leet8845 Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 I've brought my parts and I'm having my flywheel, clutch, spigot bearing, slave cylinder and clutch line changed. I've spoke to the mechanic at a local company, a1-clutches.co.uk and said they would be able to fit everything. They said they have done 350zs before but I just want to know if there's anything particularly difficult about the job that would mean I'm better off taking it to 350z specialist? Quote
ZMANALEX Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Nope, it's just a clutch on a Nissan. Unless they fit the flywheel in the wrong position. Alex. 1 Quote
Ekona Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Well yeah, but I'm assuming they're vaguely competent! Quote
leet8845 Posted August 26, 2014 Author Posted August 26, 2014 (edited) Ok thanks. I'll remind them to put the flywheel the right way round Edited August 26, 2014 by leet8845 Quote
ZMANALEX Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Ok thanks. I'll remind them to put the flywheel the right way round I am serious and it won't be a first. Alex. 1 Quote
leet8845 Posted August 26, 2014 Author Posted August 26, 2014 Ok I will do, how do they know which way is which? It's a LUK flywheel. Quote

Martinjj Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Ok I will do, how do they know which way is which? It's a LUK flywheel. Not 100% sure but I think one of the holes in the flywheel is a smaller diameter and this fits onto a locating pin, maybe someone else can clear this up for you though ... 1 Quote
Shane Brede Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Likewise about Cougar Store they do a first class job of looking after my baby Mitz & Andy 1 Quote
tatooandy67 Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 +10000000 for cougar store If it's not too far it's well worth the trip for top class service 1 Quote
leet8845 Posted August 26, 2014 Author Posted August 26, 2014 I did consider cougar store but this other place is a 10 minute drive and if it's a standard job that a clutch specialist can handle then I'd rather not have to travel and spend a day there. My next mods however will be different, I want a pipercross induction kit, plenum spacer, high flow cats and a UpRev remap. I think I'll travel to Horsham Developments for those. 1 Quote
BulletMagnet Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 I drove 3 hours from Ipswich to Leicester for CougarStore services. If you choose convenience of a 10min drive and something don't go right the first time you only got yourself to blame when you fork out twice for labour Quote
leet8845 Posted August 27, 2014 Author Posted August 27, 2014 I agree but that's why asked here first. If it was something more Z specific, I wouldn't hesitate but you'd think a clutch specialist should be able to fit a clutch without messing it up. Anyway, I got the car back today. The new clutch feels great, low biting point and loads of grip. Just super smooth. I would recommend a1-clutches. Fitted flywheel, clutch, slave, clutch line and molyslip for £250 and threw in some brake fluid. Quote
