Fluttering noise under my feet?

Recommended Posts

Ok so my exhaust is fairly loud and today decided to put both my windows down as i was going through a tunnel(as you do in a z) and as i put my foot to the floor in 2nd gear i could hear a fluttering noise under my seat. Is this an exhaust leak? Or something else. Cheers for any help

I had something similar a while back (not in a tunnel though) and shortly afterwards needed a new y pipe.....not sure what exhaust system you are running? might be nothing. Get something similar in the Scooby but it is the reverb off the fuel pump (and more of a whoosh than a flutter)....

Cheers guys. Hope its a pidgeon getting fried haha.

I have a custum dual stainless exhaust with ebay hfc. Also noticed fluttering from exhaust exit more than usual when car is idling after long drive. Going to see if theres any exhaust specialists near by. Thought it could have been a loose part underneath but dont see anything.

Probably an exhaust leak........or could be a trapped pigeon trying to escape! :teeth:

Don't be silly, the cats would have had that pigeon by now. :teeth:

Get it? Exhaust, pigeon, cats....

My guess is the Y pipe too - mine was rusty and holed and I heard a strange whooshing noise at speed from what sounded like the bottom of the driver's door. Since replacing the Y pipe I've not heard it again.

Loads of threads on here about which y pipe is best - everyone has an opinion lol Stillen is good, I have a Cobra....all give slightly different tones depending on the rest of your exhaust system. Good luck & glad you got it sorted quickly :)
