clockwize Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Hey guys trying to fit new struts but boot won't shut properly now lol Boot is staying open until I get a reply haha Quote
GIXXERUK Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 (edited) Are they upside down ? The silver piston should be pointing up See here Edited February 21, 2014 by GIXXERUK Quote
Mulbers Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 (edited) I think the brackets on the body are meant to have the tabs facing down. I believe the struts are upside down too.... Like this. http://www.350zhatchshocksandmore.com/INSTALL.html Edited February 21, 2014 by Mulbers Quote

GIXXERUK Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 (edited) Sorted Best thing to do is take pics before you start, with a replacement part or do one side at a time, so you have a reference Edited February 21, 2014 by GIXXERUK Quote

KyleR Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 (edited) Wait, aren't they the right way up? Shouldn't the cylinder be at the top as per the photo so the oils are at the bottom to keep the piston and rod lubricated? Bottom brackets are 100% upside down though. Cars at another house so can't check. Edited February 21, 2014 by KyleR Quote

clockwize Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 Confused, so were they the right way up in the photo and it was just the bracket? 1 Quote
Mulbers Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 It was all upside down.... Glad it's all sorted now though. Quote
glrnet Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Using this photo as reference you have the bracket and the strut upside down Quote
GIXXERUK Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Confused, so were they the right way up in the photo and it was just the bracket? Dude, There's a vid and a install PDF showing you they were upside down ?? Quote
WhackyWill Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 They are DEFINITELY upside down, the reason if it of any importance to you is this way up the oil in the damper does not keep the the seal lubricated and it dries out and leaks..so put them up the other way and you wont have problems. clockwize Posted February 22, 2014 Author Posted February 22, 2014 I wasn't in a place where I could watch the vid, but was confused as wasn't sure if people were saying they were up the right way originally or after I'd changed them again etc.. Done now! 1 Quote
