Neilp Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Hi Guys, I'm looking for some tips on vinyl wrap removal. I'm going to be removing my wrap to do some TLC on the car and get the paint work detailed and back to a top condition. Whats the best method of removing the vinyl without leaving the paint in too much of a mess. I will be machine polishing the car and detailing once removed so any tips would be greatly received. Cheers Neil Quote
AliveBoy Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Heat the vinyl, it will take off most of the glue with it if you do. When you take it off the paint will look all cloudy, but some decent bug and tar remover will get it off fairly easily as it's all just glue Quote
ilogikal1 Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Heat (not too much otherwise you'll burn the paint), Tardis and a lot of patience! Quote
Neilp Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 Are you taking all the decals off??!! Yep, getting bored of it all and looking to change the full car look I think. Either that or i'm gonna sell up Quote

Neilp Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 It's starting to look cheap and Chavy IMO and just needs a new look. To be honest I'm just really bored of the car. Considering putting back to a standard nismo car and selling. Quote
marzman Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Use this stuff... i've used it to get the glue off my windows after removing the window tints from the porsche. And a credit card as a scraper. http://www.diy.com/nav/rooms/cleaning-laundry/household-cleaning/cleaning_products/-specificproducttype-specialist_cleaners/Desolvit-Sticky-Stuff-Remover-250ml-10287730?noCookies=false Bug and Tar remover was no help at all compared to this stuff. Scott TMN Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Which brand Vinyl is it? I recently removed my hexis vinyl wrap off my bumper and bonnet, a bit of heat did help a little but it can make the vinyl a bit soft so you just end up pulling it off in bits. I did fid however upon removal my paintwork looked even cleaner! Didn't leave any residue or anything. Quote
ZEUS Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 White spirit will remove any glue residue and not harm the paint. Quote
