Rock_Steady Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 (edited) About tyres. Or rims for that matter. I currently have 18" GT Nissan wheels. The tyre sizes that are on it: Front=225/45/18 Rear= 245/45/18 I have just bought some Rota GTR 18" wheels. Front= ET25 8.5j Rear = ET20 9.5j What size tyres would fit the Rotas? The tyres from the GT wheels? I have no idea if the J on the GT wheels is the same as the Rotas. I don't want them to look too stretched or the rears to look more stretched than the fronts. Can anyone help out an imbecile in desperate need of some guidance. Please feel free to be as condescending as you like. Thank you in advance. Edited December 2, 2014 by Rock_Steady Quote
ilogikal1 Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 The '50's Rays are 8J front & 8.5J rear, so the 245/45 from the rear Rays will simply swap to the front Rotas. That's it. That's the sum of my knowledge. I'm sure someone more helpful will be along shortly. Quote
350zedd Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Please feel free to be as condescending as you like. Thank you in advance. Ok for starters....please be consistent in the spelling of tyres Tires are for those living in yankee-land! Ha ha! 2 Quote
brillomaster Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 DON'T put the rears from the 350z wheels on the fronts of the rotas. you'll have to run 275/45 on the rear to keep the tcs happy, which is all wrong. id go for 245/40/18 on the front, and 275/40/18 on the rear with those new widths. but then again, the new fronts are only half an inch wider, and the rears an inch wider - with the standard 45 profile tyres, you probably wouldnt notice that much stretch. 1 Quote
Rock_Steady Posted December 2, 2014 Author Posted December 2, 2014 (edited) I see. So, it's true that the Rotas are wider than the standard GT wheels. It sounds like if I just slapped on the tyres from the standards to the Rotas, the rear may look more stretched than the fronts. Edited December 2, 2014 by Rock_Steady Quote
Grundy Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 that's what your tyre will look like - 245 on a 9.5j #teamtarmac 1 Quote
jumping350 Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 I ran 235/45/18 on the front and 255/40/18 on the rear with no problems below is with 245/45 on the rear 1 Quote

Rock_Steady Posted December 2, 2014 Author Posted December 2, 2014 There's loads of tread left on the tyres I've got on the GT wheels. I just don't want to have such a wide gap between them and the arches. Having said that, I plan to drop it in the next few months. I think you may have made up my mind for me Brillo my man. Quote
Ekona Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 I'd just swap the tyres straight over, personally. Quote
Rock_Steady Posted December 2, 2014 Author Posted December 2, 2014 (edited) I think i'm going to swap the front ones straight over and get some new rears. 255/40/18 unless this buggers up the tcs? Edited December 2, 2014 by Rock_Steady Quote
Ekona Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 It could, yes. Unlikely, but not impossible. It will also cause more understeer. Quote
Rock_Steady Posted December 2, 2014 Author Posted December 2, 2014 (edited) Blast "n" buggery then, I'll just swap the sods over and go from there. Edited December 2, 2014 by Rock_Steady Quote
