  1. No I suspect the reason for the long final gear is fuel economy. I doubt many use 6th for hard acceleration anyway, just pop it down to 5th or 4th if you need a burst of power.
  2. Does seem pretty stingy, but I guess the market for thirsty sports cars is pretty limited at the moment, hence the low price.
  3. I really wouldn't stress about it too much. As others have said just don't thrash the nuts off it and you won't do any damage. On a nice long cruise it will purr along nicely whatever is in the tank.
  4. I bought some Tissue Regenix (TRX) in my SIPP yesterday after reading this: http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/business ... 1-4388391# Why? Because Neil Woodford has taken a 26% stake in the company. He's widely regarded as one of the best fund managers in the UK and he knows the pharmaceutical sector inside. At any rate, it sounds like an incredible product, if it really does what they claim.
  5. Yeah, I'm off Button - he's gone and done a Hamilton by not being patient enough behind a slower car Vettel seems to have lost is mojo, or should we say his finger Nice to see Webber doing relatively well though To be fair to Button he's held his hands up and admitted the 'incident' was his fault. Also he's admitted it was a **** poor race and he should have done better. At least he's man enough to say it rather than blaming others. I was disappointed in Vettel's reaction thouhg. I'd really warmed to him last season but I thought his comments were out of order. He has to take some responsbility for what happened.
  6. I remember reading an article a year or so ago which tested the best speed for maximum fuel economy. Generally speaking the slower you go, the better the fuel economy. Even if that means pottering along at 30 in as high a gear as possible without labouring the engine. The thing about speed is that air resistance increases dispropotiantely the faster you go. Once you're over 30 mph it really starts to have a big effect. So the best speed on the motorway for fuel economy is likely to be as slow as possible. The article also disussed the 56mph used as the benchmark for economical driving, and found that there is nothing special about that speed at all. As suggested above driving slower than 56mph will lead to even greater fuel efficiency in most cases.
  7. Just felt I should point out the zed doesn't have a cam belt, but good luck with the sale.
  8. Seem this many times before, but it illustrates the point brilliantly.
  9. Agree with this. I can understand he was disappointed not to get second (or perhaps even win) but on balance he now knows he has a great car forthe rest of the season which is a massive positive. Cheers up Lewis!
  10. It's a bit overdone, but you could make that stunning for not a lot of money. The wheels in particualr are
  11. Looks like the first 'highlights' show on the beeb will be 2 hours long. Better than the 90 minutes originally suggested, they should be able to show most of the race.
  12. I saw some white bentley wheels on a silver 350Z at Japfest last year, and it it looked horrific.
  13. Really enjoyed tonight episode, good too see them promoting some British manufacturers too. Whether you'd buy one or not, you know those track cars would be immense fun.
  14. My brother used to have one of these (unmolested), stunning car although I could never understand how they managed to get so little power of the brute of an engine. Sadly this one has been ruined.
  15. Been on the cards for a while, will be interesting to see how he measures up agianst Heikki.
  16. And a good couple of days for XEL, just need RRL to get shifting now!
  17. Worst episode in quite a while, this article sums it up pretty well: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvan ... eview.html I've actually quite enjoyed Top Gear USA on BBC 3 recently. It reminds me of the early days of our Top Gear before it got staid and boring. I just don't think Clarkson and co can muster the same levels of enthusiasm about driving exotic cars (or taking part in crazy challenges) when its all they've done for the last 15 years.
  18. Just to jump in to Captain's defence here, I've been on a track day with him (Castle Combe), both of us, in our Zeds, and he didn't drive anything like the guy in that video. In fact he ws great with me who was a total novice and took great care to let me follow him and vice versa later on. He was also courteous to other cars and chatting to everyone in the breaks there was absolutely no hint of anyone questioning the way anyone else was driving. So to judge his driving style of the basis of a video he might like is unfairly jumping to conclusions. Re the video itself, great to watch but I would hate to be on track with so many cars, that's the main issue. If there had been half of the amount of cars on track everyone could have given everyone else a bit more space. And one final point, Dan massively jealous of you driving an R300 at Castle Combe! I am a bit obsessed with getting a seven at the moment so you've just made me turn (racing) green with envy. It must have been a brilliant day.
  19. Sounds like a pre-built could be a better option then, and then spend any spare cash on upgrades. Thanks for all the input.
