terry06 Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Hi guys picked my Z on Wednesday (still grinning!). Tried searching but couldn't find an answer It's a GT4 with the bose system and I have tried playing copied disks but they are do not read, original CD's are fine (no jumping etc.) I have seen a few threads that suggest it can read copied disks so my question is are there certain brands that work better than other? Thanks in advance Terry Quote
Zhorno Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 I'm wondering this aswell Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
ZEUS Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Mine plays both fine. Infact the copied ones are less prone to skipping! 1 Quote

terry06 Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 What's a CD? Could be worse, I could be asking about the tape player! Quote
ZEUS Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 As in the brand...Packard Bell but I've used other no name brands and they have worked fine Quote
Randy_Baton Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Surely you've done the BOSE hack and turned your Tape deck into an MP3 player already? No need for CD's, 2 *120GB Ipod classics is all I need in my car. Not sure I've even tried the CD player. 1 Quote

ZEUS Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 I've done the iPod hack and it is loads better than CDs Quote
comrade Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Get an aftermarket HU, you will get better sound and no messing around with those silly 90's shiny things. £200 including the loom will get you a reasonable one. Or you can just get one of those cassettes with a 3.5mm lead, if you are too lazy to do the hack. Quote
JetSet Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Well, some copied CD's work fine on mine and some don't. Maybe some CD's are copy protected?? It's a long time since I've done it but I converted some of my albums to MP3 and copied them onto CD's and they play fine on my Bose. Pete Quote
terry06 Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 Not lazy but I would like to keep the car in original condition, but then again no one will ever try the tape player... Quote
bamdc2 Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 (edited) Slightly off topic but where did you buy your GT4? Wasnt around Gloucestershire area was it?? FYI- Mine plays copied CD's fine Edited October 17, 2014 by bamdc2 Quote
terry06 Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 Thanks Pete will check but pretty sure they don't have copy protection Quote

AMT Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Mines works fine, I've always got copied CD's and songs in it, dunno about older versions but surely there shouldn't be any difference. Maybe the discs your using? Quote
terry06 Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 That's what I'm thinking, will try some new ones but if not the ipod hack may be the answer Quote
KyleR Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Worked fine in my 2004. I'm wondering if you copied them wrong. You need an exact clone of the disc I insgine, not just drag and drop a few songs using Nero. Quote
M13KYF Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 all works fone on mine. Always burn your copied cd's at the slowest speed. It burns deeper into the cd material. Gives more life to the cd and a better chance for the laser to read 1 Quote
terry06 Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 Ah ok, I tried drag and drop and also burning a playlist in itunes Quote
jollyranchers Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 slow the speed down and increase the time between tracks will sort it , I use cheapo discs with no issues 1 Quote
AMT Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 I just use windows media player, burns fine and works. I do agree with the slower speed though Quote
