and me as a 'learner' driver. Never seens someone so close to hitting the front windshield with there head... practice makes perfect though and managed it real good in the end. Since lost that 'skill'... so if you dont use it I suposse you loose it Think this might be something that I could film, just need to find a good area to practice it on. A.

Yes thats how slipper clutches work. There is no resistance to engine braking - ie if engine is spinning slower than wheels, it will just let the clutch "slip" so that it doesnt lock the back wheels up. Thats why its used in motorbikes as engine braking in bikes can easily lock the back wheel. Not really worth it in a car. hmm my own experience on track on bike with slipper clutch is that it slowly engage the clutch with the engine; engine braking still occurs but the rear wheel doesn't lockup. I need to investigate this further btw, tried a heal toe downshift earlier today... lol think I'll do it on closed road the next time...

Not sure a slipper clutch would work on a car really. For bikes, sure its all good as rev matching on them is harder and its easier to lock the rear. But on a car it would just mean no engine braking! ^^^ Is that right that the car wouldn't engine brake? hmmm don't think so it would just make the downshifting smoother and you wouldnt need to use a blip...
  4. I see one parked in the Royal College of Surgeons Car Park (Q-Park) in Dublin every day I park there... hope it's none from here because it seems to get into worse and worse nick with scratches and dents and bumps from someone that doesn't look after it...every day

Dont brake... Never had to drive that with my Z to be honest (take it 'handy'), suposse it would be needed if you track it and want to push her further. (kinda like a V-twin on the track, blipping the throttle) I saw that the 370z has this blip built in! I think I'd have a hard time concentrating on driving and trying to keep the revs perfect while downshifting. Maybe practice make perfect? Must ask the Haltech crew if there is any plans to make this as a firmware upgrade for their ECU Not sure if there are any 'slipper clutches' for the Z? Taken from: http://www.hptmotorsports.com/spec_clut ... evo_89.php STAGE 5 (Unsprung Iron Disc Clutch Kit) For extremely modified drag race and pulling engines, or applications that call for a slipper clutch/progressive torque-induced engagement. These clutches are best ordered as custom configured and should be ordered after providing specific information about the car and it's purpose to a SPEC technical assistant. Not street-friendly due to harsh engagement. Includes high-clamp pressure plate, rigid iron disc assembly, bearing and alignment tool. Call before ordering to give vehicle specifications. NOTE: This kit does not include an aligment tool. OFFROAD USE ONLY, NOT RECCOMENDED AT ALL (Special Order w/ NO Returns) PART# SU205

  14. Right think it was a 100.5% scam, after sending these two mails (3 days ago) :1 Hi , I suggest we do the following: * I've got a good few friends scattered around UK that has offered to go and see the car for me first before we start moving monies around. Where in the UK are you based? (more importanlty where is the car for viewing?) * After my friend has had a good look at the car and test drive I will fly over to the UK and have a final look at the car myself. I will arrange for an AA check of the vechile at the same time (if thats ok with yourself) and then we can sign the deal in the UK and I can drive the car back to EIRE. Please let me know what you think about above idea. Even if the friends I have over in the UK are to far away from you I'm sure we can go with step 2 direclty. Looking forward hearing from you. Kind Regards :2 Sorry for spam here , maybe you can answer these Q's too that I'm waiting an answer to: When did you purschase this car? (how long circa have you had it for) Is the car currently due an NCT? (or when is it due) Is the car taxed in EIRE at the moment? (if not when did it expire, circa) Whas this car ever imported into Ireland? (if so from what country?) Cheers Guess thats that!
  15. welcome to the forum mate, what tyres are you using on the car? Find my good year F1's class in the wet... far to narrow during pushing it in the dry. I drive with the EST off at all times and just take it easy. Nothing worse when it starts 'slip' 'slip' when it actually doesn't have to and the car goes dead/not-dead and so no... I did a rally training and that proved really good for handling (feeling the car) afterwards. (wasn't allowed to drive the Z off from the training though.... , might have been a good idea!) If you know any good open places take her out and give it a bit of stick to get used to it. Tracking on my car was WAY off when I got it and it was a bit to 'trigger' happy so after that got sorted I got more rubber on the road. \ Enjoy her, I'm enjoying every time I drive her! (bar when I get pulled...) a.
