Which Lube To Stop Deep Moaning? (For Boot Struts)

Recommended Posts

Opened the boot today and the struts let out a sort of weird moan. They're SGS and only 6-12 months old. It was crazy warm in the car, so this may have been a factor, but if I was to spray some lube onto the shiny bit of the boot struts - what's safe to go on there?

I know on the face of it this seems a stupid question but the only reason I ask is I don't want to apply something that eats the seals on the struts. Plain old WD40? I've got some white lithium grease lying around? Chip fat? KY?

And the prize for best title I've seen all day... :#1:

I'd probably say silicone too, shouldn't damage any rubber seals.

Are the struts still under warranty? Could be one is leaking a bit (maybe? Im not an expert)

I'm not worried about the struts, they're solid, just thought a bit of lube would do no harm. Thanks for the tips on the silicone gents.
