Tyre Sizes and Wheel Widths

Came across this when looking for what tyre sizes. It's just a rough guide, but least it gives you a starting point.

5.5 Inches 165mm 175 or 185 mm 195 mm

6.0 Inches 175mm 185 or 195 mm 205 mm

6.5 Inches 185mm 195 or 205 mm 215 mm

7.0 Inches 195mm 205 or 215 mm 225 mm

7.5 Inches 205mm 215 or 225 mm 235 mm

8.0 Inches 225mm 235 or 245 mm 255 mm

9.0 Inches 235mm 245 or 255 mm 265 mm

9.5 Inches 245mm 255 or 265 mm 275 mm

10 Inches 255mm 265 or 275 mm 285 mm

10.5 Inches 265mm 275 or 285 mm 295 mm

11.0 Inches 275mm 285 or 295 mm 305 mm

As I said this is a rough guide to allow people to know the region of what tyres they should be looking at.

just some remember tyres site more square or wider than others

 

like my khumo on my grids with a 10.5j and 275 had a little stretch

tonyr123 falkens on same spec grids same size tyre where dead square and up right

I tend to use the a Toyo site as a guide, they specify min/max wheel widths for all their tyres.

No way! 165 goes on a 8j! And a 195 goes on a 9.5j. That's what I've done in the past.

Was useful for me as I didn't know what tyres are meant for an 11j. Hopefully it will be the same for someone else.

Yeah I know mate. I was only joking although I have run a 165 55 15 on a 8j. Very dodgy wouldn't recommend it. Lol.

I have to say that I wouldn't put anything but 295 on 10.5's I put 305's on and they were a tad big, but 295's were perfect. Any less and they'd look crap and give no protection to the rims.

So, would you people say that 265/40 and 285/40 good set up for 9.5j and 11j wheels?

Or 265/40 and 285/35? Or any better ideas?

Vlad use a tyre calculate to work out what you need. I can tell you off head that a 265/40 and 285/40 will not work and you are unlike to find any tyre of that size in real life.
