I wonder if the colour coding affects the light output ( without the reflective backing ) ?

Very interested in doing this too, thing putting me off is reports that some have had where some of the LEDs are failing after a short time. Not the sort of job you'd want to have to do twice.

I'd ask where cs2000 sources his LEDs from for his reflector builds

You just need to buy proper LEDs from automotive sources not cheap ebay rejects.

 

(Cs2000 buys mainly bulbs not surface mount LEDs. but they may sell LED's as well)

 

For my dash project I was paying £3.00 per LED for some of them not 10 for 99p from ebay.

 

As long as you buy right they will last. I would also do a burn test before sealing them into a headlight.

I priced a 370z headlight from Nissan, was £1275 each ! (just incase it went Pete tong)

Decided not bother
