ir_fuel Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Where have you been then, lad? doing this when it was dry and this when it was raining But we are nearing the end of "money-pit-2-wheel-season" here. 2 more trackdays and its over until 2008, so back to the 350z forum Quote
Zedrush Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Nice Howw do you get the confidence to knee slide, I cant imagine there to be trial and error cos a mistake will cost big time Quote
ir_fuel Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Nice Howw do you get the confidence to knee slide, I cant imagine there to be trial and error cos a mistake will cost big time Lots of practice Just ride faster and faster, if the position on the bike is good it will happen one day or another, without pushing it ofcourse. Now it is true that it takes more mental "courage" to do it in the rain. Have to convince yourself that the tires really work well when it rains. Quote
Zedrush Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 madness `ive seen images of the bike slipping out and knees slamming hard thats always been my fear, but like you say mind over matter Quote
Stew Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Family weddings as a young lad Got images of peter kay now! Quote
Andy Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 That is awesome!! I can publically say that I don't think I would have the balls to go for a full on knee slide on a bike but fair play to you!!! Quote
TiN Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Nice Howw do you get the confidence to knee slide, I cant imagine there to be trial and error cos a mistake will cost big time On the track, touching down with your knee is there to give you confidence really, as it's used to gauge your lean angle, and how far you've got to go before low-siding...on the road, it's just for showing off You'd be surprised how upright you can be to slide your knee...it's all about positioning on the bike. Rossi & co often have reinforced elbows on their leathers, because they often drag them down too! Quote
stuey Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 once the knee goes down then you can get the pegs and exhaust down.......... this is me at oulton......... Quote
TiN Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Wow, that bike looks huuuuge! I love the RSV-Rs though... Quote
ir_fuel Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 The real skill in trackriding is in braking. Late and hard braking, and if possible braking to the apex of the corner without lowsiding. That is where the real skill is if you want to have fast laptimes. Putting your knee down isn't really that hard. Quote
nixy Posted September 28, 2007 Author Posted September 28, 2007 Do me a favour Stuey and don't ever shatter the illusion by taking the leathers and helmet off! Remain like the Stig always! Quote
