For a while now my, admittedly ancient, mac has been doing strange things with my e mail. Sometimes it says I have new mail when I don't and at other times it dredges up old e mails and displays them as though they are new. I have tried looking for the answer as to why it is doing this but I can't find anything that helps. Are there any techie types on here who might be able to help please?

It's a 20-inch imac Mid 2007 so maybe it is 7 years old rather than 9.

OSX is version 10.9.4 (13E28)

You can punch the serial number into the apple website and you can get full details

Not sure if you have other devices linked to your email account or Apple as that can sometimes cause a few odd things to happen

Try deleting the mailbox contents on all devices and see if that does the trick

There may be old accounts linked to the email as well so chck that and delete any not required

Thanks Mudman. I will try to do those things although I am not in the slightest bit 'technical' and Mr Twobears is abroad as usual so no help from him  I wonder if it is something to do with linking my Kindle to the mac?
