SiriusProjects Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Hi All, Was thinking of spray painting the plastic engine cover and battery/brake fluid covers. Just wonder if anyone has done this and what preparation needs to be done. With regards to the plastic engine cover, can I use ordinary spray paint and lacquer on it or do I need specific types since it's an area that gets hot? Thanks. Quote
burgs Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 HR or DE? You will probably be better using vht paint on the engine cover. Quote
The Bounty Bar Kid Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Done it. Have a look at my build thread. link is in my signature. Quote
Lyndzzz Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 You don't need vht as the cover doesn't get that hot. There's loads on here who have done it, myself included it's in my build thread, if you search you'll find lots of info. Looks fab once it's done Quote
Pritchard Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 sprayed and dipped. the trader Ricey @ rEvolve Automotive did mine. he would be a good person to ask. http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/93252-the-pumpkin-3-month-sprint-build-sprint-complete/ 1 Quote

14N Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Lots have done it, myself included (were the first things I ever painted). No special paints or lacquer needed, but use plastic primer as it's a primer, specifically for for plastics Quote
SiriusProjects Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 (edited) Cheers for the info. I shall have a look at the build projects mentioned. It's a DE by the way. Edited March 13, 2015 by SiriusProjects Quote
