Rocker cover grommets - no need to replace entire RC

May sound a silly question but what size circular drill bit do we need? Do we have any decent guides for removing the vc?

Look at my first post...watch the videos.

Drill bit is included iirc.

(he does muck this up - but the removal and tips are handy)

2 inch hole saw iirc. I think I have one of those somewhere but Adrian did say he could/would provide the alignment tool as well to save buggering it up like this guy did. We just need to get the right kind of sealant.

Decided im going to give this a go, try and film it all from a bonnet mounted camera and do a time lapse video or install + guide for anyone else. Will see how it goes when the kits arrive. All of this is weather permitting of course :)

Yep, we have the alignment tool :) You can pass it between you guys.

If more guys are interested, I will order more kits, just let me know. The first 5 are already on the way, might have slight delay because of the bank holidays tomorrow and Monday.

Sounds good Octet, looking forward to getting the bits and giving it a go :)

Should list the kits for sale in your member traders area. Its a very common problem that until now really didn't have a fix short of spending over 600 on parts for 2 pieces of plastic! They wont fly off of the shelves but sure there will always be a constant trickle of orders. Cars with this fault are slowly burning oil which isn't the best idea obviously, plus potentially fouling up the spark plugs so although its not a problem most people know they have it is one that needs fixing once identified.

I completely agree.

If you have signs of oil around the spark plugs/RC's then it's typically going to be due to this. I frequently top up with oil but obviously it's best to just fix the problem itself.

Since you mentioned it, what sealant should we use for this ?

Octet, do you recommend we buy new gaskets to seal the rocket covers back into the engine?

I need to do some looking and find the right type of sealer too :)

Just re-read the original link, it should be in the kits bud

- R&D Factory 6 spark plug grommets.

- R&D Factory DIY Alignment tool.

- Nissan OEM Valve Cover Gaskets Both (right and left).

- NISSAN OEM PCV VALVE O-ring seal.

And it mentioned Black RTV Silicone to use, something like this I think:

Sweet ! Saves me buying them :)

I've located the exact same stuff the guys from R&d labs used in their demo video to seal the grommets. Look on EBay for item number 271642899657

Adrian, option 3 please, or 1 if it's out of stock :)

I've ordered 10 sealant kits and will include them in the kit, thanks a lot. Need to list this kit in our trader area :)

Adrian

I also bought a 51mm hole saw bit (they use a 2" one, which is 50.8mm) on ebay, just in case (as I wasn't sure if it's part of the loaned out alignment tool or not).
